As an INTP I know it can be difficult to respond to others and fear their response. I can build rapport on others just fine but that Ne/si coin uses past experience to predict how the other will react. So if you haven’t reacted to others well, I’m gonna think you are going to do the same to me. Not always inferior Fe to solely blame.

Wow! I recently finished watching the "NJ" and "NP" panel, now absorbing this "TP" panel. I find these types to have the Philosopher/Tactician nuances. So interesting to see how "Ti" works with the pairing of Se and Ne functions! If you ever do an "SF" or "EJ" panel, I'd love to discuss the different cognitive functions with these letter combinations. A wonderful series Joyce! 👏👏👏

Not buying into anything based on authority is a major Ti thing. ISTPs don't care AT ALL what the rest of the tribe believes, or some authority believes. I respect the scientific method, and I apply the "smell test" as well. I openly mock religion sometimes. It really bothers people. At the same time I can get behind stuff like the 12 Steps because I see it work. I used to walk on eggshells, but I have gotten over it. Your feelings aren't my problem. I don't need to be a dick on purpose, but seriously, boundaries! Cuts both ways. I think that walking on eggshells and trying to take care of others' feelings adds up to codependency in an ITP. But when it comes to war, I do care about right and wrong, and it's MY sense of right and wrong. I never "just follow orders." I could be a sniper but only if I were on the right side of the fight, per my own ethics. I couldn't be a gun for hire, but I could do anything to fight for a friend or a principle. I think tactically, but not without ethics.

I think while the high Ti types try to build a framework based on logical principles, they themselves may not notice that they are doing it since for them it's so natural and logical that they are doing this. Ti is basically just a filter where all information is passed through, which at the same time does not seem to contain concrete facts or anything. They are more like laws. The most obvious principle or law is that things can not conflict. Something can not be true and untrue at the same time. If this law is deemed is true, then this law is applied everywhere unrelated to the topic. Unlike the extroverted functions, the introverted ones are always looking to get to the core of things and do not like to just add more laws but rather try to get to the few main laws behind all things logical . Extroverted thinking for example tends to build subject dependant rules/laws. Each subject or location (work/family life etc) tends to have different rules that are more easily altered on the spot or replaced driven by (quick) outcome management. It is less so checked if their rules contradict eachother in their main principles/law.Their laws are more like rules since they are more practical in nature rather than Ti more so theoretical and speculative. Since Ti is not subject or location dependant, high Ti users can be phrone to even framework build or check information in environments where this is not the most pratical thing to do. So they might compulsory push information through their filter/laws when someone else is just telling about their day at work. In that situation the person might not be looking to get all their information checked based on main laws/principles. However, at the same time some people like if their story is filtered through logical rules since then it can be easier to understand what was actually going on at work Ti = (compulsotory) pushes all information through established main rules/laws. Te = practical rules, each based on subject/enviroment

I'm not sure if already thinking about the next thing that Boris describes around is necessarily an Ti thing 26:10 as the "what could possiibly....." could be an Ne thing. Ne usually thinks ahead of time, about things that could happen. Ni on the other hand more so tends to think about what they perceive to be the most likely thing to happen. Ne tends to entertain a few possibilities and tends to kind of prepare itself for the unexpected (the paradox of Ne). Ne/Si always sort of looks outwards (external) about these external things that could impact them whereas Ni/Se more so thinks about them impacting the world. Basically the direction is opposite. It may not always be this obvious, but it seems to be the trend I see.

As an ENTP, sometimes I really don't care about the "why" and "how" but only if smt is not interesting to me. Especially if it's something with a deadline like schoolwork. I used to ask people in school how they did smt and would just copy it to get it done because I couldn't care less, I just wanted it to get DONE

What the ESTP said about INTPs getting along with different people and having quick comebacks is very true. First, we don't have big egos that cause us to react to kidding or make arrogant statements (except sarcastically). Comebacks are so easy and fluid with our Ne parent it's like judo. You can easily take the weight of what your opponent says and flip the words around on them. I am constantly playing with words, writing alternate lyrics to songs, searching for irony in the political rhetoric of people I disagree with. It's like a have a whole arsenal of smart comments just waiting for the right keywords from someone to deploy them.

