I tried to create a Reddit post in the MTGA forum. I was just explaining to them that Wizards has suspended my account twice for posting comments in their feedback forum. They did not break their TOS when they started deleting my comments and re-routing posts as comments on a different post. Those comments always advocated for them to just remove the algorithm entirely. Everyone in the forum did everything they could to pick apart what I had to say and focused on everything but the fact that Wizards was censoring all the dissent in their forums. Some of those people were violent in their posts and offered death threats, among other things. Yet, I was verbally attacked, strongly, for positing the game's weight of say in your W/L. I love that the leniency of the Algorithm favors you, giving your opponents no shot in hell to win, and then shifts to taking a shit on your head. Floating most people, no matter what skill, in the 50%-60% W/L records. Many people have trackers on when they play MTGA and those data support this. Yet, Wizards heavily denies this. I don't think I've ever been ganged up on that hard in my life in any forum. It makes me wonder if they were all part of the Fanboy Defense Net. Because, like you stated well, I don't know how anybody couldn't see this while playing it. We're not dumb. We know how probability works.

Been saying this for a long time. I have unique decks that get over 60 to 70% win rate and all of the sudden everything falls off for me. Everyone just told me I was probably bad or just crazy. Nice to know I'm not crazy.

I am both paper and (new) arena player. 5 or 6 "1 in a million" bad lucks happend to me in one week in arena versus none in 20 years of magic. I have been unlucky sometimes IRL of course, but never to that point.

I find that when I make a new deck it has totally random matchups and usually hits around, like you mentioned, a 60-70% win rate. After a few days or even a week, my win rate PLUMMETS, to the point where I cannot use the deck anymore. It feels like WotC is forcing players into continuously making new decks and thus continuously paying for cards. I think the matchmaker learns how to make you lose, and if they can't pair you against a deck that you consistently lose to, they just land screw you. Fun game.

Can confirm even a year later mate. Been tracking my Geist Combo deck in Historic over the last 240ish or so games, and I've noticed this same trend occurs, like clockwork roughly every 30-45 games. How do I reset it? No joke, I delete the deck and remake it from scratch again. Don't clone it, don't write the deck list down and reimport it, make it again from. Scratch. I have all 60 cards memorized lol deck does amazing, I easily average an 80% win rate with it and then all of a sudden, it goes against black decks almost exclusively (worst match up, tends to have mu h higher rates of S Edict and similar sacrifice removal). Win rate falls rapidly until I remake the deck. Rinse. Repeat. It's maddening.

It's like they want "competitive matches" - so they make sure whoever you are matched against has "answers" to what you have and vice versa. If you play control, you will almost never go against a control deck. If you build an anti-rush deck, you will not face rush. If you build draw-discard, you'll go against sheold. What the hell is wrong with these devs. They're trying to force 50% win rate.

In my case i usually encounter cheaters who has a perfect draw everytime. Everything I cast is countered every draw they make is timed like if they run out of cards in hand next draw is a draw spell card.

Everyone's opening hand ALWAYS has at least 1 land that enters tapped. If you are only running 1 tapped land you WILL draw it 99.999% of the time. Or late game , getting ready to close it out, suddenly you draw every remaining land in your deck. So rigged.

I've never gotten as mad playing paper as I do on Arena because of the rigging. I've noticed if I get matched right off I'll usually lose that game because their deck will have all the answers. I have noticed more wins when playing at a certain time frames, too.

When I'm playing an opponent with 100 to 280 card deck and they're dropping 2 pairs or 3 of a kind, or curved out on a turn 4/5 combo all the while you got no cards to interact with the board or your land flooded/drought, it's obvious the game is rigged where 95% of these encounters all end up in loses ... of course there's the shills and deniers of reality what is obviously happening, and their excuses is your deck sucks or luck of the draw was bad ... eh no when there's an observable pattern, something isn't right.

if you build your own decks and play with them alot you will see this. once they figure out what cards lock your deck out. you will find yourself against those decks even thou you know. there's no way that many people are playing that non-meta off the wall type of deck.

When people don’t believe me, I tell them to build a deck with 20+ Pacifism type auras(Coup up, Ossification, etc.) and go play 20-30 games with it. Then tell me if you’ve ever in your life played against that percentage of creature-less opponents, or decks running over a dozen pieces of enchantment removal.

