I appreciate RotJ is not the technically the best of the movies, but like you I enjoy it massively. I suspect largely due to nostalgia, it being the one movie of the original 3 I consistently got to watch over and over again in my childhood, and it being the one that brought the overall arc to it's close (I can't even consider the sequel Trilogy in that regard, I grew up on superior Legends material - Thrawn, The Jedi Praxeum, Yuuzhan Vong & the fall of Solo/Rise of Darth Caedus - who Kylo Ren was very loosely based on, but ultimately a mere shadow of).

@@mrflibble1259 (Warning My opinion, agree or disagree this is how I see the franchise) Okay so before I start I haven't watched resistance (Can you blame me), and I haven't finished Visions, At the moment resistance sits at default bottom, and visions while strange is actually really enjoyable, the animation is incredible and while I'm fine none of it is canon some of the ideas are really cool and I wouldn't mind seeing in an actual canon show or movie whether animated or not, the first episode in particular is actually insane with its cool fighting choreography and cool sketchy animation , watch if you haven't. But the other 18 I have seen so I will rank them now: 18) Clone wars movie, You know its bad I have nothing to say 17) Episode 9, cool visuals sometimes, but an absolutely dumb film in every way 16) Episode 1, cool fight scene at the end, music is great, everything else is skippable 15) Kenobi, I like some scenes and the acting for many characters is solid, but the worst aspects of this show really are not made up for my its best scenes, the chase scene in the woods with leia for example is one of the worst executed scenes in all of star wars, the final confrontation with Vader felt surprisingly cheap, they used ideas from rebels which were cool but in comparison to rebels felt absolutely abysmal, and while the choreography was fine for the most part many strikes felt unnecessary, and my biggest problem with the show, Is Reva, Never before have I wanted a character to die, But at least episode three was cool for the most part and the end of episode five was great. 14) Episode 8, I like certain scenes like the lightspeed ram and lukes confrontation with the first order, but the entire movie is a mess of ideas, and cantobite absolutely sucks 13) Solo, boring 12)Boba Fett, The Mando episodes really save this show, some parts of the other episodes are okay, But then you have moments like the bike speeder chase scene 11) Bad batch, the show isn't bad but not much has happened yet, I still feel like I'm waiting for the show to start, but many scenes are really cool like the opening and the scene where the sniper orders his men to kill the innocents, this seems like it will get better as it goes along 10) Episode 2, Dialogue not always great, overused CGI, Some issue with acting, But the fight scenes are really cool, the entirety of kamino and everything to do with the clones are really interesting, and it serves as a really cool way to highlight the growing darkness coming into Anakin 9) Rebels, Holy hell this is surprising, there is a lot of filler that is terrible we can all agree on that, the animation might be a little to cartoony, and some characters get on my nerves, but the villains are awesome, the main story is actually really cool and it serves as good connective tissue with the rest of the story and I love the main characters, And some of my favourite scenes is all of star wars come from this show, twilight of the apprentice is amazing, and the ending was surprising and I'm looking forward to the future of these characters and what happened to thrawn and Ezra 8) Episode 7, a great opening to a trilogy, the trilogy may of sucked overall but the first episode has a lot going for it 7) Episode 6, Ewoks were not incredible, but the parts with Luke and Vader were great, The opening act on Tatooine was great, and it serves as a great end to the saga, 6) The Mandalorian, I had issues with season 1, but they were fairly miniscule, the acting is great, the cameos from people like Bill Burr were fantastic, Grogu is Grogu, and the action scenes were of fair quality 5) Rogue One, Acting was great, And the ending was the best in star wars history, And is also helped us understand more about a new hope 4) Episode 4, used to be my favourite but I decided to bump it down a bit, not to down play it but to highlight the other content more, the opening is fantastic, it both serves as a good individual movie and as part of a saga, I have little to say, I don't feel like I need to say anything, it' a New Hope, what else do you want me to say 3) The Clone Wars, there are some filler episodes, but for the most part they don't pull down the overall quality of the show, the best scenes are the best scenes in all of star wars, The fight scenes in the later seasons are incredible, Darkness on Umbara is one of my favourite arcs in any show in history, and it shows more of Anakin's fall to the dark side, slowly over the course through the show we are shown some incredible scenes that improve the prequels as a whole, and the final arc of this show is the best ending to any show in history (That at least I have scene) 2) Episode 3, This is my go to favourite and probably my most actively seen movie in this franchise, however the dialogue in some scenes might leave something to be desired, but that by no means is an issue, and the best scenes in this movie are that good, the march on the jedi temple and order 66, the rise of a totalitarian dictatorship, Anakin's fall to the dark side, the battle over coruscant, the final duel between Anakin and ben while shifting between Yoda and Palpatine, This is my favourite movie in the saga for an obvious reason 1) Episode 5, I decided to go with what is probably the best option over what is my favourite, It's all good, the fight scenes are heavily improved over the first, battle of hoth was great, han and lea's final scene on bespin, I am Your father scene, I put this one the highest simply because it is both the most consistent and important star wars movie, it has almost no flaws which is something you cant say about the other movies or shows I like this franchise a lot, this basically made my childhood and I love to go through them even now, but this is probably more inconsistent in quality than the bloody MCU, I don't like what the modern team is doing to the franchise except for those In charge of Mandalorian, Bad batch and whoever came up with the idea of Visions, This is my completely pointless list on my opinion's on the star wars franchise that barely anyone will read through, if you did read through all of this you are a Chad, and you are willing to hear other peoples opinions on something which is rare, have a good day, please go easy on me in the reply's, oh god, I think i might have put episode seven up to high for @@ironsky3991 Ok so first off, wow I never expected such a detailed response but that was really fun to read through and I did indeed read the whole thing so I guess I'm a Chad. Secondly, if you've got terrible opinions then so do I because I actually agree with pretty much all of this 100%. Right down to actually liking episode 7 (shock horror) and kinda hating Kenobi. It had so much potential and seemed like an almost guaranteed win for Disney but man was it a let down. And the worst part is almost everything wrong with it could have been easily avoided if it was written by someone who, I don't know, actually liked star wars! Maybe the only thing I'd disagree on is I would put episode 3 over episode 5, purely on personal preference. But even there we seen to agree that Episode 5 is the more consistent masterpiece but episode 3 is overall more enjoyable. So yeah, really enjoyed reading your opinions mate, was definitely surprising to see how similar our experience with star wars has been. I'm so used to seeing people arguing over every tiny detail of this franchise it's nice to just sit down and talk like civilised people about this incredible mess of a franchise that we all love.

