Most people commenting didn't realize what happened in this video. Steve Vai's string snapped during his solo, and on a guitar with a Floyd Rose, when that happens, it completely detunes the guitar. So, take a close look at what occurred: he started his solo by hitting a note, thus figuring out the key the string was in, and then he played the entire solo with just that one string. If that's not the ultimate demonstration of mastery of his instrument for you, then I don't know what is. I'm a big fan of Timmons and Paul G, but what we witnessed in this video was an absolute lesson in musical mastery from Steve Vai.

Andy opened with a mind-boggling solo and his tone is unreal....Paul is his usual blistering alternate picking self with a little legato.....Steve was unbelievable even when he broke a string and he was still in tune!!......when I break a string on my Ibanez it goes totally out of whack....gotta buy a JEM I guess!

@@scarletvonalisha aparentemente você não percebeu o que aconteceu. A corda do Vai arrebentou na hora do solo dele e em uma Floyd Rose desafina a guitarra por completo quando uma corda arrebenta. Então analisa bem o que ocorreu: ele deu uma nota, percebeu em que tom a corda estava e fez o solo INTEIRO com uma só corda. Se pra vocês isso não é a maior demonstração de domínio do seu instrumento entre os 3, então eu não sei o que é. OBS.: Sou fã demais do Timmons e PG, mas o que vimos aqui nesse vídeo foi uma absoluta aula de domínio musical do Vai.

Steve played with broken string. If I am not mistaken it's really difficult, cause Jem guitars have powerful whammy bar mechanism, but broken string spoils balance and the rest strings play out of tune. I also like when all these virtuosos play together without competition and treat themselves as a good friends. What a difference with Ritchie Blackmore and his arrogancy
