Episode 11 and episode 12 is extremely sad roller-coaster ride. Everytime i see that scene that on jo and cheong san acting after he get bited is wonderful. Make us cry even if we watch the scene again and again. Even though i watch this scene so many times but until now it make me cry. Just watch the final episode guys. Just see the every scenes and every dialogue on last episode. It will give clear hint for season 2. It make you belive that cheong san still alive as a hambie like nam ra. Episode 11 and episode 12 will be most the fan favourite i bet that.

Guys! remember that this is a drama show, not a docu series, there is a level of dramatic licence that they use to invoke emotion, and by your reactions it worked, but if you wanna analyze it more "realistic", then judge it fully! you keep glancing over some realistic facts like that this are KIDS (I know Hollywood shows desensitize us when we are watching "kids actors" playing there are actually 30yo pretenting to be in highschool so you can't take them seriously), think of the fear, the trauma, it's not as easy thinking straight during those moments as suppose when you're on a couch screaming at a TV. So either judge it by the drama and whether it was overdone or perfectly directed, or judge it by realism and take everything into account not just moments that fit your point.

Netflix Korea released explanation of halfbies. Apparently there are two types of halfbies. 1. Immortals (like gui-nam, you maintain consciousness and get extraordinary strength and recovery, but you also become extremely violent and menacing) 2. Immune: Namra is a good example. You are immune to the virus, and while you do get fits of zombie-like behaviors, you maintain majority of your humanity.

You have to remember that the majority of this show is supposed to be seen through the eyes of these teens. They are teens. They haven’t had the same lifetime experiences that us adults have and I think that’s the point. Us as adults would make vastly different decisions than teenagers would. We are more logical in that sense. Namra is the closest thing they have to an adult for a good chunk of the show but once she starts to deal with the effects of the virus taking over her, we notice she becomes less of a voice of reason because she’s struggling with her internal battle of fight or flight (as in giving into the virus). As for the father situation, I actually think it was more impactful that they went with the outcome they did because all On-jo wanted the majority of the show is just for her father to try and save her. To know that she was loved so much that he was willing to come for her. And he did. And we know the fathers number one intent was to get to his daughter. That’s it. He needed to get to her. Both of those outcomes were satisfied. And with that conclusion they created a scenario that would be most impactful and that was by killing him off and having On-jo unfortunately bare witness. In those last moments she knew she was truly loved and her father knew she was safe. It may not seem like the smartest decision writing wise, but I think it was the best decision impact wise.

They would like to apply adult logic to Asian teenagers. Damn... I shouldn't have given them a second chance. Calling the show dumb, but missing or don't understanding all the explanations the show provides is frustrating (i.e. the dad was bitten on the tennis court, the kids needed to get to the backdoor to be able to reach the mountains through the construction side, the dad finding the kids because he has to use this exact same way only in reverse to get into the school). Who is the dumb one here? No wonder that many filmmakers feel the need to over-explain every little detail in excruciating detail in fear of the audience not being intelligent enough to get it otherwise. Also still trying to demand perfect logical and rational thinking from scared and traumatized kids in such extreme situations shows a lack of emotional intelligence and / or empathy or the unwillingness to set yourself in their situation. Chang-Son threw the iron rod because he didn't think in that moment, he acted emotional only wanting to get that away from On-Jo so she wouldn't hurt herself or try to do something stupid. It was kinda dumb... yes... but also very understandable considering the emotional state he was in. These characters aren't perfect and that is good. Why still don't they get that?

The patch is to cover the eye with zombie vision. They probably thought it would help, not to hide from their friends. The sound and light aren’t persistent after the burst, so any reaction would be short lived. The explosion sound was not even continuous 24kHz. Also, her zombie eye was covered and she only covered her left ear that’s on same side as her zombie eye during explosion. This shows she had zombie response to the loud explosion. And who would just heartlessly leave their parents to die? Except for Achara, y’all don’t make sense sometimes.

This episode is heavy af TT Cheongsan went out like a champion but man, when he was yelling that he's the happiest guy in the school, I was heartbroken. He only just got to kiss his 12 year crush. :( Onjo probably realized in this episode too that she also liked him a lot more than she thought she did. The general also made a hard ass decision too. Also the dad was bit. He's just like Jooon Young in the gym. Zombies still attack you for a limited amount of time after you get bit, so he was using that to draw them away. It was a very smart move, and a heartbreaking one. Adding to the Sewol Ferry incident that Achira mentioned, Namra and Suhyeok tying their hands together was ALSO a homage to a real boy and a girl tying themselves together in the incident because they didn't wanna get separated even in death. True stories folks. The show was very well made.

The general death hit me hard he played the character so well (except the part asking to shoot the kids that felt bit out of place for the character and didn’t make sense as they could just left but still I enjoyed it gave that side character moment of expression on helicopter as rare to see such depth without even knowing the side character at all) and I liked that they didn’t place the army as the villain (still articulated the tough decisions and reasonable responses to a zombie pandemic/crisis and quite level headed even the scene with the shooting at the dad escaping as if he was infected the potential spread tho I still felt it a bit silly that no bullets hit him till the end (just to further plot I’ll let slide)) but the violence and human emotions/human nature they did a great job of expressing the weight that the decision of taking 60k lives in order to save potentially billions knowing that potentially 10k of them were civilians if they didn’t get out in time.

