Having met the old Marquis over tea at Longleat just a few years before he passed, I hope he was assured that he had left this great British historical treasure in the capable hands of his son & heir, who has chosen an intelligent, level-headed and well-educated life partner, who wants to help her husband preserve a part of British cultural heritage.

where does Daddy Longleat meet the wifelets when he hardly leaves that room? Is he on posh Tinder or something?!And more importantly, its quite bizarre that the deep racism that Emma is still experiencing-including from her mother in law-is not mentioned at all. In that regard, the wifelets become minor distractions to the deeper social, racial and political contradictions of this marriage. I say good on them sharing the beauty of their estate and bringing life and fun to the place. Otherwise without the energy generated by all their visitors a place like that will eventually die. A house (no matter how big) absorbs the energy generated by those inside and out. Just look at how quickly a house will deteriotate when noone lives in it.

Yes but the danger in this is that they could be turning it to much into a musem and theam park rather than a Home. these houses were intended to be Private Pairadises for the British elite class. you have to allow the public in but i feel there is a danger in allowing it to become less of a Private family home and into a Buissness.

One wants change and the other wants continuity. Just so maddening though for Lord Bath to take umbrage at the re-painting of the walls, the curator was quite correct in wanting the walls painted in the original colour to better show off the paintings. All that care and time in taking down the paintings and then having to put them back - infuriating for the son and curator.
