All Time Olympic Gold Medal Table 1896 - 2022. Winter and Summer Events Combined

This bar chart race shows the all time Olympic gold medal table by country from 1896 to 2022. It covers both the Summer Olympic Games and the Winter Olympic Games. The video is up to date with the most recent Olympics included.
It shows the various host nations from the first in 1896, which was the city of Athens in Greece all the way through to Beijing which hosted the games in 2022. London is the only city to have hosted 3 times.
The bar chart race shows the Top 20 countries throughout history. The USA leads the way but there are many changes below them.
Note that there have been some successful nations such as the Soviet Union, East Germany and Czechoslovakia. These nations no longer exist so their gold medal count is now unchanged.
You will see the host nation effect with many Olympic host nations winning more gold medals than usual at their home games.
We will produce a new updated video after the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The Olympic Games took place in the United States of America. 1960 Squaw Valley Olympics. - Victory of Russian Athletes in the overall medal standings. 1980 Lake Placid Olympics. - Victory of Russian Athletes in the overall medal standings. The 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley, USA. The Best Athletes of those games - Evgeny Grishin. won two (2) individual Gold medals. and Lidia Skoblikova also won two (2) individual Gold medals. The 1996 Summer Olympics, held in the United States, in Atlanta. The Best Athlete of those games - Alexey Nemov. won five (5) Individual medals, and one (1) team medal. and in Men's Swimming at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Alexander Popov became the Best Athlete.

The East German medal total is separate to Germany as we now know it. This is because for a period of time they were separate countries and competed separately.

I believe they got 67 golds summer and winter combined as West Germany. If it was missed due to the country splitting and reforming in different guises then it was a mistake and not deliberate. I also missed a couple of flags on the video (which was my first ever try at such a video). May do an update after the Paris games...

But colonized and looted for most parts is history. Takes time to rebuild. You cannot be an athlete when your family doesn't eat.
