Islamic divorce process (if a country provides the means to facilitate it) and policies are a lot better than it is in America, where the father or husband is literally robbed and it makes marriage a terrible deal all in all. It takes into consideration a fair outcome and ideally it should be simple in accordance to how it is done in the Hadiths/Quran unless the situation makes it harder to do so. Also you should also consider the complexity of certain situations. You wouldn’t want someone to get divorced because of terrible reasons e.g. my wife sucks at cooking or my husband loves me too much (trust me I have seen such cases before) In the most part it’s nowhere near as bad as you think. Some youtube videos have divorce courts which kinda suck unfortunately.

I am a Muslim from India and through this series I learnt more about Islam through the questions Jan Leyers put forward to the Islamic scholars. So these episodes are just like moving islamic teaching courses. I am very thankful for that. One point must be clear that Islam is a way of life and every Muslim wants to follow it as maximum as possible according to Sharia principals. He or she doesn't want to impose it forcefully on any non Muslim but convince or propagate or preach humbly, peacefully and politely. In the West or any non Muslim country to follow islamic teaching is very difficult for a Muslim as compared to any Islamic country country.

I think what he meant by that was Christianity and bible have been updated over time, which is true because there has been so many versions bibles rewritten. In fact, I have seen one written by king James in Cambridge and saw another one online that’s written for black people during slavery times. When he spoke about divorce in 4:19, where a woman has to go through a muslim court if she wants to separate, that means she will have to go through all the trouble, “psychological changes” this and that, excuses he made that make no sense. That's why the man is required to give however much an amount of money (mahr) to the woman before marriage. So that no one in their right mind would 'divorce' his wife and lose all that money for nothing ; and so the woman has a means/provision if something happened to the guy. @@aishan214 anyone with a “right mind” can divorce whoever they want. Every marriage has its own pros and cons. Sometimes the temperament of either the woman or man could be bad, so we don’t know. Second, the woman in the first place doesn’t even need to go through a long process in the first place. What if the man is a cheater or married a 2nd woman. The 1st woman would feel betrayed wouldn’t she? 3rd, if Islam can’t be modernised, ok then why live in non islamic nations? Where perspectives of people are different, culture different. So how do you expect people of a secular society like London or Manchester to integrate with you if you can’t integrate with them yourselves properly? Lastly, societies are messed up right now no doubt about it. But it has nothing to do with religion. It’s just the way world has changed. Niqab is one of those interpretation things but they keep saying how they please God with it, as if He pointed out in the Qur'an or the hadith that wearing niqab is making Him happy. But He did point out the importance of volunteering to local community or hospital or soup kitchen. Feeding the homeless, volunteering perhaps in an animal shelter yet I don't see them doing that. It's almost like they're scoring easy points with secondary things that are portrayed as something very important but things that God encourages us to do, those things are ignored because we actually have to put in some effort and time. My dilemma with niqab is more of an attitude issue of the women wearing it than niqab itself.

Truthfullness is the key. Worst thing in Islam is hypocrisy where you are forced to do things which you do not beleive in. It is fun (and tragic) watching him tying himself into knots, just because he has a static dead/fossilized interpretation of Islam and it's prescriptions . If you study history, you will see that Islam during prophet's time was much dynamic and a living religion. The imam explained the matter of divorce so stupidly. If he is the leader of his council, I despair of others. The matter is much more simpler. A woman, when she wants a divorce, simply has to tell the husband about it and the elders of the family and then, she must be given it. It is her right. The court is simply to inform the law: the same way Christians have to go to court. The woman cannot be forced into reconciliation against her wishes but once full divorce is done, there is also no going back. The husband can't marry her again immediately afterwards or any such thing. The man on the other hand, when he wants to divorce has to give one verbal intention to divorce and then must wait for 90 days without sex while the wife can live in the same house if she wants to. Then after 90 days, if the divorce is still the decision, the decision becomes permanent. But here, if they want to, they can remarry (but if the man gives 2 more verbal confirmations, there is no chance to remarry). So basically, that is that. A woman wants the divorce? She can and has the right to get 3 verbal confirmations immediately without waiting or if she is persuaded, they can do the 90 period choice. But if it is a man's decision, he is asked to wait for 90 days and that is considered the favored choice of his. Yes, people subvert the laws but that is the people being idiots, not the religion being at fault. If a man just gets up one day to divorce his wife because he is a man, it is considered a severe sin.

I feel sorry for Tim for the world and community he's lost the past decades. Imagine having to live with such people in your community. Very basic, uneducated and aesthetically dull; it gives you no hope and no joy. These people live in a bubble. The worst is that they run away from such cultures for a better one but they don't understand it when trying to replicate that culture in the west. Living cheaply and very basic, aesthetically dull, hindered education, no creativity whatsoever, performances such as sports, music, arts not encouraged... When they immigrate, they show up shaved and dressed like locals and take oath to uphold said countries cultures and traditions but then when they settle and receive citizenship they start to recreate the culture they escaped from. That is cheating the system. In Albanian we have an expression "the house belongs to God and the guest", but that implies that the guest fully embraces the rules and conditions of the house. If you don't accept those values then you shouldn't even go to someone else's house. Stay in yours and follow your own values. Otherwise you will be a burden.
