Riot has been recycling assets for YEARS now. Check Spirit blossom tree during recalls or flower vfx in coven and other skins. They just copy/paste everything. Even champion animations when they release a new ASU. They grab animations from legendary skins

Its ok for the same skin line to have the same vfx. But a different one with the same asset kinda lazy... But resource wise it make them work faster to do other things

i think lux elementalist literally destroyed future lux skin, like they won't be able to create a pool party skin lux because in elementalist she has water. The only skins that are reallly unique in their way and are deeply separated from elementalist are: both cosmics, space groove, battle academy. The other ones are really similar to elementalist like this one, which reminds of mystic form. Idk if they want to create something new for lux they should go for VFX or other typa skin that don't combine with her like project

i really hate that they decided to just reuse assets so obviously, especially the ult flower which is just too damn visible and evident, I really love the skin thematic and as a lux main was really excited for it, and while it overall still looks cute I would feel like i’m being ripped off and supporting cheap ass practices from riot if I buy it.. so no faerie court lux for me sadly :(

Imo the problem is not really the reused assets, more that they don't do anything particularly different with them compared to other skins. Reused assets are very common in game dev, and it's not only because of developpement costs (a texture or a basic 3D model is really cheap to do compared to other ellements of the skin), but mostly a matter of storage. When you have more than 1600 skins in your game, reusing some assets (especially models and texture that can have a pretty large file size) allows your game to take up less storage. It's not a defense of the skin, I personally don't find it particularly creative or compelling, just that nitpicking where some assets might have been used elsewhere in the game is not a particularly good critique (I'm pretty sure you can find a lot of other skins that do the same thing in a more clever way that makes it not noticeable).

@@eujacks7888 You are missing my point, I'm not saying that every skin should reuse previous assets, but if a previous asset fits the needs of a new release, and new assets wouldn't significantly improve it, using a modified version of a previous asset is fine. What i'm saying is the problem is not the reused assets, it's the lack of creativity in the ways they used them (the ultimate model in particular is a literal copy of a previous skin with a different color. Different animations, particles or textures would have been enough to differentiate it).

You want your game file size to be as small as possible for people to download and keep it. On the contrary, I was saying that the problem of the skin was a lack of creativity in the usage of these assets, not that the lack of creativity of the skin made it acceptable to reuse assets. And on the topic of costs, I also said that the reused assets were pretty cheap to do compared to the overall developement cost of the skin, and while costs (both in terms of time and money) can be a reason for smaller teams, it is probalby not the case here. I will probably not respond further, my goal was not to win a pointless argument but to give indsight for people not familiar with gamedev. Have a nice day

I really don't mind the flower on her ultimate, because I don't like porcelain skins (I'm tired of chinese skins AND I'm not fan of cool colors either) so, I wouldn't mind getting faerie court instead. And about elementalist Lux, lemme remind you all, that people usually complain about "a champion not fitting the skin line", so with that excuse, you give skins that has the same theme as the classic skin of the champion. Examples: Diana and blood moon (because MOON). Rell and high noon (because SHE HAS A HORSE, HOW CAN'T SHE BE IN HIGH NOON!?!?!?!!?), Nami and koi, river spirit and deep sea (because she's a fish!!), etc etc. I'd rather get skins that "don't fit" the champion, for the sake of having a wider variety of options. Not getting again and again skins that are similar to the classic skin. What is the point of having skins then? lol And about the effects. She shares the same theme and color palette of what has been stated in the first faerie court skins batch. (Pinks and blues, water, flowers and butterflies, for the summer fairies) Unless rito comes up with something else involving fairies, these new skins and future ones will likely not change. Mystic elementalist Lux is just a fairy form, that has nothing to do with faerie court skins. So complaining about that is kind of dumb. Plus it's an expensive skin that not everyone has. Only bought by Lux mains, or owned by lucky people from a hextech chest. If you like fairies, and are a Lux main, here's the more accesibble and very cute version.
