One of the things that I like about Kaiju No.8 is the same reason I like How to train your dragon, both delve it to how the creatures work, their types how they function etc, its really cool they go indeptht with it. Also like Kafka finding ways to be usefull in the fight without transforming, like if Eren was capable outside of Titan form. Also also, I like that all the characters are just friends and rivals motivating eachother, no major/overplayed drama that happens in similar shows, just dudes and dudettes shooting the shit, killing Kaiju

I love this show a lot because they actually go into details about Kaijus, the characters are likable and the scenarios of MC are kinda realistic and relatable. Oh and the villain seems, menacing.

The manga is very popular. Its just people have been causing a huff about how the anime is taking things slow and the animation has changed the artstyle quiet abit. But i like it becuase it chainsaw man and dandadan all feel like shonen that evolved to have more mature characters or mature themes/art.

Correct. 5yr age gap, Mina is 27 and Kafka is 32. The flashbacks of when they were kids were around the time Mina was a “1st grader” and Kafka was a “6th grader.” Most Elementary schools in Japan go from 1st to 6th, middle is 7th-9th and high school is 10th-12th grade. I know your mentioning Kaiju views and TBH it looks like no one is really getting major numbers. Only 1 channel broke 100k in a vod but that was episode 1/2 where they got 190k-170k after that it dropped to around closer to 100k than on episode 5 they've dropped nearly half again around 60k. Every other channel I see hovers around under 10k with only one other channel being consistent around 25k per episode. Yall by in large based on quick searches have the second highest view count so I don't belive the whole it's a dub issue is backed by any data even other channels doing sub arnt doing well. I tbh think it's a issue with how the anime was hyped. It's part of this wave like Dandadan and CSM that have manga with incredibly harsh detailed art and something to stand out from more normal Shonen from the past few seasons like more mature themes, diffrent protags mentally than the norm, ect. KAIJU 8 being a digital manga like CSM was actually outselling a majority of Shonen and rising. With stuff like JJK and Demon Slayers being exceptions. But ever since the anime announcement that would hopefully boost sales and views all I've seen is drama. From people not liking the protag being older/not normal, to the art changes in the anime removing the Mangas details, to the very little hype even leading to release online since the manga was in a downturn part at the moment and people were waiting for it to ramp up again. I also think the beginning of Kaijo No 8 is abit slow which matters less in a manga but the anmie has slow rolled it also which it feels these days you get only 2 episode before someone drops a anime vs non seasonal anime of old. At this point I just hope it gets a second season or Dandadan does much better.

Kinda hate 12 ep series everyone turns to fans and says they overhyped it when it’s like 30 charts of material. In that time one piece bleach and Naruto barely started and look at em now.

@@nichescenes Yeah but 1) After each episode the fans kept writing "masterpiece", I watched the episodes and every time I thought "what the fuck did they see that I don't see?". 2) Hyping up just the battles is exactly why a show is overrated... if they are the only interesting thing then the series overall is mid at best. 3) I saw 10 episodes if I'm not mistaken, and in those 10 episodes the only noteworthy character was the protagonist. All other felt like NPCs. There wasn't an interesting dialogue with anyone, other than the monologues that the protagonist did alone. Making the comparison with Kaiju n8, in six episodes they introduced Mina, Reno, the vice-captain, Shinomiya etc. Lots more interesting people to keep an eye on, even if they may turn out to be useless in the end. Even One Piece which is very slow, in 10 episodes introduced Luffy, Koby, Zoro, Buggy, Nami and Usopp...

@@Lightsephiroth for battles a show isn’t automatically mid imo if you set out for that and accomplish it. Like ninja Kami got dull when it tried to be more than simple revenge plot. That said you could do the other way and be full of all you do is try to be deep or character driven and no action in a series setting out for action. It’s execution and I think the fans are like always judging on the context of what you can do in 6 eps. In 6 eps Goku barely did anything, Naruto too, one piece. Even beloved berserk. We expect too much. Yeah it wasn’t a masterpiece in comparison to stuff today but if you’re a fan and getting what you want I can’t hate. Like fans watching a romance series where all they do is will they or won’t they hook up. Riveting to them not to others.

