Jan Leyers' first stop in France is Aulnay-sous-Bois, a suburb of Paris with a high migration rate. He talks to residents and shop owners. They claim that they are slowly but surely being driven out, through structural measures and bans.
Jan meets Houria and Sihame, two Muslim activists. For them, the modern racism against Muslims is much more subtle than it used to be. It is covered by modern phrases highlighting cultural differences, but nevertheless it produces inequality among the French society.
Latifa lost her mother during the terrorist attack on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. She received not only sympathy but also bitter blame from her fellow citizens.
Nassredine works as a kickbox trainer with vulnerable youngsters in Nice. He thinks that the intolerance against Muslims drives them towards religion, in search of a community where they can feel at home. That may lead to more radical ideas, especially among the more easily influenced youth.
Fathia does not know if she dares to go to the beach with her headscarf this summer and chart the difficult relationship of Muslims with the secular state.

Immigrants should accept and practice the culture of host country. Generally western countries are less religious whereas most of the immigrants are religious. This will naturally creat friction in society. World over religion divides people. In the past Europeans had colonised many countries and subjected them to hardships. However, it is not fair to hold the present generation responsible for the atrocities.

Islam is not a religion but a political ideology. Muslims live in any country with the dream that one day the country will become Islamic. They will replace the democracy and the constitution with Sharia their own Islamic law. This is not with other religious groups. If you want to understand them read their Kuran and Hadis carefully. I grew up in the West and lived most of my life there, but felt the time had come to move me and my family back to my country of origin, a great decision. The difference is too large for these groups to mix, especially when other groups like for ex the chinese and eastern europeans are also on the rise. For westerners mixing with some of the groups to a certain extend is not necessarily an issue as long as the differences are not too large. When it comes to other groups we will always remain at a distance which also explains why the populace at the bottom remained at the bottom and will continue to do so. I can't see us ever having a disussion, let alone that we live in the same neighborhood and a thing as friendship is totally out of the question. Based on the doc alone. I have mixed feelings. There were more important questions that were never brought up. Why are other religious minorities could assimilate but others cannot? If a non-Muslim goes to an Islamic country, they have to dress 'modestly' and follow their rules: why can't Muslims in France behave and dress similar to the French? There were other important societal topics to cover which affect millions such as education, women empowerment and can Muslims be secular etc. With all my liberal values and knowledge of history, France made a mistake importing Muslims. The only 'Muslims' they should accept are ex-Muslims and other oppressed members of the Islamic world.

I do live in another EU-country but the main principle remains the same. Living in a ghetto are those at or near the bottom of the socio-economic hierarchy. The difference is too large for this group to mix with other groups, especially when other groups like for ex the chinese and eastern europeans are on the rise. For westerners mixing with some of the groups to a certain extend is not necessarily an issue as long as the differences are not too large. When it comes to other groups we will always remain at a distance which also explains why the populace at the bottom remained at the bottom and will continue to do so. I can't see us ever having a disussion, let alone that we live in the same neighborhood and a thing as friendship is totally out of the question. Apart from us living in the same country, our lives will never connect. Their neighborhood might be 10-15 km from mine but it's a world away.

As a french white I can say I don't care about what people believe but religion has no place in the public sphere. Muslims does not want to respect that and expect us to change our laws for them. I also hate the way muslim men behave towards women. I can't speak for everyone but all this is generally agreed with. There is also simply way too many migrants (70% of us agree with that). I have nothing against welcoming individuals but don't want whole communities to settle in my land almost as colonies.

As a French i can tell you that it is very bias...Those people are living in suburb publicly funded by our heavy taxes and they are very aggressive, not only with the police but even with firefighters....you will find youtube videos of people throwing rocks on firefighters to prevent them to shut down a fire...in many suburb now the firefighters only come with a police protection ! And then they complain they don't have anymore a "proximity police". Imagine what they would do against police officers...Policemen don't want to be assaulted or killed lol and people in these neighborhood elect leftist and communism who are playing the "don't make wave" game and let the criminals making the law. Btw islamic veil isn't forbidden and african/muslim shops are not at all forbidden...There is only one rule to respect for everyone : Respect the laws of the country and especially its secular laws. You can't wear any religious sign in school or in a public service and for security reasons you can't cover all your face (Niqab and Burqa are forbidden). And don't commit crimes. That's all that is required for ALL citizens. The french republic doesn't recognize people from their religion or race. There is not such thing as a french muslim, a french catholic or a black french. We are only considered as french. If you don't accept the french philosophical view on secularism and the laws of the country...you can find a better place to live like an islamist. Our history is full of religious war and State controlled by the Church, that's the historic consensus to live all together in peace that we found. Of what i've seen in communitarianist countries people don't live together (in best case). What it is happening now in France too with the strengthen of communitarianism ideology which put the foreign culture above the respect of the law. They don't have to respect the law, it's the law fault, we have to adapt it to their culture even though it's a backward culture...and mass immigration which doesn't let time to integrate in the culture and unlike before they don't live among french but among immigrants so the integration is a bit harder...
