As someone who finally got and finished this game I'll say this, surskit and it's evolution IS SURPRISINGLY GOOD, intemidate, immune to earthquake, access to icy wind and a surprisingly good psychic killer (especially when silver wind gets the stat increase). Use it if you want a fun challenge and a nice surprise

I’m gonna be totally honest, I think this is the best game to use a Duskull in. It gets Helping Hand to start, which at least means it gets to do something as a Duskull, and it also gets Shadow Ball, something it’ll keep for the whole game. TMs in XD might be pretty rare, but it can definitely get some good moves. And I’m not sure if I’m just lucky or what, but my Duskull could hit like a *truck* in my last XD playthrough. Even before it evolved. Shadow Ball broke stuff, even without type effectiveness. Might’ve had something to do with the Brave nature, but it friggin’ rocked.

Any Ghost type with Helping hand is really good, as they are immune to Explosion. I used Dusclops + Claydol w/ Silk Scarf...Tore teams apart especially if you have more than one pokemon that can explode.

Idk something I loved about the sprites for solrock and lunatone were that lunatone is orbiting like the moon would around the earth while solrock rises and sets like classic depictions of the sun, not the most subtl thing but a neat touch to the game

Guys if you do go with Flareon it's special attack is not that bad. Same as Arcanine so Flamethrower will work well. On top of that Shadow Ball is a Physical move in this game so Flareons high physical attack compliments it as one of the games better Shadow Ballers since Slaking isn't available. To top it off Double Edge or Quick Attack are both good Normal type moves that you could use if you want power or priority. LASTLY the move Tail Whip is actually considerable in double battles since both Pokemon lose out on their defense allowing Flareon to follow up with a heavy hit or to support another physical attacker. I admit that Flareon could be better and nowadays with Physical Flare Blitz it definitely has a place among the other physical fire types but just because it doesn't have that here, doesn't mean Flareon is bad. Honestly I used one in XD just to see how well it fairs and I was impressed. Don't dismiss her. And yes mine was a Girl.

So far I'm running vaporeon and it has a huge problem It gets water gun at lv 16 and doesn't get a single other water tyler mover via level up until level 52, only other option is water pulse which is tm, also something I want to use for sableye. Using a Flareon on my current playthrough and I’m on Citadark Isle rn. I think the only issue with Flareon is a lack of high base power moves to go with his amazing attack stat, aside from a super effective Shadow Ball. Flamethrower rarely disappoints but I specifically went for Mild nature to increase Sp Att.

Lol what? I find Meditite to be a fantastic trade. Shadow Ball + Hi Jump Kick has perfect coverage and Medicham is probably the single hardest hitting Pokemon in the entire game. Not to mention it levels up really quickly. I don't know why Medicham is suggested as a mixed attacker. It's special attack stat is terrible and you should always just use Shadow Ball + HJK (Shadow Ball was physical in Gen III). Considering the other option of keeping Trapinch and turning it into Flygon. Honestly, Flygon is pretty shit. It hardly gets any good moves from level up; you have to use an Earthquake TM or something. It doesn't hit that hard and takes forever to train. It's resistances and immunities are nice, but Medicham is just overall better in-game.

I used a Flygon in my Mono-Ground playthrough of XD and IDK what you're talking about, my Flygon had Earthquake, Fire Blast, Giga Drain, and Dragonbreath and it proved to be one of the best in my team

Same here, I used a Flygon in Emerald, Colosseum and in Black/Black 2 and for me it's always been a really good Pokémon--it can take some bits, it can dish out a good chunk of damage, STAB Dragon Claw/Outage and EQ plus coverage Fire Blast and Iron Tail just makes it an incredible Pokémon. Honestly it just gets better and better each Gen because starting at Gen 4 Game Freak gave dragons a ton of love. Hell its so awesome that the only reason it doesn't have a Mega Evolution yet is because the artist is having Artist's Block and can't think of a design awesome enough for it. It's awesome enough to earn a Mega, it's just that the concept art hasn't been made yet and I look forward to when it does come out. That being said I acknowledge that Salamence is better lol

Huh, Chugga brushed off Meditite in the exact same way in Colosseum, giving Pure Power barely a cursory mention and spending most of its bio talking about giving the Twistedspoon it comes with to Espeon. Medicham is a total beast in Gen 3, where 80 base speed isn't that bad and it hits harder than Groudon.