Some people want to proyect themsleves in fantasies of "serious and complex" violence (There is nothing bad in enjoying those kind of stories tho). But a lot of them need to relax and remember that all of this is just fiction and is not bad to have a simple and lighthearted yet effective show to watch.

The Japanese voice actor for the main character spends a lot less time sounding intentionally silly. Not that the English is bad, the vibe is just different. It IS pretty serious. Not TRYING to start a sub vs dub debate, but I'm sure it'll happen because I brought up differences anyway, so I apologize in advance.

One thing about this manga/anime. The side characters really has time to shine. It feels like it's patterned after Haikyuu where you get to know the side characters. But, man Hoshino and Ichikawa will have their own glow-up. Obviously that is going to be later and not in this season.

I've read the manga and also thought it had a lot of potential at first , but after 66 chapters the story wasn't really going anywhere interesting for me , so I dropped it. I saw other people's comments that it fell off for them too . Hence I'm not really invested in this show 😅 ,but I'm sure people will love the first season though.

@@user-gq7nd4dl3v I’d say you do get reveals but I think all your questions are spread out. These days people want a bit too much forced face like tell me the one piece by episode 30. The comic only has enough material wise for like 40 eps. It’s not supposed to be a short story where the character progresses in an arc. But yes if your watching and waiting for it to be super deep or break the mold vs see hype level ups and thrilling developments. I’d say no. Not yet. I feel it’s akin to season 1 of attack on titan. There are tons of hints of what’s really going on and people call it overrated just like they did when attack on Titans. First season was beloved, but in hindsight, you can see a lot of things that were foreshadowed for later, but the series is not gonna move that fast just like attack on Titan had 25 to almost 40 episodes before the big switch in reveal that made everyone go crazy. You guys have to be a little more patient. It’s gonna seem like another generic show and didn’t attack on Titan feel that way as well for some people. Not me just repeating what people said who hate AOT early on. Every show in the first 30 eps aka 70 chapters of material might feel less impressive if your comparing it in you mind to series that answer all your questions. One piece bleach hxh etc in the first 10 eps wasn’t peak either. But again as someone who read/watched summaries on KZbin yeah it gets more thrilling. Answers a few questions but not big ones and it can seem annoying as they only hint at the big answers. So no I’d drop if I were you but before you do try watching said KZbin vids. In the time it takes to watch 6 eps it will tell you the entire story. So you can decide on your own. IMO the final arc or closest one was the most thrilling for someone catching up. Don’t know how people can think the opening is more exciting besides those who focus too much on him being 30 and transforming. A lot more character work later even if it’s the cliche I don’t wanna hurt people am I a monster thing. Lastly villian are monsters so don’t expect too much personality more horror movie less Kira or light etc.

I’ve actually really been enjoying the anime so far. I don’t know why others aren’t liking it or aren’t watching it. I just really like the MC. I love how he isn’t a prodigy teen. Not that those are bad. It is just a fun difference. This and Windbreaker are my two current watches that I’ve been enjoying. But also hating, because I have to wait weekly. When I first started watching anime it was a bit later in life. So, all the anime I was watching was already finished, so I could binge it. It had been so long since I’ve watched regular tv. I definitely did not miss the having to wait. But, that has nothing to do with the shows quality or anything. Just something I wanted to state. I do like that it comes out the same time as the dub though. I wish that were the case for all anime.

This show reminds me of MHA when it first came out.... The manga was so popular but the anime didn't gain traction until the 2nd season... We're still on episode 6, but you got to admit, no matter if people like it or not... Everyone, and I mean "EVERYONE", is talking about this anime! (And if you read the manga, it gets better...)

