Hey Thomas, that’s looks a lot of fun. I’ve never seen you grin so much driving a car! Would be perfect for UK roads: small, light, agile, comfortable yet sporty, fast enough to be able to use it, plenty of grip for our rainy climate! The price is less than I was expecting for such a specialised car, albeit it’s small. I think demand from enthusiasts will be high. Kudos for Toyota for building such a car. Great review and nice camera work guys!

My new dream car! Looks like it achieves what the Pulsar GTIR was trying to back in the day. This thing would be perfect for the twisty country lanes around my neck of the woods... Your explanation on the Torsen (not "Torsion" 😉) differentials was quite a bit off. A Torsen differential can not do torque vectoring, for that you would need a laterally mounted, electronically controlled multi plate clutch and acceleration/deceleration gearing (see Mitsubishi (S-)AYC or Honda ATTS/ Honda SH-AWD). Only thing a Torsen differential can do is "limit slip" of one wheel. That means, if one wheel is slipping, a portion of the torque that goes to the slipping wheel can still be transferred to the non-slipping wheel. An open differential would send all off the torque to the slipping wheel instead. This also means, if one wheel can transmit no torque (e.g. if it is lifted or on ice), the other wheel can not transmit any torque either, even with a Torsen differential!

Fantastic car, but the exhaust needs to pop like a rally car. I have a Mini JCW with the optional Pro exhaust and it sounds absolutely Mental, the pops are crazy it's so much fun, this is what the GR Yaris needs.Really does put a smile on your face when you engage it using the Bluetooth button. Anyone who has the Pro exhaust system will tell you the same,it's a must. When it is engaged,a solonoid valve opened allowing gases to flow straight out.

Hmmm, I was sceptical at the beginning but more and more convinced while watching. Also I think there is some after-market tuning potential on motor power, weight (e.g. seats -> carnon, rims -> forged instead of cast aluminum or even carbon or magnesium, exhaust -> titanium or inconel, prop shaft ->carbon, battery -> replace standard lead batteries by LiFePO4, maybe not everyday use) and tires (in terms of grip etc.). I am seriously considering this as my "rational" = (affordable, usable) 2nd car......

IMO, performance/track pack is essential, even if you will never take it to the track or drive it on dirt roads. GR Yaris without it is not really a proper GR anything and will depreciate much more and be much more difficult to sell on later.