In my opinion bad batch is a story that needed to be told, maybe not from their perspective but to see the aftermath of order 66, day one of the empire, and the decommissioning of the clones was something I’ve waited so long to see and I can’t wait till season 2

it’s an interesting concept, but the stakes always seem low, and the characters are a little too similar. I’d have preferred the first season take place during the Clone Wars, with the season finale portraying Order 66… and then subsequent seasons showing the various Bad Batch members figuring out who they are as individuals, not just as part of the military or part of the team. also, my general rule for _Star Wars_ shows is that they need to plan out the whole series story arc, and tell it across three seasons, in a trilogy.

I think Luke having more depth would have been fine, the only problem was that Luke in the OT believed that even Vader could still have good in him, but the moment he had a bad dream about Ben in the ST he tried to kill him. It kinda reset his character arc.

I enjoy it because it made sense. The First Order was gaining power and JJ Abrams had Luke hiding on an island ignoring the universe. What was someone supposed to expect when Rey found him in the next movie? "Hello stranger, of course I'll help you let's get going"? That would have made no sense. What actually happened made sense to me. He was clearly on that island for a reason, and Rian gave him a believable reason to be there. After everything that's happened in the history of the films, for that stuff to happen to him directly, I don't begrudge Luke for having a lapse in judgement. Rian Johnson did an amazing job with the position JJ Abrams put him in, and I think people need to remember that by the end of the film, Luke himself realised that he needs to stop pitying himself and actually help people again, and he does. I enjoyed seeing Luke have a complex character arc.

Revenge of the Sith had pretty good stuff in it apart from some really bad dialogue in places and some infamously bad acting. But the final battle between Anakin and Obi-Wan is a visual masterpiece and genuinely awesome. But personally, Empire Strikes Back still is head and shoulders above all other star wars property, one of the best films of all time

I’m at the end of S4 right now, and holy shit does Season 4 have some of the best story arcs of the whole show. The Pong Krell arc was amazing and I love the “war” feeling that arc gives off, and I just recently finished the Undercover Kenobi arc where he portrays the bounty Hunter. That shit was phenomenal. Season 4 started a little slow but picked up crazy fast

The entire show was basically around kenobi getting Lea back and interacting with her. A good chunk of the show is also reva, her story and what she is doing to bring kenobi in for her own vengeance, and then every now and then we get sprinkles of vader and kenobi interacting.. I’d say that the reva and Lea stuff is like 70% and the 30% left was what we saw of the two…damn

The force awakens tends to be decently high on my list always and people tell me it’s stupid to have it so high but the reason is that it was the first movie I got to see in theatres. I was too young to see Revenge of the sith (born in 2005) and The excitement I had going into the theatre with my dad is something I’ll never forget and the movie will forever have that excitement attached to it.