The game needs full transparency . The matchmaker and the shuffler are manipulated. Needs to stop planning these hyper-powerful metas; every season 50% of the decks are the same. Not a real "meta". Needs to balance 1st turn.

On arena I consistently get unplayable hands, back to back, or unwinnable matchups where my opponent can keep 6 lands and still win by top decking every card they need in that moment. I started keeping track of it with a few of my friends across some newer accounts we made to see if you're win rate affects the matchups and proper hand layouts; consistently we would get better hands, better matchups, better draws across the new accounts.

I notice a marked increase in mana screws or floods in drafts where winning the game would get me enough gems to get a new draft. I've gotten insanely screwed or flooded and it always seems to be just in the game where I'd get enough gems to play again for free.

Happens to me as well but i notice i lose to people that have perfectly built decks and they play really fast. When kamigawa came out i used the enchantment deck with kami of transience and the naturalists. I won a lot but lost in events usually after 3 wins (lost to another enchantment deck). I notice whenever i play white I get 1 and 2 land hands followed by no land draws 3 out of 5 times not sure why.

I'm only 1 minute in but I've had these suspicions as well. It's entirely possible to rig the game and unless you parse the information in multiple ways it'll always look legit on the surface. That said, with this many years into MTGA I'm sure the information has been parsed many times over in a multitude of ways. If I'd have to wager they' have a BUNCH of systems in place to tip the scales a bit to encourage players to spend money in the game but nothing too egregious.

I use mono green Elves quite a lot. They made it all the way to the top of diamond and almost into mythic for like 3 seasons. Now I use it and I can't get a single good hand in ranked. I played 6 games and lost all of them, had to mulligan every single game.

I play historic brawl a lot. My main deck is Captain Sisay and I only get paired again 5 color decks when I play it. Johda or first sliver. Every. Damn. Day. Until I lose 4 games that is.

I main Fynn in historic brawl and the amount of infinite edict/removal decks I'm thrown against is actually preposterous. It gets me thinking 99% of historic brawl players only mainline sheoldred/go-shintai/prismatic bridge, but that doesn't make any goddamn sense. And like Des I am forced to constantly go second, and every time I go first I never have a one or two drop. It only changes after scooping 4 or 5 in a row. Like I cannot stress enough, 9 out of 10 games I get Swords to Ploughshares or Wash Away'd. It changed my playstyle and expectations, because it literally happens THAT often. But I'm supposed to believe I'm just unlucky? That every single opponent I get just has a lucky hand of all removal? Either the game is rigged or the playerbase is degenerate. I'd prefer not to hate all my fellow magic players.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned these things before, as much of these things are stated in the FAQs of the game itself. Both in-game and on the official website. The game even explains to new players that the initial draw is modified based on lands, and that opponents are occasionally selected. If one opens up the code for the game, one would find many instances of the code rigging things for or against the players.

I find it suspicious when I loose games everytime I encounter players with decks that have large decks. A opponent will have a deck with over 150 cards and get perfect pulls. Statically the cards played against me does not make sense. I'm a generally a free player and what you say is what my average is. I wonder how may decks are potential bots.

Also with drafting. IRL drafting you play against decks from that draft pool. Arena your drafted deck plays decks drafted from other draft pools. Part of drafting is the strategy of knowing the cards circling the table.

The Arena shuffle algorithm is rigged based on money spend on one's account and win rate. The Shuffler WILL make you miss land drops by a minimum of 2-3 turns. These are repeatable and put into place to try and generate more revenue.

I've found or noticed that if you played a deck of non-land cards (the double sided land cards) it negates that certain mtga scripted trigger, but then you'll be playing 2 turns behind as your non-lands are coming in tapped, that is also ontop of the game assisting your opponent with poker hands/draws (combination of 2 pairs, 3 pairs, 3 of kind, full house by the opponent 4th or 5th draw, that is not if they already destroy you with a turn 2 - 3 combo).

Yes, if you win so many times, you can even get 20 cards and draw just 1 land. Your opponent could just pass, pass and pass by 20 turns and you would still not get the second land. The opponent is also probably a machine, cause sometimes when that happens, it is playing with a deck that gives him more lands and destroying your lands, like red/green or red/greed/blue decks. The game clearly cheats if you simply start winning without giving money to it.

