Hi Odin, I can’t wait to see your vid on the fishing lines. I am a veteran bead weaver and it seems that each thread has a best use. For example, I use Nymo when I adding fringe - it seems to have better movement in the finished design. I use superlon & C-lon when I do kumihimo. Even though you eluded that this was a beginner vid, it was helpful for me to watch. Thank you!

Glad you found it useful! It's interesting how each thread is made for different projects. I am trying to narrow down my personal niches when it comes to jewelry, but maybe one of these days I will have a whole library dedicated to threads and beads xD

I make wrapped bracelets, and I've found that using bead embroidery needles with C-lon or KO totally helps from thread shred. The needles have a blunt end and really do help when making multiple passes thru beads.

I love one g and all the color variety. It snaps sometimes, but maybe I pulled too hard. Thank you for the info I thought one g was the best. I use fireline only when I really need to now.

Hi, your video on the threads is great. And..i hope you will find a good invisible thread for the beading. Many beads are transparent and the threads are too visible.

The only thing I have found is monofilament, but it is so hard to work with and you can't thread it through a needle without it breaking :(

Sharp embroidery scissors do the trick, but Xuron also has nippers that even go through fireline

Great video! As we've discussed previously I am a Nymo fan but, I'm strictly a bead embroidery gal so 99% of my beads are seeds without sharp edges so it works fine for me. Plus I go through a 3oz cone like nothin'. Several of my Native beader/embroidery gals also use Fire Line but I just can't justify the cost with how much I'd go through. :/
@OdinsMusings

I feel you there. I found a couple of competitors to Fireline, but the jury is still out when it comes to cost vs accessibility. I definitely use Nymo when I do embroidery, it's wayyyy to expensive to use Fireline and it does hold nicely. I just wish I could find my F weight again >:

Which threads don’t fray at the ends?
@OdinsMusings
@OdinsMusings 3 жыл бұрын
They all do eventually, you can try and curb this with wax or conditioner, or you can use nail polish at the end of your beadwork when you cut them

Hi Odin. I have had good luck with ko thread. In fact I love it for beaded tassels when you need the extra drape and flexibility that you can't with fireline even thu I'm a fireline gal. I hate slon d also. I have tried it twice to no avail. I wasted so much thread cuz I'm like you where I usually bead with 2 and a half yards at a time for a big project. The slon has tangled and completely knotted itself all up. Maybe if I tried using a thread bobbin to hold it I might have better luck especially since I have it in different colors along with the ko. I hate my no for same reason and it shreds instantly. Luckily I only bought nymo d in black and white so not too much money wasted. I have also seen wildfire and ko thread used all the time on the ricks beading loom but I haven't tried it yet. I know he used ko pretty exclusively on the loom.

Thanks for this video, very helpful! I was wondering how the One G thread (330 dtex) compares to Wildfire 0.15 mm in terms of thickness? I am working on a project where I have to pass multiple times through a particularly small size 15 bead--hoping to find something that is thinner than the wildfire.

One G is MUCH thinner than Wildfire and less rigid too.

What are your thoughts on transparent nylon thread
@OdinsMusings
@OdinsMusings 4 жыл бұрын
Like monofilament fishing line? Or is there a beading thread that is transparent? I use the clear fishing line for my 3D crystal sculptures since it is so rigid. Other than that I find it stretches and breaks easily .

I need a how to video on what you use nylon monofilament 8lb test for because I was given darice about 7 years ago and I still can't find anything on it besides buy buy buy and how to clamp it shut I found out it's expensive to replace and it's still good and would like to use it if I have a how to video. I remember having a pendant made with it before but I didn't make it myself
@OdinsMusings
@OdinsMusings 4 жыл бұрын
I use mine for making 3d crystal figurines. If you like really large chains you can also do stitching by hand instead of a needle with 8/0's and larger. Try peyote or right angle weave with it. You can make some interesting focal pieces. A lot of people also make bags or charms with pony beads. There are a lot of cute patterns out there. I will see what I can do for a tutorial because I have a spool collecting dust on my desk at the moment

@@OdinsMusings can they be used for pendants?
@OdinsMusings
@OdinsMusings 4 жыл бұрын
@@TheLegendaryCrimsonexWolves Sure! You can do tubular RAW and make small sections to string on another project. The beaded figurines are usually small enough to make as a pendant, and you can even do small shapes with peyote to string on a necklace

Does Nymo D (Beadalon) need to be stretched and waxed a bit - or can it be used without doing those things? (Basic necklaces and earrings.) I've always used sewing thread for myself, but I will be hosting a craft night with friends so I bought some Nymo for the 1st time.

Yep! Generally it's a good idea. There are some Japanese threads (like SoNo and K-O) that come pre-waxed as well. Personally I don't only because I am lazy xD

Is Miyuki 100% nylon thread 330detx, 50m a good thread for seed beads? I have Tough Thread (professional beading thread 30 lb .009 5yds) I ordered online and is this a good beading thread?