I was also born in 05 and I feel the nostalgia, of course ROTS is the best and my favorite, but the force awakens was the first ever Star Wars movie that I could watch in theatres( of the main movies)

Makes sense. I saw the original SW on my 11th birthday in 1977. Force Awakens is a near carbon copy of that movie as (JJ is a total hack). So, it should appeal to you the same way it did me so many decades ago. One of the issues many today have with it is that it’s not a new SW movie as noted above. TLJ and RoS have so many issues it’s hard to count. I consider TLJ one of the worst movies ever made.

I’ve always said Empire Strikes Back is the peak of movie cinema in terms of quality but Revenge of the Sith is peak Star Wars. I loved every single thing you loved about ROTS and that’s why it’s also my favorite. I too remember watching it in theaters as a ten year old kid with my parents. Nothing will ever make me as sad as Anakin’s downfall on Mustafar. Epic all around and the best score for me in all of Star Wars IS Anakin vs Obi Wan.

To be honest, I quite enjoyed Boba Fett. I really enjoyed the first 2 episodes, where everything is really slow, has a fenomenale setting and looks really good. Of course, they didn’t give Boba the abilities he should have, and the biker gang… but I enjoyed it. By the way, in legends, Cad Bane also dies by the hand of Boba, in a western like style, and the damaging in Boba’s mask is bc of Cad’s shot.

I really liked it because boba is my favorite character in all of star wars. There was some amazing scenes and just the fact that he survived was amazing. What I didn’t like was that they made Boba so different. I can’t explain really what I mean by that but I think some people get me. I guess that his personality wasn’t really known before this show but I felt like he wasn’t as badass as I expected him to be. Also it was kinda weird to see him as a ”leader” after seeing him working for vader.

I mean, I believe anything can be considered flawed as it's often a matter of perspective. I don't think there's any film/show/game etc that's perfect. A huge part of why people enjoy this or that is how they were introduced and when, I'm too young to have grown up with the OT so I prefer the prequel trilogy, as it came out when I was young. So they'll always be my favourites for that matter like many others in my position, I think the OT is good but I don't have that nostalgic or emotional attachment to them which hinders how much I enjoy them.

It was grand in scale, the stakes were high, the villains one, and it truly showed what the end of the clone Wars was like. Plus, it’s only been made better due to shows like Clone Wars & Rebels.

I agree almost entirely with your list but take The Bad Batch and Rebels and put them at 9 and 10 and then move all the others up a spot. The Bad Batch showing the first few weeks of the Empire and the transition from clones to recruits is flawless and the Grand Marshall Thrawn vs Kane and Ezra is fantastic. Plus the comedic nature of Chopper and the crew is fantastic.

Love this cool idea! This is at least my first time seeing something like this, most of the time I just see people doing the films in a video and then it’s the comments that add the tv shows in haha. Ok so I haven’t seen Kenobi, Mando or Boba Fett (don’t kill me guys please lol, I hadn’t seen anything Star Wars related in 5 years till this year and have been binging the entire canon books and all, up to fallen order and doing Kenobi next) but my personal list so far would be: 17: Resistance 16: Rise of Skywalker 15: The Force Awakens 14: Visions 13: The Last Jedi 12: Solo 11: The Clone Wars film 10: The Phantom Menace 9: Bad Batch (could change depending on what happens next. Love Omega tbh and the series so far but hate how they changed canon with how Caleb Dune and his order 66 experience was altered. It’s a lot more fleshed out and cooler in the comics. Also not a fan of how quick the transition happened and wished they stuck closer to legends with the clone to empire phase) 8: Rogue One 7: Attack of the Clones 6: Rebels 5: Return of the Jedi 4: A New Hope 3: Revenge of the Sith 2: Empire Strikes Back 1: The Clone Wars (annoyed how they changed canon here too though. I think the Maul in a Ray shield thing was so much more of a cooler idea and similar to TPM in his fight with Qui Gon whilst it demonstrates a lot of his character tbh)

I appreciate your rankings, no way I could ever rank any of the sequels ahead of the prequel‘s though. I would rank the first three movies as the top three followed by the prequel’s and some mix of Mandalorian, The clone wars, and Obi-Wan then eventually the sequels if you have to. I really liked bad batch, probably because it’s something my daughter really enjoys and we can watch Star Wars together. But I really appreciate the fact you ranked revenge of the Sith as your top movie I can respect that! I think that particular movie is tremendously deep, tells an important lesson of how liberty can die. I don’t think any of us would agree completely on a ranking but I certainly appreciate your perspective.