I have a well rounded deck I've been playing a version of since arena started that should be winning far more than it does through random chance or deck matchup. It got to ranked mythic at one time. And with 20 lands and 8 1 drop mana dorks. I can tell something is shady. I start games with only 1 or 2 lands, never more. But I will draw forever and never get a third land some times, usually after a short win streak. Other times I'll get 1 land and no mana dorks, and all high cmc cards. I'll mulligan and I'll get also zero land and then mulligan again and just get 2 lands and again huge cmc cards.

When I hit the bottom of a rank I'll lose as much as I can on purpose before I move into bo3 kill spell field wipe tribal. Also can confirm the lands. Built a low curve deck with 16 lands. With a couple draw spells and cantrips I played a land and had at least one in hand for the last 10 games. I get the elo shit but purposely causing you too lose because you win too much is straight greedy.

there's obvious scripted (multiple) triggers that fires up when you get your opening hand and to the starting of the game and maybe during the game. This was most evident during the Crimson Expansion (80% to 90% i've encountered) where the opposing players will be dropping full houses, 2 pairs, 3 pairs (was also common) by turn 4 or 5, until they fixed it/changed a variable. *Playing MTGA is no different than playing Slot and Claw Machine where it's already programmed* (most often than not) to handicap you or sometimes enable you. It looks like the switch for the Crimson Expansion maybe turn back on as I'm encountering 70 to 80% of the said mention drops. That is ontop of flooding your hand with high mana value cards, locking you to 2 to 3 lands, flooding you with one type of card/land. I've found that by playing a deck of non-land cards, confuses these scripted triggers, and the deck would draw (almost) like a real world deck, the thing with this is that you're two turns behind behind on land draws because your non-lands cards are coming in tapped. So you're playing against an opponent and who's assisted by the game, while being handicapped by the game and against the game, and from time to time the scripted triggers don't either trigger or they'll throw you an obvious win usually by shutting down the other player. So yes the game is rigged.

I just now got done uninstalling this game. It was a close matchup my opponent was at 4 I was at 2 the game blatantly ignored the double strike rule. I killed his creatures they did not have first strike. It was two grave diggers pumped by lord of the accursed. I had a monastery Swift spear and a steam kin. I go to combat and cast twinferno giving steam Kin double strike. Arcane bombardment was on the battlefield . He blocks with two grave diggers both 3/3. I cast twinferno , arcane bombardment triggers then Swift spear then steam kin. Steam kin is at 4/4 and Swift spear 3/4. Second twinferno goes on Swift spear for double strike and the stack resolves. Grave diggers die and then nothing no normal combat phase. Did I misplay by casting twinferno in the middle of combat ? Should I have done it in my main phase or pre combat main phase? I thought steam kin would have hit one more time idk maybe I'm misunderstanding when to cast twinferno

I mainline Fynn the Fangbearer in historic brawl and 9 out of 10 of my opponents not only have 1 mana rare removal, but also go first. EVERY game is going second and getting Swords to Plow or Wash Awayed and predicting my whole strategy on "okay so after they perma remove my commander at all times, can my hand still win the game?" It puts me in the mindset that all other Arena players deserve to suffer in Hell. But it can't be right. Matchmaking has to be rigged, there is no other explanation.

I quit after tracking the coinflip for around 1000 Bo1 matches and finding I went first around 20% of the time. Win rate on the play was above 75%. Punished for building good decks and playing well. Also noticed I played mainly bad matchups after the first few wins. Super frustrating. I uninstalled, sold my paper collection, and proxied a vintage cube. Best decision.

I had a feeling it heavily favored those that had purchased product and to get freeloaders (like myself because f@#k giving them money for digital cards that I've already bought packs IRL) I also kept going up against mono black or rakdos (zero brain degenerates) and they got 2 "Dreams of steel and oil" in opening hand and they basically free thoughtseized with zero downside and it basically handed them the win turn 1. Thank you for doing this video and confirming my already held suspicion that the game was rigged from the start and it seemed more unfair than real life and I'm not sorry I can't back a product with worse odds than real life.

I've done some testing over the past week (no stats or anything just my own observations). But the game is UNPLAYABLE free-to-play. I build decks with 0-4 rares, no mythics, and run into the full meta decks constantly.

I played with a deck for awhile, barely got into platinum. Made some purchases to make new deck, but played my old deck prior to making it. Guess what? Made Mythic. I've never spent money again, the game is also fixed for spenders. They are lucky the don't do this for the paid game I would have reported them to our foreign countries where professional game fixing carries some very serious penalties. I would not feel bad if WoTC CEO has to spend some time in jail in South Korea.

