Nice list and we've made many of the same changes with similar benefits. 100% agree that gut microbiota are a huge factor in allergies and overall personal health, which is still being ignored by most mainstream health providers and policy makers. One note on the meat/dairy point, this has a lot to do with HOW the meat or dairy animals are managed. There's a huge difference between grain-fed and 100% pasture-based beef or milk, for example. Speaking of dairy, we've found from personal experience that raw or minimally processed milk from pastured animals (goats in our case) actually seemed to confer some allergen protection on us, especially since we were raising the animals ourselves. For example, goats love poison ivy, and once we started consuming the resulting milk, I rarely reacted to PI even though I interacted with it on a nearly daily basis. The same seemed to be true for ragweed, which goats also love. We grazed our goats on dense ragweed, and my allergy reactions went way down when the resulting milk was in our diet. It's clear that going vegan helps many people, but I tend to think that, at least in part, it's the effect of removing toxic grain-based meat/dairy from the diet, not the inherent effect of meat or dairy, which when produced and consumed right have a lot of benefits as well. This is also a reason to go local when possible, as even 100% pastured products from 1000 miles away may not help someone deal with local allergens (also a possible reason why allergies grew in lockstep with the ever-growing distance between food producers and consumers). Long comment aside, great video!

That's interesting about the poison ivy! You can go so many levels deep with nutrition that it's both fascinating and terrifying. There's a great local butcher in our area, but they're all the way out in Mendon (about a twenty minute drive), which is tough for regular shopping. Would be an interesting experiment to try some of the milk/yogurt you guys are using. I tried goat cheese and yogurt from Wegman's for a while, but who knows how they're being raised or fed. Have you guys experienced the same benefits with local honey? I've read opinions both ways with some people in favor and others saying local honey makes no difference.

If you think about all the grain they give us and the animals… they spray them with glyphosate. Manmade chemicals have no business being in our bodies. We are what we eat and we are ingesting the animals and therefore the chemicals. These chemicals trigger off a chemical reaction days, months or even years later. All those commercials about being exposed to toxins decades ago can come back I. The form of cancer. This is why there is no cure for cancer in this case these pesticides, herbicides and preservatives are everywhere and not by mistake IMHO.

He's right. After 55 years of life, I finally successfully cured my non-stop allergies and asthma. For me, it was an allergic reaction to wheat and milk. Both of those are eaten in almost every food in the US. It's everywhere. When the body reacts against wheat and milk, it causes inflamation. And inflamation creates the perfect storm in the body - when natural allergens like mold or pollen come rolling in, the body is already tilting in that direction, making it very very easy to completely tip over into a full blown allergic reaction and/or asthma. If you have mega allergies/asthma, do yourself a kindness - try taking out wheat and milk from your diet. Completely remove it. And you may find yourself completely amazed, but more importantly, relieved. Good luck my friends. Note: before I removed wheat and milk, I did use stinging nettle tea successfully, but it only treated the symptom, not the cause. Just a day later, I would be slammed with the major flu-like symptoms of allergies, or gasping with asthma. At the very least, take out wheat and milk. Treat the cause.

Hey that's amazing, congrats on getting to the root cause of your allergies! It's frustrating that anyone could go such a long time without being informed about the possibility of food allergies, but it feels so good once you finally figure things out! p.s. I also love nettle tea. (:

All very sensible. I came from a different angle. Ate only meat which cured me of literally all my problems; allergies, diabetes, depression, anxiety. I have since been able to reintroduce some fruit, some very correctly prepared organic white sourdough, raw milk, honey, very well cooked potatoes without skin. To name a few. Zero foods that have more than one ingredient that I didn’t make myself.

Fruits, vegetables, nuts give me too much bloating. Meat and wheat settles my stomach but allergies stays 😢
@AndrewFolts
@AndrewFolts 6 ай бұрын
@@raindrops1047 With fruits and veggies, make sure to mostly eat alkaline, as acidic foods, like oranges, peppers, and such can certainly cause stomach upset. Pear, kiwi, papaya, squash, green beans, and baby lettuce would be good stomach soothing picks. For nuts, seeds, and pseudo grains (like quinoa) it's ESSENTIAL to soak them for 4-8 hours in filtered water and then dehydrate, bake, or cook them because in raw/un-sprouted form they all have "anti-nutrients," which can also cause bloating and stomach pain. Meat is fine, but it's also critical to get off gluten for the sake of allergies and digestive longterm health, as it's very sticky and clogs up your digestive tract-literally like eating "glue."