Hey there, BK! I am currently playing through Pokémon XD, and I'm faced with a dilemma: I am raising a pretty diverse team, if I do say so myself, but I lack a Fighting-type. So now I'm conflicted if I should change the plan I had set for my team and replace one of my team members with Meditite (which I already have)? For reference, the rest of my team (once they're all fully evolved) will be Jolteon, Houndoom, Walrein, Baltoy, and Aggron (yeah, I admit, I took some inspiration from Chuggaa's XD team). Since I already have a Psychic type in Baltoy/Claydol, I was thinking that the less tanky Kirlia/Gardevoir, despite its great Special Attack, should be the one to go if I make that decision. As much as I like Gardevoir, I've used one in all my adventures in Hoenn, so I figured I could try out something new. What do you think?

I hope that there is a GameCube Expansion to Nintendo Switch Online and that Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness gets re-released on Nintendo Switch Online as part of a GameCube Expansion because this is going to be my team for XD: Strong Special Attacker with High Special Defense (Espeon), Great Special Attacker turned Mixed Attacker starting in Generation 4 (Houndoom), Strong Physical Attacker with Decent Physical Defense and Okay Special Attack and Special Defense (Breloom), Fast Electric Type (Kantonian Electrode), Bulky Water Type with only one weakness (Quagsire) & Jack of all Trades (Kangaskhan). Yes, I’m using these Pokémon. I have never used any of them in a Pokémon team before, and I was originally going to use a Houndoom in Pokémon Scarlet but decided against it as I chose a better Dark Type in Mabosstiff and a better Fire Type in Pyroar. And while Jolteon is good, I want to use Kantonian Electrode as I have used a Jolteon before in one of two copies of HeartGold I have where I used Chikorita as my starter.

Me too, getting this and it's prequel and all its Mario Parties would be absolutely great. Houndoom is still a special attacker, it's just that they barely made any special dark type moves after the split, heck, one of them is exclusive to Zoroark.

@@ShadowtheKZbinr523 Considering that Mario Party 1 to 3 are on the N64 expansion of Nintendo Switch Online, there is a very big chance that Mario Party 4 to 7 will be added for a future GameCube expansion, but maybe Nintendo is going to add a GameCube expansion to a Nintendo Switch Online for the Switch 2. And maybe if Nintendo and Pokémon hear the fans wanting them to add Pokémon Colosseum and XD Gale of Darkness to Nintendo Switch Online, they might do it though it is a slim chance of that happening. But that’s what the fans will do, so let’s hope that Nintendo and the Pokémon Company will grant the wishes of the Pokémon Fans to bring Colosseum and XD Gale of Darkness to a GameCube expansion of Nintendo Switch Online.

I feel Flareon gets a bad rap at being a terrible pokemon, when it really isn't. Attack on it is nice, but it doesn't mean it's SP Attack is terrible. I did a LP of this game, i used Flareon (I named it SlimKirby) and Taught It Fire Blast, in the whole game, it missed twice. And it was an awesome Pokemon.

Flareon does have a pretty good 95 sp. attack at base, it's just that its base 130 attack kinda goes to waste until the phys./sp. split

Not necessarily. it depends what psychical moves you give it, which is quite a lot. In my XD I gave it Body Slam, and Shadow Ball. In other games it can get Dig, which is very nice. Also I love Fire Blast for it. A quick bit of trivia, did you know it can learn Zap Cannon in Gen 2?

I really wouldn't say it goes to waste. It can learn Shadow Ball, Body Slam, Double Edge, Dig, Iron Tail and Return which Other than I guess Umbreon is the only one of the 5 can really take advantage of in gen 3.

