I love the changes that Ford is putting into the Ranger, especially the plug-in hybrid. Still some room to go at the Lariat trim I think, like ventilated seats, A/C vents in the back for passengers, more soft-touch in the back, a 60/40 split, a full sun-roof, etc. What I really want to see is an all-time 4-wheel drive model for the Lariat. I don't need a serious off-road vehicle and AWD would be great.

From South Africa: my 2018 2.2l turbodiesel single cab with an eight foot bed, gives me 27 mpg on a combined cycle, without even trying. And I can at least load something on the bed. The 2.2l diesel is now replaced with a 2.0l turbodiesel in the Ford line up. Still with good fuel economy

Ford needs to add the Auto 4WD system to the Ranger like the Canyon and Colorado has. I believe other countries get that option - why doesn't Ford offer this on the XLT version of the Ranger in the USA ? The Auto setting allow more secure and safer traction during Rain and slightly slushy / wet conditions in the winter time

And the price tags are just out of this world. Sure, a great truck. Still, we love our BT-50/Ranger. A 2018, 4x4, 3.2, Auto, fully loaded. A powerful, easy and honest workhorse which we use when overseas. Bought brand new for $ 30k out of the door at the Mazda dealer. Not one issue since. And doing a 27 mpg in mixed, real world driving.

We'll never see the diesel engine in North America. I wish I was wrong, but diesels don't sell in the NA market.

If they do the plug-in hybrid they probably have my business -otherwise i keep waiting for someone to do that in an effective way. Ability to have 4wd with phev effects the decision. These pre-release vapor ware videos say the Maverick may get it as well but no 4wd with that one? However if Maverick did get phev and was the only one to do it, and the towing capacity went higher than current hybrid- might still consider that -but by the time we know these details we might also know more about, RamCharger, and toyota/nisson/VW/etc expected new entries...- still a guessing game. Oh and what are the Chinese doing- guess it doesnt matter as the 100% tariffs will lock them out (guess we no longer believe that innovators should be allowed to compete?).

The latest full size pickups are just too big for most people. I can see using them if you own a ranch or farm and haul big trailers, otherwise they are just too big. Mid size pickups are the size of full size pickups 20 years ago. The future is all electric. No noise, no emissions, less fuel costs and less maintenance costs.