Not changing the trolley’s track is also making a choice. So you can’t really say you just let life unfold itself as if you were just a bystander that has no part in what happens in the world because in that moment what happens next is up to you.
@imetal16ddin1
@imetal16ddin1 2 жыл бұрын
I guess I struggle with that because what if there was someone about to stop the train and switching tracks throws them off balance and no one would have died if I hadn’t taken action. Or what if there was a rock on the track that was going to throw the train off track before it hit the five people. Maybe I rely on fate way too much to make my decisions. Kinda the story of my life.
@tigerheaddude
@tigerheaddude 2 жыл бұрын
That would also raise other questions about other aspects of life and about inaction or standing by the sidelines and letting things unfold as they are. For example, would you sell alcohol to an alcoholic knowingly? Is it morally ok even though you are directly fueling their addiction? Especially since if you didn't sell them the alcohol someone else will, so your existence or lack of won't change that person getting alcohol
@imetal16ddin1
@imetal16ddin1 2 жыл бұрын
@@tigerheaddude Interesting. I do know people who would definitely not participate in selling someone alcohol because of this. I guess the question is confusing to me because if you work somewhere that sells alcohol it’s your job to sell it without discrimination. So you would have to choose not to work for a company that has practices you disagree with.
@mirinae_
@mirinae_ 2 жыл бұрын
@@tigerheaddude I think it all comes down to your personal values. If you think it doesn't matter what you do because they're getting their alcohol somewhere anyway, you probably won't care and will sell it to them. But if you think it's wrong of you to not at least try to make a difference (like you not selling the alcohol might push the other person to seek help), then you might not sell it. But then again if you have a strong conviction like that, it's not very likely that you'd work at a place where doing your job requires you to go against it.
@mirinae_
@mirinae_ 2 жыл бұрын
@@imetal16ddin1 You can go on with endless what-ifs that keep you from taking action. With this problem many people talk about throwing the train off track but then you can go '"what if that happens and the train is full of people and they all die when the train is derailed". :) But at least to me the reality is that in each moment we only get a certain amount of information and have to use it to make the best decision we can. What "best" means then might be different to you than it is to me.

That guy... Ti is a very personal thinking. Ti is no logic, no truth, no precision. Te users, xNTJ, XSTJ also wanna know the "why" behind things, how something works and much more than Ti uses because that information will help them to check if what is saying is true or not. Ti = subjective Te = objective Maybe that ENTJ friend of ENTJ exaplain in a objective way, but ESTP was looking by a subjec way. Classic TI answer: that no right or wrong, maybe this, maybe that. And they say TI is looking for the "truth. 😂

About the trolley problem, I'd let it run over the 5 and then loop it back to get the last one. You know, help solve the over population problem like Jay mentioned
@tigerheaddude

But in all seriousness, the answer would probably be more utilitarian and would take into consideration age expectancy and current status or what they are providing the world for example. Other variations would include what if the one person on the tracks was a baby, would you sacrifice a baby for 5 grown adults etc...

In the trolley problem, a good follow-up given that you needed some advance time to pull the lever is that if you chose to direct the trolley to the one and have a 10% chance of pulling him from the track with a 90% chance of being up close when he dies, do you try and save him risking a highly traumatic experience or do you pull the lever and close your eyes?

Or put a car on the track and derail the trolley. Also a railroad switch is easy to jam with rocks, causing a derailment easily and saving everyone.

Regarding the moral dilemma, in the last part of the video, when Boris says inaction is a form of action, he isn't really making more sense than the person who'd altogether abstain from acting, because, in this case, he'd be actively and arbitrarily choosing one of two options, which is exactly what someone who'd refrain from intervening would be doing, indirectly, as well. They'd just leave it to chance instead of subjective judgment. To be honest, he's sounding as an Si dom ready to jump into action guided by this sense of dutiful business-as-usual that appears to work for most people (Si-Te). This is a sensory type of "logic" that assumes that a group of people has more value than just one individual, while it completely disregards a variety of possibilities, namely the feelings of the people who are about to die. There are different possible scenarios to take into account. For instance, during the last moments, the people who are tied down to the railroad together could have well developed a sense of fellowship, shaped by the inevitable impending common fate, that would allow them to depart from this world in a better psychological condition than the individual about to die all by himself. Charles isn't clear about how he'd personally solve this conundrum though. I know he's supposed to lead with Se, but I wonder if it's really because he sees different possibilities, to begin with. I think the IPs gave the politically correct answer, which has to do with their Fe lifelong aspiration and also this sensory false assumption that two or more lives are objectively more valuable than just one.