So many cards in paper are upshifted to rare/mythic on Arena so you have to use more wildcards to craft them. Arena is such a cash grab

I was doing really well, like a 5 win streak. Then after my opening hand. I drew only lands. 10 times in a row. Then the next match I got no mana had to mulligan got two. Then proceeded to draw no mana 13 turns. Basically impossible statistically. I lost against the worst decks possible. Starting decks were probably better. In Diamond. Shits rigged. That's the time I realized it. The game doesn't even feel like playing mtg IRL.

They aren't legit. I've run into pods where the available cards remaining in a specific pack are different from the original cards in the selection.

Just got cheated again in sealed,went against people with bot names and they had an answer every turn,then when I play a card that mills 2 it takes 2 of my removal I needed while they just mill lands or decide not to kill suspiciously. They had multiple copies of the same card that was removal. Won't play sealed again on this dog shit AI program game.

The game is rigged (to get your winrate as close to 50% as possible) just like how hearthstone was rigged, which was confirmed by the devs. To make the game 'fair' if you're a good player you will go second 80-90% of the time. You will also queue into decks that counter your own. It honestly wouldn't surprise me you get other matchmaking 'benefits' based on how much and how decent you have spent money on the game (other games do this, world of tanks, confirmed again by devs), but I thankfully haven't spent a penny on this game so I cannot say.

Not to mention that certain times I've had just enough to win a match and the ability of my critter is off by +1+1 ...example an ability that gives +X+X where X is = to the greatest power among creatures you control. Creature is a 4/4 and the greatest power of your creatures. It got +3+3 instead of +4+4....

Any time I spend gold on a draft I do reasonably well and win 7 sometimes. Anytime I spend gems on a draft I go 0 and 3. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It’s usually due to massive flooding out. Oh man and absolutely the put you against decks that perfectly counter yours. When I add something new, I start seeing decks with the exact answer for that and never did before.

just seen this and i will be honest it is rigged 100%. When i first started playing i threw about $50 buying packs old sets and new just to have a nice varied collection so i could make the kind of decks i enjoy playing. in two years of playing i hit Mythic in best of 1 pretty much every season with no trouble at all and all my decks had around 70 to 80% win rate. Now due to me being sick ive not been able to work so have stopped sepending money on MTGA. 2 months into not buying packs or mastery pass (I have build up loads of wildcards so in the 2 months i have got all the new cards without spending money) I cannot break out of T4 Plat and my decks are 40% win rate. Even in ramp decks i am stuggling to get more than 4 lands and if i play fast decks like mono red or soldiers i will not get past 2 land.

Halo devs talking about matchmaking were probably the most honest about "handling their best players". Essentially they found that when top players played together, they would end up chasing away players (IE: getting too many people to log out for the night). So they ended up slowing down matchmaking for such teams intentionally. (Halo Matchmaking GDC "Matchmaking for Engagement: Lessons from Halo 5" IE: at the allow stacked party chapter they quote a stacked team of 4 people scaring away 20 people (an hour) for the night, which is too detrimental for "engagement").

I have two copies of agani the planswalker in a deck and have never pulled it and I have one copy of the one ring and I get it in my hand every other game.

I can prove this to myself and have. Just play a few matches with the same deck and observe the match ups. Then make a sub par non meta deck and you’ll go against the same jank deck/color combos or the exact counter. I made a brothers war set only Izzet deck. I had not seen a single izzet anything after about 30 games. I made my stupid deck and guess what: yeah it was izzet after 30 games of not a single izzet. You can do this over and over and see that the matches are not randomly generated within the rank pools. They are made based on win rate and deck composition. It’s totally rigged. The past 4 drafts I’ve done I’ll go 0-2 then win 5-6, but NEVER take the full 7 wins in a premier draft. On that 7th match all of a sudden the game pretends like you’ve been playing brackets.

I'm not super educated or even particularly smart, occasionally clever but certainly not a computer whiz but I have since I started playing have felt it was a bit rigged it sucks loosing games you felt in paper magic you would have won or worse still winning games your certain you won because the system screwed your opponent.

There's no way I get the only 4, 7 mana drop cards 3 times in a row each time I mulligan. I go first maybe 1 our of 10 times. If I'm lucky.
