The sad part about it was, according to Matty, the drive was giving out on Whiplash by the end of their fight against Witch Doctor, to the point where he could just barely move the bot back and forward.

Yes, in the Robocast Matt said the batteries were pretty much died when reached the last moment in his fight against Witch Doctor, they were absolutely toasted to that point.

In the most recent Robocast, Matt said something along the lines of “Whiplash has to be winning for the entire match, while bots like Cobalt or Witch Doctor only need to be winning for half a second,” and that sums it all up. As much as I was rooting for Whiplash, I knew it was gonna be an uphill battle for them. They essentially needed to endure and outdrive a one-hit KO bot with a phenomenal driver, after having faced three previous bots in one day. They were *this* close, but it wasn’t enough.

I think I saw somewhere whiplash lost a receiver in the big hit. This fight is best explained by deontay wilder. "My opponent (whiplash) has to be perfect for the full fight I (witchdoctor) have to be perfect for 3 seconds"

Really enjoying these reviews, thanks for putting them together. I agree with you, this was a fantastic episode, the best one since the Hypershock episodes. So many great fights. Really hard to pick a winner for this week, it’s so stacked. But if I had to, I’d give it to Tantrum.

Anyone else think that Perfect Phoenix's blade in the second fight looks like that of Little Fly from series 4 of Robot Wars? I don't think it's spinner even reached the edges of it's body! 🤦‍♂

The weapon was so small because they only had 1 weapon motor to run anything at all due to the other one burning up in their previous match.

The kinda driving whiplash did this episode is the reason we need some changes, not only too the rules but the arena. we really need more ways for control bots too score point or but the opponent out of the arena. The increased damage vertical spinners have brought last couple of years could be countered if control bots was allowed to capitalize on the control the vertical spinners lose due to gyro or trading up in spinning power over drive power. If there was ways that a control bot could put you out like a vertical spinner can if they hit right, the natural evolution of the bot building would on its own create a balance. And for me at least the increased technical driving a control bot bring, is a lot more entertaining in the long run than 2 awkward, but powerful spinners hitting each other.(though bots go boom is still fun once in a episode).

@@GojiraFan-in9oo remember Tombstone vs Jackpot…? Despite of hitting less harden than now, the 2019-20 Tombstone was a lot more reliable than the current version. The drive system really get screwed with the new chassis. Recently, Ray said in an interview on Skorpios Builder Blog he needs to make an entirely different drive system because the old and faithful system he used for more than 18 years doesn't fit with the current design.

Really good episode! The Whiplash team confirmed on Facebook that they had a, in their own words, "A poorly mounted receiver switch that came loose in the final impact, coming off with enough energy to break the wires connecting it." But they say they'll get them next time. Hopefully, next time they fight, the Witch Doctor team might take your suggestion of Skeleton Finger Wedglets for their robot and not just rely on their disc as a wedge. Best fight was Whiplash against Black Dragon, because of how personal it is a Grudge match battle. My prediction is Glitch winning the Finale Tournament, but I would love to see Hypershock do well. We'll see what happens. :)

@@battleblobfish1159 I just chose Glitch on the fact it's dedign is very innovative and could be the future of Fighting Robots. I'd like to be wrong as I want to see the likes of Witch Doctor or Hypershock win, them being some of my favourites on Battlebots.

@@BBR421 I agree with you on the concept and I loved it when they were introduced but they haven’t ironed out drive and have been undefeated due to luck obviously some fights like against hydra they deserved to win. However if current glitch whos drive is compromised right now it would be anti climatic I also agree with teams like witch doctor, hyper shock and skorpios who have been so close yet so far

I'm pulling for Tantrum for the Golden Bolt! It's probably the best combination of all of the positives of the other robots in the bracket, its an absolute tank and has both the momentum and great driving to keep plowing though.

I think Captain Shredderator it's twice bot than ever and it show a lot of reliability this season compared with its previous iterations, but they really have problems when have to manage a counter punch. I think wide wheels like Gigabyte's could help a lot to grab the ground a bit more to reduce the recoils.

@@teamlastchancem5195 maybe because it tends to be disappointing. In their fights we see it can deliver monster punches but ends up dying early. Most of the people complains about it and I think that's why is kinda hard to root for them. In my case I'm just neutral, but can't deny its potential.

I feel like the Golden Bolt fight will come down to Hypershock vs Tantrum. And Seems Reasonable will have their work cut out for them trying to beat it. Never seen a bot dish out this much destruction to such high-level competition before.

What I really like about both bots..........they seem like they would be fun as hell to just drive around without the weapon on. Which I just assume means that the drivers have tons of practice. They just look fun.

I'm going with tantrum taking the w on the championship. Even though it's the easy pick. I feel like they've mastered the ground game, they mastered the control game and the ability for them to deal damage precisely when they want with that puncher is invaluable.

It's also fast as hell, about as armored as any bot and just cool. My only real concern with it is it getting caught up on debris. I really wish there was a better floor. Hell I wish the "kill slots" didn't exist too. (not because it favors any bot, just because it sucks in general) Hypershock looked so damn impressive. I think I just love Tantrum's uniqueness and it's story. Hell, I fucking love Uppercut. Not really original.....but when it does good it does really good. (actually just think the team needs to be able to work on it a lot more than they do) I edited this post to remove negative shit I wrote about some bots. (most just me not liking some of them for no good reason) I'm sick of negativity in the comments section and didn't want to do it especially as your post never had anything negative.

Honestly, much in line with what Peter Ambrahamson said about the top 32 bracket last year where anyone of those machines could've won it? Genuinely anyone in the Champions bracket could win it. Outside pick would be either End Game or Tantrum, Hypershock could do very well (this version of Hypershock has won me over on them, I never really got the hype over them in previous seasons but this has been a full 180), even Tombstone is still in with a shout, as is Witch Doctor. Glitch I think is the weakest link of the chain in the whole thing, their fight against Witch Doctor will probably not go in their favour, I think Mike is too good a driver to let Glitch's traction defecits affect the fight. Either way, anyone who wins, they'll have to put up a *hell* of a fight.

I think the last fight of episode 6 will be Glitch vs End Game. Glitch wins the golden bolt is my prediction.

I think its going to either two ways. It will be the worst kinda finals ever, Witchdocotor vs tantrum. Witchdocotor will win because of a lucky early hit. Followed by getting a faulty drive train and then 2 and half minutes of driving in circles. And instead of the community feeling like Witchdoctor have proven itself by winning, people will start the same kinda shit we saw at the finals. Hypershock and Will bales will bring their perfect A game to every match. And drive circles around the opponent like Speed Racer on cocaine, giving the audience, the battlebot experience of the century. Who he faces doesnt matter, it will only look like a dust cloud anyways. But my money is on Ribbot.

WD should never, ever go back to their normal spinner. Also my sympathy for Whiplash was somewhat mitigated by their not using their disk setup even once. They need that killing ability against top opponents.
