I mostly read classics and last year in the contemporary section I read The Metamorphosis by Kafka and I have to say even after listening to a couple of analysis I still don't like the book.

I can totally relate with LOATHING books that revolve around spice and seemingly spice only. Like- GIVE ME SUBSTANCE. You know? Also, I am a long time subscriber to a woman on KZbin known as JuneLikeTheMonth. And when you were describing Crying in H Mart, it was like her life summarized but with slight differences. She immigrated from China very young, lost her mother suddenly, and is very connected with food and just feeling her way through life. Insane the similarities. Eerie, even. Then I went into my B&N app to read the synopsis and she's from Eugene Oregon! I'm an Oregonian and visiting Eugene this weekend. It's fate. I have to read this book. Sorry for the tangent. Thanks for the content. :)

I also loved “love and other words” I read last week. I could not put the book down. I do have 7 husbands of Hugo which I will be reading soon I hope.

The worst book I’ve read was Hooked by Emily McIntire. It’s a fractured fairytale about Captain Hook and Wendy. I like the idea of the storyline, but there was soooo much smut in it 😂 it was annoying to read and was solely focused on it throughout the book which made it not enjoyable. But I love your videos and I’m excited to see your channel grow in the future! ❤

I had the same experience with the 7 husbands of Evelyn Hugo! I put off reading it for so long bc I didn’t think I’d enjoy it but I read it in a day, it’s so good!

The way you felt about By a Thread, is the way I felt about 50 Shades of Gray. Only, I couldn’t finish the first book. To me 50 Shades was the absolute worst

I haven't read By a thread, but I read half of 50 shades of gray (before giving up), and I remember thinking: "Yup, I've found it. This is officially the worst book I've ever read". Then I realized it's not really a bad book, per se. Because I think it's meant to be like an erotic novel, and I'm just not the target reader. Perhaps it's the same thing with By a Thread? Maybe it's meant to be an erotic novel?

I purchased some books from target today and hesitated getting The Seven Husbands if Evelyn Hugo but I went with The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue instead.. guess I’ll be headed back to Target tomorrow 😅

😭I think I'm in the minority of not loving Crying in H Mart and I feel so bad to be critical of a memoir since it is so personal and painful. I've lost two loved ones to cancer and know everyone handles a loved one being sick/dying differently but Zauner's writing about her mother's cancer journey and her personal feelings didn't resonate with me (and at times, made me uncomfortable and even angry at Zauner).
