May I know the place that your friend did the marine + DM internship in the Philippines, please ? :) thank you for all the information!
The instructor I made every course with until now told me, that it would be good to do my divemaster in the baltic sea aswell because the conditions here worse than at the philipeans or at the red sea for example and that divebases would rather hire a divemaster from the baltic sea than a divemaster from the bahamas. Can you confirm that or did you made other experiences at the divebases you worked at or with the divemasters/instructors you worked with?

If i would do the divemaster, I would love to do it with you, because there is so much to learn from you, not just the needed skills, the relaxed way of diving, secoundly you take so much care about the ocean and the way how you dive with sharks, I believe even if someone would is afraid of sharks would lost his fear if they would dive with you. Sometimes it feels like you could speak sharkish: "Hey it's me Katt, could I joyn you? I would love to swim with you." I don't know but I saw it in so many videos how you act with them and they act with you. I guess now you know why I said, there's so much to learn from you. Ther is just one point: there are sharks which are more dangeous then others, so I believe there is sometimes a higher risk, so yes I blame those sharks, but just to blame the sharks wouldn't be fair. So I guess it's about 50:50. I don't know but, I know some sharks are very peaceful and some aren't. Maybe you could do a video about sharks, I believe you had enough experiance so, you know exactly which are more easy and which divers may should leave alone. I would love to know what you think about.

Have you tried the entry tec kit(BP/w, 7ft primary, specific location of DC, Tec safecty drills)? .... i have 100 times less experience than you for sure, no doubt, but... i feel much better using a DIR kit, over the 2 weird hose set-up. @OceanPancake5 жыл бұрын
Yeah! I had to do a 20 minute tread water with arms out of the water. The equipment exchange is typically part of the stress test, and depends completely based of where you do your divemaster. I had to do in the ocean in " pool" like conditions since we did not have a pool!

Hi, can i start by saying your videos are brilliant! I'm looking at starting my padi open water course, however I wish to become a commercial diver, I thought it would be alot easier to start with scuba diving than commercial diving to understand the basics, would you know at what level do you think I should get to in my scuba diving before I transition to commercial diving?
@harrisonmega79184 жыл бұрын
All in all I'd say once you have your open water and have a feel for it you can transition to commercial diving. The reason I say so is because commercial diving is drastically different to recreational, if you go to a commercial diving school you start from the bottom up (and side note most commercial divers never dived before there commercial education) but practicing extremely different techniques to those learned in open water. Most commercial divers use helmets and land lines to breathe aka. no tanks, regs and bcd. You usually dive in really shitty places in bad conditions but most of this is taught in commercial diving. Im not a commercial diver so i can't provide much insight, but this is what I've gathered after talking to a few commercial divers.
@KeiranS204 жыл бұрын
@@harrisonmega7918 thank you for your advice, for me its wanting to get more time in the water before i make an investment into commercial diving and i understand that they usually use a hat to dive and are tethered via an umbilical that supplies their air, im just wanting to get a good foundation and then head out (bit difficult with the current situation of the world but all in good time) thanks again for your advice!

Hey ....Kat with a K I'm guessing! Thanks so much for that video intro to the PADI Divemaster Internship etc, really straight to the point and informative. I do have quite a few questions as I'm keen to do the course but worried I have lost my log book and all formal records of my diving history other than the Open Water + Adv Open Water which would be on PADI's files I presume. Is there any way of backtracking dives to log them? I know where and when they were (mostly) and I'm close to 45...did about 20 on a liveaboard in Galapagos and used to work for a dive travel company here in Australia. Did my Open water when I was 15 but now a tad older ;-) Career change is beckoning. Cheers, Lucas \m/
@krismoonpie2 жыл бұрын
Hey sorry to hear about your lost logbook, hope you can get that worked out. When you do work it out you should consider getting a digital logbook too so that you don't have this problem again. I use MacDive which has an iOs app as well as a desktop app that all sync together via the cloud. When I first got the app I went through my logbooks and entered the dives one by one and took a picture of each page in the dive entry I made so there was more evidence. But now I just let my dive computer do the log and then sync it with MacDive automatically. No more writing! You might want to add some details to a dive but most of the important stuff is automatically done for you by the dive computer and MacDive supports a ton of dive computers. There are other dive log programs out there too, and whichever dive computer you end up using will probably have it's own, but I've a good experience with this one as it works with many different dive computers and syncs with my computer, iPad, iPhone etc. So I have my logbook on me wherever I go! Good luck!

60 log dive for DM but over 100 for solo diver. Funny is that need more dive to be able to dive alone that to be responsible for other people life...strange. DM course is a SCAM. What are you talking there has nothing with DM, is more with train your own staff, like other companies do. And to do that you don’t need to be a DM, is more a dive guide. Personally experience i start DM course and i quit, very boring for me and I prefer to do tech dive and solo dive.
@OceanPancake5 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for the comment and the insight. Divemasters are not responsible for other peoples lives per say, since they are mostly given the tasks to lead certified divers and be an assistant to an instructor. Instructors require 100 dives, but they also have to pass stringent two day tests. I beleive that the things I have mentioned should (and often are) incorporated into the DM, however it varies greatly depending on where you are. Where did you attempt to do the divemaster? Some people rather do tech diving and solo diving, as it is a completely different type of challenge!
@MrOvidiuk5 жыл бұрын
Vegan Diver Katt sorry, but are responsible. A bad planing or a bad decision can put life of entire group in danger. One example is what happens in Bali few years ago when they dive to Cristal bay and and 9 japenese dicers was catch by a strong current and they remain isolated on a rock for few days. Also, to make an analogy think about companies that bring people to climb Everest. As long you pay they don’t care and unfortunately a lot of them die. Same like here, a lot of DM has only 60 dives and take the licence very easy only because they can have a discount when they dive in some resorts. In my opinion a DM must have at least 200 dives and minimum 50 deco dive al done in less that 2 years without dives that are included in curses before start the training.
