Same here. I loved this show back then, actually I still do. Seeing this special 20th anniversary of All in the Family, 30 years after taping it myself triggers some very strong emotions. As much as I love this show it reminds me of how much I miss my family, childhood and the show itself. The most painful part is knowing that they are NEVER coming back. This makes me wish that I could just somehow set things back the way they used to be. I feel that I've been left behind with only grief and broken memories. I'm constantly left wondering how I am supposed to carry on, when all that I've been living for is gone. It hurts, hurts so much.

On February 16, 1991 CBS aired a 90-minute retrospective, All in the Family 20th Anniversary Special, was produced to commemorate the show's 20th anniversary and aired on CBS February 16, 1991. It was hosted by Norman Lear, and featured a compilation of clips from the show's best moments, and interviews with the four main cast members. The special was so well received by the viewing audience (ratings: 14.7 household rating from 8-9:30pm while Empty Nest garnered a 17.3) that CBS decided to air reruns of All in the Family during their summer schedule 4 months later in 1991.

The tender moments they had together were so sweet. It was RARE but always welcome after all of his bigoted diatribe. Their will NEVER be another show like this one. Simply outstanding acting.

Amazing the beloved set was still around and in place for the introduction of this 20th anniversary special in 1991. I wonder when it was finally taken down. Anybody know? What a sad day that must''ve been. The Smithsonian says Archie and Edith's iconic chairs were donated to them in 1978, but the show hadn't ended then, and even after it had, the chairs still continued showing up in the spin-off Archie Bunker's Place scenes that were filmed at home, so their history is somewhat murky. The set was obviously still around at that time to be filmed for those scenes. And it apparently was still around in 1991. But who knows what happened with it after that.
