I just realized that there are so many electric mice Pokémon to defend against all the flying type birds. Like what pikachu did to protect ash from the spearow in the anime.

Great video! Lol we really got a hummingbird-moth(cutiefly) pokemom before a real hummingbird pokemon! Note that Oricorio is based on the Hawaiin honeycreeper, a small bird that eats a lot of nectar, supplemented with fruit and insects. I am wondering why Altaria was placed into the generalist category? The beak is pretty wide and seems to fit an insectivore type beak? It's a cloud bird pokemon that spends a lot of time in the sky, so the idea it would specialize in catching flying insects also makes sense.

I found out the Oricorio mistake just recently when I was making my video on a southern Paldean food web. I guess I expected their beaks to be thinner if they were going to be nectarivorous. I didn't give Altaria the insectivore tag mostly because of its body shape. Most insectivores have smaller, more compact, and agile body plans. Altaria is pretty large as far as bird-like things go and would have to chase down a lot of insects in order to get enough calories. Great question!

Oh, I’m a bit disappointed that you didn’t touch on Oricorio! I think at least one form of it is nectarivorous, and it is, after all, the poster child of beak niches, being based on the Galapagos finches Still a great analysis nonetheless

In hindsight I should've focused on them more, for some reason my brain totally glazed over them 😅

Oricorio are probably fully nectarivorous since that's the way you get their different forms. By feeding them a different nectar than what they feed on in their current form.

Would Zapdos fit into the drilling category? It does, after all, learn the move Drill Peck in gen 1

Skarmory also resembles pterosaurs, a Ludodactylus (Meant to post the comment here but the video, changed to the pika clones one)
