The voice-over recap was perfect. Maybe a gantry would be useful? - wouldn't have to be complicated, just something to help support the crucible tongs during the pour. Great fun, as always.

The crucible was only half filled as well. I should do voice overs more I think, does end up being a little cleaner and easier to follow.

Nice setup mate. You understand the importance of retained heat which many fail to realise how critical this is in burning waste oil. I gave up on insulation simply because I couldn't find any that wouldn't melt. Insulating the outside of the furnace is interesting. Should greatly reduce heat loss but still have the steel to take the heat instead of melting ordinary insulation. The copper must have been very hot to pour/ splash like that. Was like water! Well done as usual James!

The Legend! Oil Burner himself! Your neighbours still whingeing about noise? Also, not to make light of a disaster, but could your incredible BTU output capacity evaporate the floodwaters in East Aus?

I thought the copper was popping like the last time I poured it into cold molds, looking at the vidy I can see it wasn't, like you say just splashing out. Cheers mate, always a blessing to get your approval.

If that would turn the oil burner into a sissy ... sure turned me into a cry baby. Amazing.I wish I had space to do that. They dug up some stuff from the volcano Pompai and there was this brass or bronze skillet. It looked perfect...shines and everything.Metalology is such a cool science. Great furnace by the way. Many thumbs up.

Jim, you reminded me, I bought a kerosene torpedo heater at a local scrap yard, and found out that the ignition transformer had gone bad. I priced around and none were to be had at a reasonable price. I finally found a neon sign transformer that was of similar voltages, and I was able to retrofit in, and after that it worked quite well. I just didn't like the "lingering fragrance" from using it.

That's mighty impressive, and equally scary - the crucible of molten copper looked heavy at the end of the tongs!!! It'll be great when you've made your smelting shed type thing, you can build in a few little aids to make the job that bit easier.

@@turboconqueringmegaeagle9006 Ah yes, the unmistakable feeling when the heat makes it's way through the gloves and you can't put the thing down because that would make the situation worse - I've had that when welding stuff, but way more scary with a crucible full of molten metal.