Hard no on Mace coming back. That would ruin Revenge of the Sith and make Anakins final turn to the dark side redundant and also make him and Palpatine look like weak idiots with their combined might being unable to kill 1 Jedi and not realising he was alive. We’re already getting real close to having way too many Jedi survive Order 66 for my liking as well. Also I think Vader fails way too much in canon. ANH he fails, ESB he fails, ROTJ he fails until he switches side, he mostly succeeds in ROTS but fails at the end of that, obviously none of that is Disney but in terms of Disney he fails his very first mission to kill his first Jedi before succeeding (personally I don’t mind that because he’s literally just learning to walk in the suit and about his power) but he also fails to kill Ahsoka and then just gives up hunting her and the rebels, he fails to get the Death Star plans because he’s having too much fun killing rebels haha, and I haven’t finished fallen order but have seen he meets Cal and Cal survives so he fails there as well and I think the idea of inquisitors also diminishes the concept of Vader too. His success rate is god awful so far. Canon is still fairly new so looking forward to more Vader victories but man I really need him to start killing some protagonists (also btw haven’t seen Kenobi yet so please no spoilers for that guys haha)

The politics in the prequels was actually a good idea for explaining how Palpatine came to power. It helps the world building and expands the scope of the story to beyond the formulaic yet effective hero's journey explored in the originals

Good list. I would flip 2 & 1 but understand the nostalgia. I probably liked Return of the Jedi more as well. Exact same thoughts on Kenobi series. The final Vader and Kenobi scene is one of the best scenes in all of Star Wars, imo. I’m a bit obsessed with it, and i despise the cut out to Reva in the middle of it in the final episode. Reva’s fine, I guess. Clearly just a back door pilot. I just hope she becomes like an actual character in whatever their plans are in the future. I also really liked both Force Awakens & Rogue One.

In my opinion, the last Jedi is the worst Star Wars movie ever! It has a terrible storyline, is pretty much a complete copy of the empire strikes back, and is so so boring! Legit nothing happens in it! The last Jedi in my opinion didn’t even have a reason to have been made! The only purpose it made to the storyline was how Rey progresses to becoming a better Jedi, and also the relationship between Kyle ren and Rey, though that makes me mad as it seems both rey and Finn have so many love interests, rey liking both finn and Kylo, and finn liking rey and the other scavenger having a crush on him, as well as rose! Overall there is enough reasons why the last Jedi is the worst movie of the whole Star Wars franchise that it could be put into a full on hour and a half documentary stating why it sucks. This is just my belief, so I am not arguing, but I am sure a lot of other people will agree with me that the last Jedi is the worst Star Wars movie. The only reasons I would watch it is if my life depended on it, or if I wanted to go back and check references that have been made to the movie in other movies.

recently rewatched Rebels and gonna say its so great. To be honest I think its a better SERIES that Clone Wars. And dont get me I love Clone Wars, I grew up with it and still rewatch it once in a while. And yes there are Clone Wars has some arcs which Rebels cant keep up but if you look at it as whole series I think Rebels takes over.

I can’t wait till I rewatch it. Haven’t seen anything Star Wars related in 5 years so it’s been a while but doing an entire canon binge and have just finished bad batch. I remember at the time people thinking seasons 3 and 4 of rebels being better than the first 2 but I gotta say I definitely remember enjoying the first 2 seasons more for whatever reason so interested to see if my opinions or taste have changed. I don’t think I’ll like it as much as Clone Wars still but definitely keeping an open mind for it to climb my rankings, currently from memory I have Rebels at my number 6 spot of everything and Clone Wars at 1

Hell yea! Revenge of the sith has always been my favorite. The acting isn't the best but its the story that is so well written. Glad to see I'm not the only one lol.

I must say that Rebels is immensly underrated and is just compared too much with its first season. The last two seasons were both very solid and the final arcs of season 2 and 4 were near perfection when it comes to writing. The only things that hold this series back is the fact that its more kid friendly and the weird animation style.

on the cad bane thing, i was alright with him dying because of his age and the time period. i believe by BoBF he’s either at or beyond the average life expectancy for a duros, so age almost definitely played a part in his demise. i’m sure we haven’t seen the last of live action bane, but it will more than likely be in movies/shows taking place before this(never know with disney tho.)

I did a rewatch of the prequels for OWK (and I've always been a prequel kid, I love them!) and I was forced to admit, for all my life I defended The Phantom Menace and gave up on Attack of the Clones as bad but like, nah I've just realised I'd probably switch them in a ranking. The kid inside me was just too attached to baby Ani, awesome Amidala, the podrace and duel of the fates and whatever but yeah it drags man, it draaaaaaags. Attack of the Clones (and yes, all the prequels are flawed, that's my baseline) has like an easier plot to understand and it's entertaining throughout? YEah the dialogue betwen Anakin and Padmé bla bla, but listen after they decide to go the Tatooine the movie just builds and builds literally my only complaint is the fight between Anakin & OBi-Wan vs Dooku being too short (especially Ani dual wielding!). And yeah, I too remember losing my shit at YODA PULLING OUT A LIGHTSABER!!