I recently played XD again and used a Forretress called "The Law". Rapid Spin Spikes Earthquake Explosion Considering that I typically used it in combination with a Crobat, Earthquake actually did quite the damage. Explosion was my "ALLAHU AKBAR!!!" should things go wrong. Rapid spin got rid of spikes, and spikes got off some easy damage for opponent switch ins.

Here is some good advice. If you are that happy with Forretress nuking the field, you can pair it with Dusclops for perfect power. You won't blow your ally up and Duskull comes with Helping Hand. That is definitely a powerful borderline instant kill for any Pokemon that doesn't resist normal

I think Chugga doesn't give Butterfree quite as much credit as it deserves. Almost always hit sleep Powder in a game about catching stuff is nothing to sneeze at. It's stats are poor by late game standards, sure, but it's still one of the better sleepers out there

spindash64 While I agree with the Sleep Powder + Compoundeyes being a great combo. Like Chugga said, Butterfree comes late in the game, after a good chunk of the Shadow Pokemon have been encountered.

If I can say something. Unless it's something like castform or luvdic (before entrainment became a thing but still) it does not really matter about the pokemons stats while playing the main story. The exception of course being if you try to make umbreon a sweeper but hey he could have a crazy attack stat. Build the team how you want it and you can cause chaos to your enemies. Also if you want to use the two previously mentioned Pokemon knock yourself out. There are plenty brutal combos just waiting to be figured out. So find them out.

Ok I seriously don’t know why Chugga does this but he always says Meditite (and by extension Medicham) are mixed attackers when a simple quick look at their stats that he legit slaps on the screen, completely go against what he says, pure power boosts only physical attack, making Medicham’s physical attack stat 120, pretty good, but is stuck with a special attack stat of 60 which is not at all something to give praises to, keep in mind that the special attack stat average among fighting type pokemon is 66.24, that means Medicham’s special attack stat is below average, yet he says it’s hard to recommend Flareon because of it’s weird stat distribution when Flareon objectively does a better job at being mixed attacker then Medicham does, not to mention oh yeah Flareon’s special attack stat is above average compared to all other fire types and even when Flareon’s special attack stat is compared to just fully evolved fire types the gap is smaller then Medicham’s special attack stat gap compared to other fully evolved fighting types, so the supposed mixed attacker is worse at being a mixed attacker than the pokemon that he says is to physically offensive focused, so what he should be saying is the following “Flareon is good but has it’s problems, it’s more geared to physically attacking however sadly in this gen no fire moves are physical so it misses out on that, thankfully it’s special is at least good though not great so it can utilize it’s fire moves quite effectively though not as good as it could be” while Medicham gets “Medicham is a bit odd, it’s typing would lead you to believe it’s a mixed attacker however with a special attack stat of only 60 it can’t really do that, however thanks to it’s ability it does have a really good physical attack stat, and it is decently fast so it does have a bit of a saving grace, another plus is that it gives you a fighting type that takes neutral damage to from psychic attacks rather then being weak to them, so at least that’s something it benefits from” sorry for the rant but this has been something I’ve been meaning to get out for literal years, I love Chugga to death and he definitely is my favorite let’s player but that is something I have never got

I'm really confused. Where did you find that Medicham has a base Attack stat of 120? According to Serebii, in Gen 3 Medicham has a base stat of 60 on both Attack and Special Attack. Hell, Bulbapedia says the same as well. Assuming this is somehow incorrect, I think he meant for the time until it evolves. Walrein has been one of the best Pokemon on my team when I have done previous playthroughs of XD: Gale of Darkness another Pokemon I would also recommend is Gardevoir its extremely useful as is Breloom and for Electric types I would say Amphraos and one very underrated Pokemon is Ariados.

Vaporeon is by far the WORST starter Eevee can turn into. Without access to Surf and Waterfall, it's stuck with Water Gun, until it learns Hydro Pump, unless you go out of your way to get Water Pulse.
