Re: the driving modes (Normal, Eco, Sport, and Custom) - - those aren't only accessible via the screen. The buttons on the steering wheel are customizable. I was able to put all 4 of those onto the steering wheel so that I can change driving modes at the touch of a button, and it's incredibly easy to do. Took me all of 1 minute to set it all up. Have the car now for about 6 weeks. I'm completely blown away. Wanted a BMW X5, but it couldn't compare to the power and drive of this car -- plus, prior BMWs were full of reliability problems and high maintenance costs. I won't be going back.

Such a shame about the V6 going away on the RX, but this is the reality now. As of December 2022, I am a former two-time Lexus RX owner since 2006. I really enjoyed both of those cars. The new RX looks great, but gotten way too expensive, substantially more expensive than my previous RX’s. I bought a 2023 Mazda, CX 50 in December. I drive a Rav4 Hybrid and I think the gas milage and smoothness is well worth the odd dynamics of the E-CVT as a trade off. I would probably get the 350h, but I would definitely look in to the 500h and XSE Prime, if I were able to afford them. As far as the 2.4l turbocharged engine is concerned: it should be fine reliability wise. It's basically a destroked and turbocharged a25a that has been very reliable in the Camry and Rav4(hybrid or not). In my experience, turbocharged engines are more maintenance demanding(ie don't skimp on oil changes, thats the biggest thing), but can be very reliable in the long run if looked after. The 6 speed auto and electric motors should be fine aswell with maintenance.
@mervinprone Жыл бұрын
You nailed the problem right there. $99,000 and $1500/month in Canada. This is a lot of money for a Lexus. The tech in BMW, especially iDrive etc works very well. This power plant is really the only acceptable one in a luxury crossover, if they insist on throwing out the V6 and they should eliminate the base turbo 4.

Thanks for including the range of both hybrids and ice vehicles in your videos now... it is important so consumers can compare it to the range of EVs (mostly around 250-300 miles)... what most folks don't realize is that your recharge speed on EV figures only take in 20% to 80% charge which means you lose 40% of your range on EVs unless you are willing to risk running the battery down to 5-10% and then spend an hour or more to charge it to 100%... so, the range info for all vehicles is vital, especially for those folks comparing EVs to ice or hybrids and range-anxiety is a concern.

Agree with you guys, recently tested the 2023 Lexus RX 350 and the RX 350h premium + AWD, and the biggest pet peeve for me was also that this SUV does not have a physical button to change the driving mode! I also tested the Toyota Crown Limited, which is less expensive than the 2023 Lexus RX 350h Premium+ AWD, and this vehicle does have a physical button to change the drive mode. The other shocker was that panoramic glass roof and panoramic view camera come standard on the Toyota Crown Limited, but this these two options are not standard on the 2023 RX 350h premium+ AWD! Further, even if customers want to add the pano glass roof the the pano view camera, the dealerships in my state and neighbor state couldn’t get me this on the premium+ tier, as Lexus is only offering this on the RX 350h Luxury tier, which I was very dissatisfied with my first Lexus buying experience!

At 3:33 always interested in rear steering concept, you called it adaptive but the press release that I found says this - Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS) F SPORT Performance’s available DRS system can provide impressive maneuverability. During higher speed maneuvers, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels to give clear, stable turning response. At slower speed, the rear wheels can seamlessly turn in the opposite direction as the front wheels for seamless low speed maneuverability. The DRS system allows for a maximum of 4 degrees steering angle - in phase or counter phase to the front wheels depending on speed.

While I’m not happy to say it, I think the price point is valid as the market for the RX is generally different than the market for an X5 or GLE. It’s less of a high performance or status symbol and more of a wealthy suburban family hauler (as many people who buy the RX aren’t all that interested in cars and just want something nice and reliable). ‘Clearcut’… Hopefully.. you don’t get $11,000 of opinions (like 20” winter tyres on rims, ceramic coating, tow package or overpriced dealer options) or maintenance/service packages. Like ‘Gope’ commented there are many other (German) options at $90 grand.

Nice review guys, you spoil us😉. Now for my thoughts 🤔. I like that Lexus refined the front grille, it’s not so, in-your-face. I wish they offered polished aluminum wheels. Can’t understand why manufacturers are forcing the black wheels on just about everything, people like choices… And that’s my 10¢s

I think something to note for people who wish to BUY (not lease) is that in 5 years, the interior of the RX will start to look better than the Germans. I would OWN a LEXUS, but never a German car

Awesome video. Not sure if you mentioned it, but at least for the 2024 this Lexus won’t shut off anymore after you remote start and then open the door. Just imagine if this Lexus had the interior like the Mercedes or BMW like you mentioned before. I bet it will be too expensive. So I keep the reliable Lexus with a great interior. I did visit the German brands mentioned before once and left in a hurry, they are just pretty inside. No thanks! But if you are leasing, well who cares about reliability, choose the one you like the most.

Great review ! Does this only come with the red interior ?
@andreaspencer9813 Жыл бұрын
No, you can also get black it just depends what exterior colour you choose. For example if you choose Copper Crest, it only comes with a black interior. All other exterior colours have the option of a red or black interior.

Some brands make the key fob look like the car. Lexus makes cars that look like key fobs. ☺ Enjoyed your review as always!

2.4 liters don’t last beyond a 6 to 7 year lifetime. 3.5 naturally aspirated engines are still a good bet if someone is not interested in changing a comfortable mode of transport at least for 15 years. Just my perspective. I think Toyota is betting that the world does not see beyond 6 or 7 years anymore.

I had a 2.2 camry that lasted 17 years. This engine was released in 2021. What are you talking about. If I drive 12,000 a year you are telling me the engines only last 72-84 thousand miles.

@@AmericanFUBAR33 It’s far easier to steal newer vehicles nowadays than older vehicles. They just need to replicate the fob signal to gain access to your vehicle and remote start it.

@wyw201 Didn't even need it, they reprogram the keyfobs completely. Geico paid for the 2 cars, I went out a bought a 2019 Volvo XC 90 Inscription. This car is a tank, without the key fob, you can drive about 50 feet, the engine shuts down.

You’re spot on about the interior. As nice as it is, it doesn’t feel 90k. In fact i feel the last gen RX and NX had better quality fit and finish. They didn’t look modern but were built better.

You have absolutely no basis to say the last versions were built better. Why do people make things up?

@@tracerbullet1964 Doubt that this generation isn't built as well overall. While the interior materials may not feel of the same quality, the structure of the car will be tighter. There is a movement toward more sustainable and lighter weight materials which may lead to a perception of less quality.

@@Mr21scotta late comment I know but I have the same impression (worse quality, cost cutting) having driven 2013 IS, Vs 2022NX. Turning signal sound and feel, seatbelts (which you could not nearly feel at all in the IS) are just few of things I have noticed. Have sat in the new RX (not the 500h) and the chrome window trim between c&d pillar is far away from a 90-100k car quality where they did not even use one continuous piece of material. So it is not making things up. I had to get a service done on one of the front hood inner hooks as it started catching serious corrosion after 6 months of driving.
