The fact that Smith speaks so harshly about Holyfield and so dismissively about Foreman (two of the most nicest HW champions of all time) and yet is so willing to defend Floyd really says a lot about him...

Smith made a very good example when he compared holyfield vs tyson to may vs PAC. PAC doesn't know how to go in survival mode like Tyson. So they don't know what to do when they do get hurt. When Stephen said that u can see holyfield agreeing with him. Now evander backpedals and says he doesn't know whose going to win even though he already chose pacquaio to win. Now holyfield is unsure cuz he doubted Floyd for awhile.

Brian Sanichar That was another biased and ignorant statement. It makes it hard to listen to Floyd fans. I'm a fan of Mayweather, but to hear Stephen and others speak annoys me. Everyone seems to have totally forgotten everything about Manny. He has been buckled and hurt before, and he has excellent footwork and the ability to move and counter going backwards. Go back even to the Barrera fight, and you'll see a younger, less skilled Manny showing he has defensive footwork. Just because of all the KO talk, you've all forgotten.
@bizzy9548
@bizzy9548 9 жыл бұрын
jokatech oh OK I agree with you about Manny. He's more versatile than people assume. Manny does have defensive abilities popping in and out hitting from angles. But Manny is left open a lot when he undermines his opponent and throws too many punches at times being on the offensive, mostly leaving him open. Now pacquiao says that he was more worried about other fighters he faced before than floyd. So what does that mean? Is he going to be relentlessly offensive and leave himself open to right hooks and straight rights cuz he doesn't think Floyd has power? Freddie has been re-training Manny to adapt to Floyd's shoulder roll and techniques. But then again manny says he hopes Floyd will want to fight toe to toe. So will Floyd bait Manny into thinking that and catch him numerous times. I'm not being biased or delusional. When pacquiao fights more technical fighters he has to be more careful and that usually frustrates him during the course of the fight. Floyd is the king of doing that to fighters. Manny has a very good chance to pummel Floyd with punches but Floyd also has a very good chance of baiting him into that and capitalizing. I am educated on both fighters and I'm stating my opinion that Floyd will beat Manny on the scorecards.
@jokatech
@jokatech 9 жыл бұрын
I don't see this being a distance fight. Floyd wants and needs the KO. What I liked about Manny, is that although he can box, he doesn't hang his hat on his ability. He and Roach spent the last 2 weeks of camp working on strategy and counter techniques further after doing that during the whole camp. I think the reason Manny isn't worried where Floyd takes it, is because he is conditioned and trained to counter whatever trick he has in store. Floyd senses that as well. That's why with all of the superior skill and mind talk- you see him chopping wood and trying to hulk up for the KO, because he doesn't want this one to go the distance. If it does, Manny has the arsenal to take it. This is going to likely by a Mayweather win by KO in 10 or less, or a possible Manny SD.

Stephen, it was Hagler who wanted the rematch with Leonard. When Leonard did not immediately grant a rematch, Hagler retired. Do not make it seem like Hagler felt that they gave Leonard the decision & he walked away upset. No! He requested a rematch, Leonard did not respond in a timely fashion (in Hagler's mind), so he walked away from the sport of boxing without looking back to a chance of reentering the boxing ring.
@shaunla8725
@shaunla8725 9 жыл бұрын
*****, Stephen is acting like Hagler lost, became upset & retired. It was a close fight, Hagler wanted a direct rematch & Leonard played his waiting game. Stephen stated that if Floyd Jr. wins in the eyes of the public & the judges give it to Manny---we may see Floyd Jr. walking away from the sport of boxing. If such a situation does happen, I think that Floyd Jr. would want a rematch. He granted one to Marcos, because some of the public along with himself thought that it was a close fight. Yet, I doubt that the huge money in a rematch with Manny, as well as a chance to win is too big of an option for him to walk away. Now, if Manny does not grant a rematch, then perhaps, his Hagler to Floyd Jr. comparison would be worthy of a contrast.