How does ITPs having Fe last and worrying about being judged compare to types that are Fe blind like INTJ? Because I don’t really worry about it and I feel like I’m pretty competent with Fe stuff but then might realize on the spot or later that I’m actually not. 😅 So are we just too blind to see our shortcomings there whereas the ITPs actually know it’s not one of their strengths and it makes them nervous?
@kevrokka.d.9749
@kevrokka.d.9749 2 жыл бұрын
I'm an ISTP and inferior Fe is both a strength and a weakness. Se Parent is able to read the room and allows us to apply the perfect amount of Fe to the situation. But, the weaknesses are having to 'fake' niceties too much because you are aware of the rules of harmony that exist in our world that 'need' to be followed for a smooth-running household/society. Also, sometimes the Fe is turned off completely (or we choose to ignore it) and we say and do things that aren't harmonious with the tribe. If we ever come to realize that we've committed wrongdoing we can feel pretty bad about it. I personally dislike Fe because it's taxing to know what's acceptable and then apply it when you really just wanna not give a damn. It's a constant policing of self. I hate it.
@mirinae_
@mirinae_ 2 жыл бұрын
@@kevrokka.d.9749 My bf is an ISTP and it’s very clear when the Fe is turned off. :D Also I think Se with inferior Fe is prone to lashing out more easily when conflict arises. But it’s hard to tell if he feels bad about something like that later because he’s not going to share his feelings. I always try to be respectful and take others into consideration but it might be more of an Fi value because it comes from a place of ”this is how I would want to be treated”. And of course upbringing affects that stuff too. With Fe niceties it’s kind of the same for me that I have to fake them but often I simply just forget that I even should when I see little value in it. For example at work I might write an email to a person who I know in person but we rarely interact because they live far away and just go straight to the point like ”Hi David, we’ve been having this problem…”. And then I get a reply back starting ”Oh hi, it’s good to hear from you! How are you? I hope everyone’s doing well over there” and I just think ”oh sh*t was I supposed to do that too?”. 😅 Do you think that an ISTP would be more aware about whether they should do that already when sending the first email even if it annoyed them?
@kevrokka.d.9749
@kevrokka.d.9749 2 жыл бұрын
@@mirinae_ You had the same response any general ISTP would. We are all here to do a job and we aren't friends, so take it or leave it. My bet is they're going to take it. If you play the social harmony game back YOU WILL GET EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE ASKING FOR! Hate small talk? Well, now you've opened yourself up to a potentially long-winded response about things that don't solve work-related problems! Hate being invited to places you hate? Well, now you've actually made friends and will forevermore have to interact with them in that same Fe-tone to keep those relationships going. We'd play the Fe social game through email both sparingly and decisively to smooth out the work-related processes; to make them feel good and understood, but also using decisive language to set boundaries you hope aren't crossed. My Se-Fe response to their reply would've essentially been, "I'm doing great. Now, back to the problem that needs solving NOW...". It all depends on how the relationships need to be handled in the given moment. I'm flattering to some folks in professional settings ("Yes, MA'AM, it really HAS been a long day please forgive me", said in a tone to induce sympathy as my job was on the line. She predictably enjoyed the manners) and just flat-out straightforward in others (classic ISTP, "No.").

IxTJ don't care at all about the tribe, they don't even care about people who cross their values. In my INTP opinion the ISTJs are the worst type of them all to interact with man to man. They stand for everything I don't, and they're the bulk sheep in any given group who make sure to exclude anyone not like them. The ExTPs hate them too, but they are the wolves who put on the sheep's clothing. So many STJ groups have an ExTP leader. All ISTJs know they fit in, but they also know not a single one of them is "cool". Deeply insecure and small minded people. ExTP is like the stands on his own, charming, womanising and creative type they wish people saw them as
