Cheesy mix, but canonically bf would’ve won. He feared ultra M. That’s why he lost, in canon the only thing that scares bf is lightning. And yes the creators did state that he would basically fall over and die if gf did. He wouldn’t have been scared even if she died, but that’s just me.
