There are probably hundreds of KZbin videos which show sailing boats but only a few of them show sailing and boat maintenance. The detailed explanations are greatly appreciated as they have relevance outside of the sailing community. Unfortunately Huub still hasn't figured out how to deal with the mosquitos, maybe he should do an internet search on how to deal with them. 🙂

Huub you are getting a lot of good work done and she's going to be a fantastic vessel again in no time! It's really nice to see how much you are putting into it every week. Keep up the good work! I hope Daniella is having a productive school year so far and getting the message that we are all really looking forward to her return after her studys come to an end. We've all come to enjoy her and that amazing smile and hope she's doing well being away for a higher education. Huub stay safe and being productive this will all payoff for the both of you in the end when you are finding yourselves roaming the globe bound for amazing destination's! As always great video and we will see you next episode.

The big end of the Zinc points to the bow, the smaller end creates less drag.(like an aircraft drop tank).

It sure looks like you are having fun leading and doing. Being hands-on will see you through other challenges later, so learning about your boat and how things function is important. I see folks with very new boats struggling with maintenance and warranty support. Keep it up.

By sharing the maintenance work in detail with your audience I think you're doing them more of a favor than you think. Sometimes those little things on motor/drive care make the biggest difference and it 'sets' it in your own mind. Nicely done. Stay safe to you and Daniela. Say hi to her for us.

With as much welding as you need done. You should invest in a small battery powered welder. I used to use them at my old job. You can't do very thick items with it but it could save you alot of hassle.

Watch Sailing with the Wynns this week. They had a paired AGM batteries over-heat. There are some things to help deal with that toxic event. More to follow next week I am sure.

At around the 9 min mark, the top cap on the saildrive had a clear vinyl tube going to it. Does that tube with a shut off, go to the bottom of a translucent plastic oil reservoir high in the engine compartment? if so, the previous owner did this. Its purpose- after filling the saildrive, fill the oil reservoir with saildrive oil. Open the shut off valve and after a few minutes, note/mark with black marker oil level in the plastic reservoir. If during sailing, a lower saildrive seal is damaged and oil starts to leak into sea, oil from the reservoir will replace the leaked oil and prevent sea water intrusion and related damage. A check of the oil level in reservoir will confirm if there has been a leak in the saildrive.