I know some people disliked the art style is a lot more simplistic in comparison to the manga, at least when it comes to the human characters, and I can kind of see that, their torsos look kind of flat, the features are sorta plain and lack definition, and the faces are a bit oddly shaped, but it doesn't ruin the show for me or anything, I'm still enjoying it

I'm a fan of the manga, so I was really looking forward to this anime, and so far, I'm really enjoying it. The only I'm iffy about this anime is the art which seems off at times. I really liked Kaiju 8's start in the manga, but the weekly release made me less immersive, so maybe if i reread it will get me hype again. I dont think it got bad but some people do. Imo its the same as jjk and other manga, it got popular, then a huge number of people caught up at the same time and became frustrated with any sense of slowness or slightly bad writing, echo chambering their opinions until its horrible quality in their minds. At least thats what i know about the manga. The anime is really cool, animation, music and opening.

Not hate watching here. This show just didn’t really catch my interest until episode 5. For me it’s like any other shonen, but the protagonist is 30 instead of a teenager. Which is fine. A good natured guy with powers just isn’t fresh anymore. Enjoying the show enough, but it doesn’t feel like a real standout yet. Kafka really looks and feels like grown up Naruto to me, with Denji adjacent creature powers. Plus, I think Crunchyroll and production really tried to push this as the next big thing, and it just didn’t take off. Maybe it’ll pick up a following as the series continues.

Also what ive notice that people just don't like how the main guy is fat and a nobody i notice the Japanese audience doesnt like how he looks being a nobody every day person and fat the Japanese voice actor actually had to tweet out defending how the anime character actually looks in the show so i guess because of the genre that all Mc have to be cool and buff with super Powers instead got basically a regular older dude then usual the way i notice Japanese audience want younger teens as main characters heck in final Fantasy 12 the main character was in his 30s and the audience test scores in japan was so bad they created a teen character instead and id anyone played ff12 knows who im talking about

The only valid criticism I can get behind on why some don’t like the show is the character design being a bit “soft.” The primary person in charge of character design was involved in the Boruto (yuck) anime character design so it appears cartoony to some. But, the manga art is exceptional, much more gritty and dark so it does seem a bit off to have such a difference in art style but I think it’s fine it looks good. Some crazy manga panels just can’t be translated fully to animation (see Chainsaw Man).

Oh look another boruto hater what a suprise 🙄. There's nothing wrong the character designs in this show, it allows for more fluid and bouncier character animation, which is more important in an anime ADAPTATION. If people care about the art more they can just stick to the manga 🤷

0:53 The manga is currently in a slump right now but fingers crossed would be an understatement actually. 7:14 Once he mentioned 'babysitting', those Yoju started to look like new born hybrid spiders & it actually made me feel bad since they didn't exactly try to eat Kafka & just brushed him off. 10:42 Finally! Someone actually said what I was thinking since episode 1. You're not ready for the next 2 episodes. The manga is not enough. 11:18 Light dimming is gone, which is a start. But we need more female reactor screams. 14:13 Meaning their Vice Captain Is the last line of defense assuming Kafka doesn't transform. 15:22 Why? Why?

Kaiju is good until a point. The story also moves too quickly, this point my feels less like that with the current pacing of the anime but reading the manga it really is too fast. The anime so far adapts the good part so it's fine but the main criticizm would be the character designs that looks weird on so many moments so far. The humor is a hit or miss in general and in the anime it's more emphasized with the slower adaptation so it's a miss most of the time for me. Everything else should be good for at least 2 seasons i think.

You can’t compare this to solo leveling. Solo leveling was one of the greatest manwahs ever and and a MASSIVE following. Everyone was sad when it ended because it was a hell of a ride. Years later it gets a anime adaptation. Remember it was a MANWAH not manga, mangas get anime adaptation not manwahs nut solo got one and for a damn good reason. Kaiju 8 is a manga that’s STILL ongoing. It’s a crime to compare it to solo leveling when it’s not even finished.

It's not bad, it's just mid. We've seen most of this stuff in other anime and to be honest, the other anime that this stuff comes from did it better. And that's the problem. Imagine a company spends hundreds of millions on a super impressive ad campaign, promising this amazing product that everyone will love and when it shows up you go "Well, it's okay, I guess..."

I wish they would have invested themselves into shows with better stories (like 20th century boys for example) than choosing mangas mainly based on fighting. (I mean one of my favourite shows this season is The Fable but it has a very low budget animation)