David Rice true facts
@shaunla8725
@shaunla8725 9 жыл бұрын
David Rice, Marvin Hagler entire boxing career was based in the middleweight division, why should he move up to light heavyweight to challenge someone, because they want him to move up? The opposition that did advance up in weight to box Hagler, they wanted to move up in weight. If Hagler had dropped down or moved up in weight, you would have a very solid point. But maybe the man wanted to be a middleweight for his entire boxing career. What is wrong with that? Perhaps the answer was right there, hey I am a middleweight for now until I retire.
@shaunla8725

*****, every time that I watch Hagler vs. Leonard, I change my mind on who won.
@shaunla8725
@shaunla8725 9 жыл бұрын
David Rice, the thing about Sugar Ray Leonard & Roy Jones Jr. is that they did the weight-class traveling. We can not speculate why Marvin stayed at middleweight his entire career. Yes, he might have stayed silent at your question, because he could have looked at the question in so many ways that I would end up speculating about the way he could have answered you. Silence is not always an agreement, at times silence is just silence. Bernard Hopkins waited at the middleweight division for several big fights; especially the Oscar fight. I am old-school when it comes to the weight topic. Actually, I enjoy seeing a boxer stay in their weight-class & making it a legacy. Antonio knew that Roy would have issues with speed & muscle building right after Roy did that remarkable step up into heavyweight. This is why Antonio put that pressure on Roy, & I am not making any excuses for Antonio playing the game to get Roy into the ring, but if Roy had stayed at the weight when was so successful during his prime or awaited Antonio to come down or meet him at a catch-weight, the outcomes might have been different in their bouts. I do not even like catch-weight boxing matches, it is too dangerous, just like the weight traveling. But there is an imbalance in boxing right now, where money is dangled in a weight-class before talent & these boxers will risk muscle, weight, & speed in order to meet a new weight-class.

zigzaggered are you boxer? cause I'm sure people like Manny Pacquiao don't fight for the money he doesn't see it as a job its his passion its what saved his life from poverty. Also, being hurt means nothing in boxing thats all you're doing is getting hurt lol theyre just punching each other the whole time people appreciate a fucking brawl thats what people want to see. And also his statement may only refer to him because boxers get hurt all the time but are still considered champions.
@missionpupa
@missionpupa 9 жыл бұрын
assy mcgee Don't tell me its his passion, you obviously dont know what youre talking about. Boxing is only a job for Manny, how do I know this? Because he NEVER goes into the boxing gym unless he has a fight coming up. This is a fact, and Manny has mentioned this so many times. Floyd also thinks of it as a job, but the difference is, he still goes to the gym regularly. Manny just wanted the money, that is why he went to this fight with 1 arm (as he claims) or Floyd beat him up so bad that hes just making excuses that he had 1 arm. No one is so stupid to fight the Pound-for-Pound chamption with 1 arm, and leave as a winner is a joke. Manny mentioned pre-fight that he was 100%, you tell me that you're 100% when youre asking for a shoudler injection on the same day.

Evander had a point at the end, with size is not the factor if you have skill. Haye beat that giant Russian dude, who could of been a wrestler instead of a boxer. Tyson have beaten giants as well. I've seen MMA fighters prevail over the size factor a few times. One fight that comes to mind is When Bob Sapp fought that Brazilian fighter who weigh close to 200 lbs less than he did. The Brazilian was skilled enough to submit Sapp, after a tough battle.

