Walked by one of these and i was thinking, "a yaris R? Must she slow as hell" toyota never really show what they can do. They made the LFA, and the century is pretty much only sold in japan. So now when they've blown us away with the driving experience they had to use a chassi and name of the yaris? 🧐

They should've gone even more minimalist and built it with the same inline 3 but mounted it latitudinally and made it rwd only. It would actually warrant a sport cup 2 oem fitment and the weight and drivetrain losses saved would have it trapping above 105 mph in big boy territory no tune or bolt-ons required. They could've mounted some trick twin opening intake and had enough room to squeeze in a pair of double wishbones at the front corners. The rear tires would need an extra 10mm stagger to aid traction but then again when has a closed-torsen ever needed help ?? Shorten the final drive 15% and the word to the wise would be to only go full throttle in 3rd gear and up. Or lengthen the final drive 15% and let the drivetrain yank you along like an e36 m3 only 150 kg lighter but with the same redline..

That would be if you were converting to American mpg which is roughly 3.8 litres to the gallon. If you’re converting to imperial mpg then it’s roughly 37 mpg for the rest of the world who use 4.5 litres per gallon.

The Complaints I have about my 21 GR Yaris. Is- seating position is too high. Alot like my 17 Fiesta ST was. I know there is seat lowering kits for it. But Legal? Unsure? Void Warranty? Probably. The Paint. You just have to look at it and it stonechips. Other then that. Unpracticality aside. Granted only a second car and I work FIFO. But it makes it hard to do shopping for 4 with on occasion amd do the school runs with. I've had my fun with it now. After the Mk8 Fiesta ST, I've settled on a Mk8.5 as the keeper for awhile.

Great video, only 1 mistake: The normal mode isn't 70:30 to the front, but 60:40 There's never more than 60% of the power to the front.
@CarExpertAus4 жыл бұрын
You’re right about the 60/40, but not on the rest. From Toyota: “The ingenious system uses slightly different gear ratios for the front and rear axles and allows for a theoretical range of front/rear torque balance from 100:0 (full front-wheel drive) to 0:100 (full rear-wheel drive). This flexibility gives a performance advantage over AWD on-demand systems that use twin-coupling or permanent AWD systems with a centre differential. The GR FOUR system is also considerably lighter in weight.” www.torquetoyota.com.au/2020/01/11/new-toyota-gr-yaris-rally-car-road/

One of my cars is a Megane RS IV, I've been thinking of updating it to the superseded model. The Yaris is quick but it is just too poky looking for me. The rear is an abomination and the interior is so-so. Also, no auto, no deal for me. To the people that ordered one, I hope you enjoy it and it fulfils all of your expectations. Heck, how long will it be offered at all? I wouldn't be surprised if it were only around for a couple years, although the Celica AllTrac did run for a number of generations. Toyota's ending up not using this Yaris for WRC.
