Do you feel they are more lenient or more strict than other consulates? Thanks!

She has the Canadian green card and she is holding China passport. She is not allowed remotely to open an bank account or remotely adding her name to the Portugal bank account of mine. Both of us have not visited Portugal yet. I will be the main applicant and the financial source for her. We both need to file D7 applications separately. We plan to get married in LA this August. In the video you mentioned that you were not allowed remotely open a Portugal bank account, and you also mentioned that a Joint account with your husband when applying for D7 visa. My questions for you : Was your name listed on your husband's Portugal bank account while applying for D7? If yes, how did you add your name onto your husband's bank account ? Could my wife apply for D7 with the Portugal bank account of mine (without her name on the account) by showing that the marriage certification and a letter from me indicating that I will be her financial sponsor ? Your reply would be greatly appreciated.

It is nearly impossible to move to Portugal at this time since visas are not being processed. There is a tremendous backlog and there have been demonstrations in major cities in Portugal to increase restrictions on foreigners moving to Portugal. The golden visa has already been discontinued in major areas. Also the NHR tax is being discontinued for new foreigners coming in as of 2024 and the taxation here is very high. Rents are very high in populated areas and will consume at least 50% of your budget. You haven’t visited Portugal yet??

Hey Julia! a fella from Russia is writing. You covered a nice case, I have "almost" the same case in future supposedly. But we are a queer couple and not married yet. Would you suggest some info about it or maybe thoughts 🥸🥸also I am thinking of writing to an lgbt organisation to ask what would be better

Hi Julia! ) A D7 visa can also be obtained by digital nomads who have a contract to work in their country. I am now collecting all the information about this. It remains to find out only about taxes for those who receive D7.

D7 is a passive income visa. D2 is a visa for freelancers with contracts 👌🏼

I thought you could also get the D7 even if you don’t have passive income, as long as you have significant savings and a remote job?

After the 120 day period, can you go to Schengen area? Or does that count towards the 90 day out of 180 day rule?
@ThisisYulia2 жыл бұрын
sorry, I’m not sure what you’re talking about. with residence permit you can be out of country for 3/12 months
@MrTdacosta2 жыл бұрын
No, you have to leave the Schengen area meaning you can’t leave Portugal and stay in Italy. You can though leave Portugal and go to one of the British Isles countries because they are not included in the Schengen area.

Heard they-sef ask for 12-month rental lease/contract. It seems after you have arrived in Portugal with D7 visa only, they asked for rental agreement proof though you had barely a month to comply with in order to get residency permit. Not sure how you got rental (for how many months?). I heard it has become increasingly hard to find those who would rent out long term and even harder for those with pets. Appreciate if you can clarify, or another vlog plz.
@ThisisYulia3 жыл бұрын
yes, we only had one month to find an apartment and we found one. we signed a lease for 2 years. the apartments are easy to find but they’re all meh (after Canada lol). also, it’s super easy to find landlords that would rent you an apartment with a small pet. hope that helps!
@rangamurali76673 жыл бұрын
@@ThisisYulia Thank you Yulia! Its encouraging to hear that. Which location you located when you leased, may I know. And was it affordable like max $1500 a month. Heard heating isn’t effective in winter months. Sure another topic, it is. Keep up with your great vlogs, v informative with tips!

@@rangamurali7667 I am Portuguese living in Lisbon Area, 1500$ is more than enouph to find an apartment in almost any zone in Portugal, for reference, we Portuguese in general if not buying house people pay from 800€ to 1100€ for like a T2 or even a T3 ( T3 means 3 rooms, it only designates the rooms the other divisions do not count). To pay more than 1100€ people here have to be almost rich no average worker can pay so much for an apartment rental... so I think you have easy ground to live very ok if you have 1500$ for month just to rent....hope it helps my info, anything just ask me, love to help....

Thanks for the video Yulia. The information you shared is super helpful. I’ll also be applying for the D7 visa. Still waiting for the NIF though. Question: how did your husband get to open an account with ActivoBank? I reached out to them asking about opening an account remotely and they said it has to be done in person in Portugal. You mentioned in the video that they didn’t want to open an account for you since you have Russian passport, but they did it for him because he has a Canadian passport. I’m in Canada and I told them I’ll be doing the process from Canada and they still said no… So, knowing how it was done on your guys’ end would be helpful. Thank you!
@ThisisYulia3 жыл бұрын
hey Federico, do you have a Canadian passport or you owe a different one? I feel like it always depends on the person you’re talking to. Maybe try reaching out to someone else? Hope that helps and good luck with your D7 process 🙌🏼🙌🏼

@@ThisisYulia Hi Yulia. Thanks for replying my comment! Appreciate it 😊 I do not have a Canadian passport but I never mentioned it and they never ask what passport I have. They just said it has to be in-person. So, I guess I'll try asking another person. Would you mind sharing how long it took you guys from sending the required documents to having the account opened with Activo? Just in case they decide that I can actually do it 😆 Thanks!

Can you talk about the taxation system in Portugal? How do they tax overseas passive income,such as pension,rental income? How expensive do applicants have to pay for medical insurance? Will be appreciated
@ThisisYulia2 жыл бұрын
if you have an NHR status, then passive income is not taxed. as for the insurance, we have almost all inclusive one and we pay 110€ for 2 people per month 🌻

one year contract for an apartment is too much, is it something required especially if I didn't decide yet where to stay ??
@ThisisYulia3 жыл бұрын
it is required by Portuguese immigration. if you have an apartment contract for less than a year, your residency might be declined. also, it’s your responsibility. if you have no place to stay, you should come in advance and search for apartments 👌🏼

Doesn't looks like too difficult for who is Canadian to get in Europe starting in Portugal... At least do you speak Portuguese? Even in Canada you have to know English or French to start your process (if you are not a refugee). So, I expected more from a "strict EU country"
