I started playing volleyball a year ago so I wanted to ask you coach, or anyone in the comments, how long it takes on average to get the jump timing correctly. What I mean by that is so that you jump at the right timing to hit the ball at your highest point. Does anyone know when? Personal experience is also appreciated.

Bump! I'm also curious
@davidnattestad76273 жыл бұрын
Guess it depends on how much you practice - practice makes perfect - how much are you concentrating on timing and watching the ball fly during training? If focus hard on the flight of the ball and is practicing alot, it will come sooner or later
@ichgrumeineoma18763 жыл бұрын
@@davidnattestad7627 I always try to jump the moment the ball is starting to fall down, so the moment i start my armswing the ball is in the right position. But sometimes is still mess up a lot you don't always get the perfect toss. But thx so much for the advice appreciate it a lot!

@@ichgrumeineoma1876 for me, i figured out the timing after like 6 months lol, it was really frustrating. it was all about the first step for me. now i’m a setter tho lol so it doesn’t matter for me anymore to much

i haven't been playing for that long but what helped me was doing reps (repetitions), and when i started i had someone throw the ball and i'd catch it when i jumped and it helped me learn to adjust to timing

Every time I spike I injure my back. Anyone know why? Form?
@ichgrumeineoma18763 жыл бұрын
It happened to me one time and its probably bc the moment you land on the ground your back is still bent backwards and if you take the impact it bends your spine too far backwards. That was how i got injured one time but the pain went away after a few days. So maybe just watch out that your back is bend forward? this is as much i could help with my one year experience. Hope it helps!!
@tjaytruong38353 жыл бұрын
Thats sorta same with me, it’s probably because you use too much fo your back, maybe try slowing your run up to make sure the ball is always in front of you

I wonder how it would feel if the non professional net heights were adjusted so that non-pro leagues would be proportionately taller to the net relative to the athletes at the top level (which is what the net height is calibrated to)? Would it be something like men now play at the woman's height, and the woman's height gets the same amount lowered? Or maybe just the difference between the average male/female heights?