So Stephen A is a D*** rider because he is a fan of Floyd and everyone of Manny fans such as Skip Bayless (who I like very much don't get the same status. Haven't seen one comment about that. Shows you how far Floyds haters go. He a fan, get over it. I don't hear none of you saying the same to Manny fans. Geez, stop hating for once.
@modetallah
@modetallah 9 жыл бұрын
Donald Thomas It's pretty simple really. It's classic good vs. evil. On one hand you have Manny Pacquiao who is a model husband and father, a religious man, and an actual upstanding politician that helps the poor in his homeland; who would of thought those existed but if it would be anyone, of course it would be Manny. Then you have Floyd Mayweather Jr. The man is constantly trash talking, is easily the most conceited person on the Earth today, and last, but certainly not least, he also beats women. I hope this helped you see why people hate, nay, despise Mayweather and those that hug onto his nutsack. It's like choosing between God and the Devil. Pretty simple, right?
@donaldthomas7576
@donaldthomas7576 9 жыл бұрын
Nope it's not simple, because like always you only name the good stuff about manny. He not such a model citizen. fighting animals (remember everyone hated Vick for that), cheating on his wife, sleeping with hookers. And you hate someone because the flash something they earned themself and has zero influence on your life? Give gives back. He just don't flash it like manny do. Nope not very simple. And you still didn't answer my question. Why is being a fan of Mayweather "D***riding, but it's not if you a manny fan. I'm guessing manny's wrongs are less wrong then Floyds.
@donaldthomas7576
@donaldthomas7576 9 жыл бұрын
*floyd gives back
@modetallah
@modetallah 9 жыл бұрын
Donald Thomas It's not that simple because you clearly have bias. I wrote my comment in an extremely dramatic fashion in such a way it couldn't possibly be misunderstood. But still you twisted it because of your own personal bias. How about this: Satan controls people to murder other people, while Jesus lets children starve in Africa. Who do you despise more? Don't try to explain it to me, I already understand it, you're the one asking the question. It's a timeless scenario.
@donaldthomas7576
@donaldthomas7576 9 жыл бұрын
I'm not bias, I didn't say Floyd antics are ok. I don't judge him no more than I judge manny for his past antics. I diss like both. All I care about is Floyds ability to box. That's it. People hate him because of his antics and then like manny and ignore his antics. BOTH are bad but because one is out spoken and the other is "humble" one gets hated more than the other. How is that being bias?

I agree with the heavyweight talk, if the rest of the divisions all come in around the same weight, (it's even in the contracts) then I think the heavyweights should have to also. If Klitschko comes in at 240, his opponent has to come in around 240 as well. It should be fair. I understand there are tons of guys that are like 200 pounds that can beat a person at 240, but just does not add up to me. Does not seem fair.

Steven A should, watch again: Morales/Pac1, Marq/Pac 1/2/3, Pac/Cotto, Pac/Margarito, Each of those fights he had to endure. He fought from the ropes. He survived. So all due respect to Floyd, you might just dominate Pac, but the hearts of the people still flow with the underdog. I can't root for a man who abuses and hits women. Character. No resentments towards his acomplishments he's a superb boxer.

Unless pac gets a ko, mayweathers gonna win cause he fights like a bitch. He doesnt box he fights to score points based on how the system works. people say that makes him great, no that means hes great at using the system and delaying for 12 rounds it doesnt mean hes actually a good fighter.

Holyfield is telling the truth, the art of boxing is gone. I saw two guys in a boxing match last week and I was saddened to see what the sport has become. Two people with their feet squared, no balance, chins up and swinging for dear life. The Alexis Arguello types are forever gone. Hopkins and Mayweather are the last.

I think Holyfield was too mired in personal bias toward Manny to give a coherent assessment in this debate. He's is also to simpleminded and too cohered into this religious mumbo jumbo, to give logical prognostication and discernment of the skill set level of the two fighters to call the fight.

Floyd keeps saying that everybody is in title to their own opinion but he always get defensive when someone calls him out. Floyd can't get but hurt and then say it doesn't bother you.

This is what people like Steven A doesn't understand. Most people do not hate Floyd for his hard work, what he earned, and what he accomplished in the sport of boxing. He is hated because he hasn't won the hearts of the people. He doesn't help out his community or the black community in that matter with the wealth he earned, not to mention his comment claiming he was better than Ali. His not a good role model for kids he beat his ex wife and denied it even though he plead guilty. Hell if you don't believe that look at Adrian Bronor. Is because of these things we he is hated. Floyd is an awesome boxer and proved he is the best of this era on May 2nd but because of those things it is why he was booed after he won and the loser received an encore. The people don't care nor want him anymore in the world of boxing.

I was always told always look out for number 1, cause folks don't like, love, or care about you if you can't or aint doing what they want. Floyd know him and his fam must come first. In the end we will all move on to the next star, and it is what he does and makes now that will carry them. Remember boxing has no union and its the last sport to be ran this way. Boxers retire and use all the winnings on medical bills.
