Thank you so much Sergei - will definitely check if I'm doing these mistakes - I suspect I'm making at least two of them for sure.

Nice video: To easily correct the position of the head, use a tennis ball ... doing laps with a tennis ball gives kinesthetic information to the freediver
@KAIZENFREEDIVING3 жыл бұрын
Actually this what I was told when was doing my freediving courses. Unfortunatly it teach a freediver to bring the chin too close to the chest, because during this swims with a tenis ball he learnt to squeeze a ball.

So, tenis ball fixing one problem (looking forward) by creating another problem (chin too close to the chest).

Hi Sergei, for the bouyancy, what if the diver is negative bouyancy even not wearing any weight? Need to do kicking to maintain the neutral bouyancy. If gliding then the diver will sank.

Hi! Kicking is not affecting the buoyancy. It can affect the position in the water (surface, bottom, middle water). To be natural buoyant, this freediver needs to use a wetsuit :)

Thank you Sergei, another great video. Regarding the first section of the video - I am aware of the amount of weight I need to be neutrally buoyant in the pool during my DYN sessions when I work on my technique. However, on my hypercapnic swim days - when I work to improve the CO2 tolerance I deliberately underweight myself knowing that I would have to work harder in order to prevent from coming up to the surface. My question to you is - would you consider this a beneficial hypercapnic exercise for the purpose of CO2 tolerance? I appreciate your help as I still consider myself a beginner. I fell in love with freediving in the summer of 2020 and now converting to free after 19 years of scuba.

Hi Adrian. Yes, it is a common idea to be underweighted to make an exercise harder. I personally dont agree since you will compromise your technique by doing so. If I want to make my CO2 training harder, I can simple reduce rest interval, right?

Hi, I am currently doing DYN workouts in a very small pool, so instead of doing laps, I am holding the edge of the pool with both hands while doing the kicking. I am doing this for CO2 tolerance workouts, not for working on the swimming technique. I know that the resistance on the fins is not exactly the same as I am not using both sides of the fin as I would do while progressing underwater. Where I live the water is 14C in the pool and I am using a 7mm wetsuit. It would be difficult for me to reach neutral buoyancy in a very shallow pool, even using a lot of weight so I adjusted my workout taking these limitations in mind. I try to keep the fins underwater at all times even if this creates some tension as I am holding the edge of the pool with my hands, not to move forward with the kicking. Do you think my plan B is valid or a bad option? Any suggestions? Thanks

Good question! In fact, I have an idea to make the video about training at the small pool. Answering your question, of course, it is not the best for your technique (it even can potentially have a small negative effect on it), but it is better than nothing. You can work for your CO2 tolerance and also make your legs hypoxic by sprint style movement (as an example 10 seconds fast kicking, 20 seconds rest, 10-second kicking, 20 secs rest etc).

Yes, this dry exercise can help to fix kicking technique! In my opinion it is a great exercise!
