Base pay is simply too low. It needs to be at least $5 minimum base pay, and when an order takes my over 10 miles outside my zone like happened last night, I need to be compensated more for that. Pay is the elephant in the room, and they just refuse to acknowledge the real issue. Also, here in Maine, autonomous delivery won't be happening any time soon simply due to environmental factors, distances, and the fact that you'd probably lose half your drones at the last mile of the delivery. Too many junked up yards.
@stevewoodyt7 күн бұрын
The reason they even have these calls is to reassure investors that they are going to see a return on their investment. Every 99 days DD needs to have more profit than the previous. There is only one way left to do that. Turn driver pay into profit. The customer pool is running dry. Raising prices the customer has to pay won’t work because that will turn into lost sales and lost customers. Do you think their execs and upper management are going to let them take their pay and bonuses to shift that over to profits? Unlikely. Maybe Trump will let them have some tax cuts? Not out of the question but that also will have a cost associated with it and take time. Drivers will be forking over the profits needed without consent until we can’t anymore. No driver, no customers, no profits, no DD. I would say it been fun but it’s really just been frustrating.

I just tried dashing for the first time this week. Was on my first dash and their in app navigation tried to lead me down a one way street the wrong way. And it wasn't a fluke. It does it every time there's an order going that direction. I called doordash and chose the option to "report a major safety issue" and they basically told me they didn't care and to just use a different navigation app or don't go that way. I have done a total of 31 deliveries for them and already found multiple major issues with them as a company, the way they treat drivers, and safety issues like the one I described.

As a Tesla owner that has the full self driving 30 day trial right now I tried to use the autonomous Summon feature which brings the car to you...needless to say it messed up twice. Standard FSD is pretty solid but point being tech/AI/autonomous systems still have plenty of work to do.

See, that's the trick. An autonomous delivery vehicle doesn't need to be able to deliver the order 100% of the time, it just needs to succeed often enough that it doesn't cause customers to leave the platform. The goal is not necessarily to make doordash more money as much as it is to induce "competition" for drivers on the platform, thus pressuring them into accepting lower payouts and worse deliveries. Don't want to take this 5 mile delivery for 1.80? Cool, we'll just have our drone take the order at a profit loss.

In my area they’re partnered with all the big grocery stores and it’s great money per hr for low miles. 25$ shops for 10-20 items all day long

There’s a giant grocery chain they’ve partnered with in my area and I never expected it because they have their own delivery service. I actually did one and even though it was a lot of dropoffs, it was actually decent money for the time.

I was platinum and used to get good catering orders. can't work my way back up to that 100 deliveries a month point and just seeing bad orders as fewer and fewer people tip, especially for Dashmart. I turned groceries off as they were using it as a way to order 200lbs of cases of water and 80lb dog food, up to their skycraper apt with no tip and no parking spot. I usually use Uber Eats now as I have more choice to just keep rejecting the people who think I should bring them their food for $2, or their year's supplies.
@johngrafton68687 күн бұрын
Getting a grocery order for 6-10 dollars for up to 40 items is a waste of time and an insult to the drivers. Normally, one would get that for a pick and delivery order so you are donating your time for WHAT?
@LindaE-we5pz7 күн бұрын
3 years in-22/25 hrs per week, over 8k deliveries and platinum. I like preferences options and now I only do food... DD needs to do better with screening drivers in its Catering/large orders. It should be as it was a separate program with standards. However, if I am out on Sundays I’m more open. No cash, no alcohol. Dash mart pay is low and too many miles, market remains over saturated with (new dashers) they stand out. It’s still a do more for less. Don’t see base $ changing, but they can do more to push tips..by educating users-the suggested scale hurts. Thank god for regular service users and good tippers who respect drivers work. My market(Toledo )is steady and I work it like a business and don’t accept ever offer. We must understand it’s a side hustle and adapt to the apps or walk away.

Okay, copy and spread this far and wide for food delivery drivers. How about giving the delivery driver a mandatory .25 cents minimum per minute of order waiting times alongside of the original offer? If you have to wait more than just a pick up and go then you should be paid to wait for the order to be made ready for delivery. Meaning if you wait one minute extra time add .25 cents if you wait 4 minutes add $1.00....... wait 8 minutes? add $2.00 to the offer standard minimum. The longer we wait the more we get paid.....we are waiting for free and to our bottom line crashing further into poverty level. When they see what's really going on to the drivers they will correct the wait times either from the restaurant or delivery app offer timing. They already know we are waiting for free peeps!!!! If it's going to cost someone then it should not be the delivery drivers. Spread this thought and idea far and wide..... make it go viral!!!

Don't focus so much on total items with Shop & Deliver. The reason being that you can often see orders with multiple quantities of one item (like 10 individually wrapped jerky sticks) or orders that have a lot of items down one aisle (like baking soda, flour, baking powder, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, chocolate chips, frosting, etc). That'll easily bump up the item count, but you will not be running down multiple aisles and you'll get done with the order pretty fast.

When I started 6 years ago I made $20-30/hr. annual income was $25-30,000. I averaged 30 hours a week. I am now struggling to make $10/hr. I’m so disappointed that I need to get a $15/hr job at Target as an in-store shopper to fulfill pickup orders. DD needs to market their drivers better to customers. There should be a minimum drivers’ tip based on miles that customers will have to pay when the distance is over 5 miles.

The problems I have as well as others. DD does not seem like they will fix things, some of the things I question the Legal aspects. For most gig apps support for the most part sucks. Yes we can all get someone that tries but most can only do so much and why most the time it takes us bunch of times to get to a good support agent. I think DD and others need to figure out a way to give idea of pay for doing x amount of time and or orders like in the way of giving us true amounts or good range that make sense to drivers in the real world lol. Like example if they said work this 3 hrs for $80-120 & 30-60 miles, kind of like the new dash link but still doing the normal deliveries. If it was more like this I would not care about the one that dont tip or miles given that it makes sense to do it. Any way I find in my area makes more sense for now to do EBT. Along with doing spark sams orders that make sense and pop up.

The new dasher rewards program hit several months ago - not long after the peak pay exploded in the area and I saw MANY new drivers - not many of the old timers at all.