Im in awe of her cuz i know most of us have kept saying that in the comments and wanted them to know about it but she really took the time to go through the comments, research and understand the pain behind it! Nam-ra felt like she wasnt fitting in with friends since she's an overachiever and her parents make her become school prez against her desire. Gwinam was wannabe bully to make himself feel superior but really wasnt.

First, thank you so much Achara for reading the comments, mentioning the Sewol ferry disaster, and how the video camera scene (and many aspects of the entire series) was reminiscent of it. It truly was a devastating tragedy for most Koreans that lingers emotionally to this day 34:30 Also, I agree that the series definitely has a lot of frustrating inconsistencies and 'dumbness' throughout the show regardless of if it can be forgiven/explained away or not. Imo, the writing and execution should be tight enough so that it's not always the viewer's responsibility to constantly TRY to be in the characters' shoes and feel what they're going through. Some of that should be given to us naturally through the execution. (ex. Squid Game) At the same time, I agree that because the character development was really strong and because I was always reminded that they're kids, I was indeed also able to forgive a lot of these holes and felt pretty sad throughout this episode

I agree with you, the inconsistencies are annoying esp when scene is about one character and the others are just standing there doing nothing, like a void! But also I can overlook a lot of it bc the writing and execution let us down, not the characters or actors.

Yeah so the ferry incident was horrific and so sad (I’m surprised you guys haven’t heard about it) 304 including majority kids pretty much all from one school (almost like the show) practically wiped out and teachers I believe and five rescue workers died on the ship as from what i remember many kids stayed the crew and possibly teachers told students to stay and as there is a very big thing about authority/rank/place in society is more culturally significant than in western cultures the students trusted in the adults who told them to stay respected them and by the time it was too late many couldn’t escape only those that defied or were probably closer to exists survived yet those crew and staff left first prioritising themselves. But I could be wrong about details it’s been awhile since I’ve looked it up definitely I recommend reading or there are videos atm on yt explaining the moments in the show that either commented or paid homage to the incident like the videos and ribbons. But certainly the dynamics around adults and the roles that they played in contrast to the students. There were other references to other issues as well like the pandemic (and it’s handling in the world), bullying etc and they also reference train to busan with the little girl and cop I believe .

You guys probably didnt see it since it was such a short section. But they showed that his hand got bit when onjo looked down. So she saw the bite mark on his hand. So he didnt really have a choice. He didnt want to risk becoming a zombie and then turning on his daighter or the rest of the group

I was an English teacher in Ansan city. The ferry students were from the high school in the city neighborhood I taught in. The school was near the elementary school I taught. I tried to calculate the ages since I left and they were grades 3 or 4 if they my students. I dont know if they were my students but possibly could have. Makes me sad when I hear about it again.

The Sewol Ferry disaster is just heartbreaking. You can type it in on KZbin and there are documentaries that are informative. Everyone should check those out. It’s gut wrenching to watch these teens basically film their deaths. And the messages they leave their parents. It’s hard not to break down watching it. It’s a complete break down in the system and bureaucracy run amok. This show speaks to the fact of people trusting their government to save them and aren’t really prepared to save themselves when the government lets them down. And this is why I’m a bit surprised when people jump on these teens for not acting like survivalist or commandos. Time and again here in the USA we have seen the government blow it and adults not meet the challenge. Look at New Orleans after Katrina. People died waiting on the government to save them. Look at Texas when the power grid went down and people just sat in their homes and froze. How about Puerto Rico after Maria? Most people aren’t trained to survive beyond a week when the supply lines go down. We don’t realize how much we tie our survival to a bunch of systems working properly on a daily basis.

I remember thinking during the scene when the general was telling them to fire the missiles and then before as well, when he was telling them to kill the kids, "Damn, he is heartless! Does not care at all." And then at the end, I was thinking, "Oh! Oh he DOES care. He cares a whole lot!" I hated that scene but it was also one of my favorites.

I think a little differently. The main characters are high school students. I think you all expect them to handle the situation like adults. You shouldn't expect the main characters to act as you would expect them to in a Hollywood movie. If you actually see a zombie, some people will run away quickly, but there will be others who are so startled that they can't do anything. I don't know why that is stupid.

How it is dumb I just dont get it ,they haven't eaten anything for 2 days straight and they are constantly indulging in very strenuous and life threatening episodes..they are children's they are not trained for a zombie apocalypse, most of them were regular teenagers ..you could notice how the archers were calm and composed because they were trained both physically and mentally. The father was bitten he didnt deliberately gave himself as a bait ,how one could expect from these starved , mentally and physically exhausted children who have lost their loved ones to notice every detail and to be vigilant all the time they aren't superhuman ..despite being a 0.99% chance of survival they were coming up with ideas and never stopped ,usually when we plan something big we test it before doing it but they didn't had the liberty so it was but natural they will going to fail or loose someone . And on choosing the door which was locked was not dumb because they planned to go the mountains and that door leads to the mountains.
