Do the 10 million BMW customers know that their cars are sending "anonymous" information to BMW? Why can't they create one model for the Chinese market without physical buttons and another with physical buttons for other countries? It seems a bit odd for a single country - even one of the largest - to dictate everything for the rest of the world, especially when the rest of the world is so different in its opinion. I wonder if, in five years, BMW will be following VW's lead and go back to buttons?

I particularly like their alternative to a head up display and the ability to personalise what is displayed. I am not yet convinced by what I saw about the other UI/UX decisions, but I for now give it the benefit of the doubt. I imagine the underlying engineering will be as good as ever. It looks to me as if they are getting most of this very right. Taken with the sub brand Mini which also gets its major EV refresh this year ahead this one, BMW look to me to have a credible answer to the big brands from the far east, but probably at a price.

The AUTO function, especially with preconditioning in EVs, holds a comfortable temperature and you do not need to be constantly making adjustments. Now that we're moving to EVs, cars no longer need big air intakes at the front. Clearly, rather than move straight to a design with no air intakes at all, BMW have looked at their back catalogue for inspiration and realized they could adapt the grilles from some its classic designs of fifty years ago. I haven't made my mid up about it yet, but I think it's quite a lot better than some of the designs we've seen from them in recent years. For example, could they either change the slitty white headlights: (1) For classic twin round headlights? (2) Add hints of BMW's classic racing colours of blue, violet and red? or some combination of (1) and (2)?

I'm sure it will have voice commands for basic functions.

@@gd2bking1 that is fantastic. It is already in place in current models. Thus imagine travelling with kids during the night or a bunch of friends, asking upload Hey BMW! How can I help you? Adjust the temperature to 21 so that thing actually can hear you properly. Your toddler or friends who you have just woken up will be greatful :)

That slanted touchscreen gives me anxiety. Just make it a rectangle. As for the physical buttons and knobs they would only need two different screen modules. 1 for markets that prefer some physical controls and put a strip of buttons/knobs along the bottom of the screen and then another with all touch inputs for other markets like china like shown in the video.

Thomas, has BMW said anything about what connector it's using in North America for the Neue Klasse? NACS or CCS?

BMW is obsessed with making electric cars look SciFi and I cannot for the life of me figure out why

German Automakers at this point are intentionally making their first-gen EVs less appealing, so that they can tell EU gov the demand for EV is just not enough to support its plan to phase out gasoline cars within a decade.

They can’t figure out why the i4 is so popular with BMW drivers. It’s a EV that looks identical to a 4-series gc

BMW's new vehicle design is really shocking , the 80,90 was the golden era , now it looks weird , tasteless ,no DNA , I don't know if the BMW executives are from a finance background with no passion for cars. If BMW continues in that direction then the legendary brand will be forgotten

Prefer the regular neu klasse design. The double kidney is odd given i thought the highlight of the neu klasse design was to repurpose the grill for ev design. Therefore making the kidnehs into part of the headlight/drl housing.
@senitnelav8 ай бұрын
Same, this one just looks like it has two kidney grills. I much prefer the neu klasse's design approach, much cleaner if you ask me.