Great video. I did something similar, but starting with Keto. It’s all about inflammation, whether you go vegan anti-inflammatory or keto anti-inflammatory. Eliminate. Add back foods and figure out what triggers inflammation. My Keto focused on eating only anti-inflammatory foods - and unprocessed meat is not inflammatory. But the most anti-inflammatory food of all is fatty fish. So i focused on eating sardines and salmon everyday, with surprising side effect that I never got before from going low carb, or Atkins or Keto, effects i can only attribute to the fish - great skin and mental clarity. There’s a mental clarity you always get from keto b/c of the lack of sugar. But despite having had lots of flax seed oil capsules for years, i never got the same impact as with eating fish. Then I learned that the omega 3 in seeds is not the same as the omega 3 in fish. the former can be converted into the later, but only a small percentage, and not as efficiently. And guess what the brain is made of? About 30% of the dry weight of the brain is made of fat (the omega 3 kind). At first, i tolerated sardines, then i shopped around and found high quality sardines from Spain and Portugal. And I added in other high quality canned fish, like cod and cod liver (it gets a bad wrap, it’s like a mild tuna). cod liver has more omega 3 than anything on the planet. Eat 1/4th a can of cod liver per day for four days (since by then the cod liver will start to go bad in the fridge), and you’ll do your brain and skin and mood a favor. That’s another thing - very chill moods. all this so that i could cure my nasal congestion. Nasal congestion went away in about a week or two of this diet and i got the skin benefits in three weeks (that’s when i notice the blackheads on my nose were gone. I can feel them on my nose but then stopped feeling them). The only allergies i had left i could attribute to dust and dry air. Got a humidifier, and removed the dust. The dust was likely from an old favorite pillow of mine. Just got a new down pillow (hard to wash a down pillow so i just got a new one). Now i breathe through my nose just for the fun of it. And yes, i added fermented vegetables. I make my own kimchi, sauerkraut, real fermented pickles, etc. got a ketomojo blood glucose and blood ketone monitor. I know exactly how ketones impact my brain. If you have ADHD, give that a shot. Ketones in the brain are way way better than just glucose. For epilepsy, alzehimer’s and great new research by Dr. Palmer at Harvard showing the dramatic impacts on bipolar and schizophrenia. The power of your vegan diet is mostly from what you are NOT eating. And you can do keto and vegan, but it’s harder. And I’d consider adding in the fatty fish. Anyway, that’s my two cents.

I basically cured my allergies with water fasting, juice feasting and colonics. I switched from a vegetarian way of eating to eating meat so I would say it's more about the quality of the food and also the quality of digestion. Both as a vego and omnivore, I never gave up dairy. I've had it flare back up this year due to a toxic mould exposure from a water damaged rental I was in. Before that, I was literally doing yard maintenance/mowing lawns for a living all throughout an Australian summer and I was fine.. being bombarded with pollen and grass clippings in 30°C+ weather.

Yea, it depends on the person, but in general I'd say that drinking milk specifically designed for a baby cow is generally not a good idea. If you look it up you'll find that there's not a single species on Earth that drinks another species milk as part of its natural diet. High quality meat is definitely a better option and doesn't produce allergies.

@@AndrewFolts Yeah, I've heard that a lot. But that's because non-human animals do not have hands and fingers to milk cows or goats or sheep, but my dog loves kefir and butter and he handles it just fine. He is healthier because of it. Whilst casein is a common dairy allergen, why is lactase produced in the small intestine? There's a reason that enzyme is there. Most dairy you find in the store has been pastuerised and homogenised too, making it harder to digest. The fact is that humans have been drinking milk from various species for many thousands of years.

I would suggest as a first step removing all dairy and gluten from her diet, as these two cause allergies/asthma in the majority of people. Coconut products, yogurt, etc, are one good alternative. Deep/slow breathing in through the nose (never the mouth) is also key, as the nose filters toxins, while the mouth doesn't. Hope she's able to feel better and maybe even avoid surgery, which has its own complications.

I'd recommend eating wild caught salmon and organic grass-fed bison or elk. These are usually low-allergy for most people. You can get grass-fed beef at most grocery stores and higher quality bison/elk from Northstar Bison: northstarbison.com. That said, your problem with legumes may be that you're not "sprouting" them. Essentially, nuts/seeds/legumes have "anti-nutrient" defense compounds that can prevent digestion and cause allergies, so you need to soak them for 8 hours in filtered water and thoroughly rinse them off before dehydrating or cooking them. This makes them significantly less allergy-inducing. Soy is extremely hybridized, so I'd avoid that completely.

I was so allergic to pets, grass and dust that my allergist thought at first it may be too dangerous for me to do immunotherapy. We tried anyway and it was a rough start, but after 4 years I was released allergy free. The funny thing is, there was no real improvement until changing my diet to basically Paleo. Last September I was in the hospital for anaphylactic shock because my neighbor smelled like a dog, this summer I was able to start fostering and adopt a dog. I changed my diet to tame full blown autoimmunity but it also made my igE drop down to almost nothing. 🎉 I also take a bunch of mushrooms. I think those are a HUGE piece of the puzzle as well. Many help regulate immune function. Once I started taking them my autoimmune relapses stopped and my mobility improved. Adding calcium lactate healed my sun allergy. Diet is 100% the answer to achieving good health.

Gluten is one of the most inflammatory foods on earth, so I wouldn't recommend eating it in any form, but if you can't give it up right now, then, yes, sourdough is a great option to reduce gluten somewhat. You can also use "Einkorn" flour, amzn.to/4aa63Jw which is the only un-hybridized strain left. Don't use the crap they sell in stores, it's been cultivated to contain unnaturally high levels of gluten. Make sure to use whole wheat (not all purpose) for your sourdough starter.

Hey there, that's a great plan, just do one thing at a time. As long as you're eating organic, free-range, grass-fed meat, it shouldn't be a problem. You can swap coffee for cacao chocolate (not milk or cocoa), which has 10x less caffeine, but still tastes great. You can also swap dairy for coconut yogurt and cashew cheese (if tolerated). For pasta, go with lentil, bean, or chickpea noodles.

Its very difficult to research things because there are so many conflicting experiences. I hear so many have good experience from vegan diets but then i hear people with good experiences with meat diet and its cured then from different things. I have allergies and its becoming worse but i cant without meat because i actually feel weak after being without meat for a while. I have tried not eating meat but i felt so weak. I have tried everything to get my energy up but after eating meat once after going without it for so long, i felt revitalized and full of energy. So its actually a difficult scenario.
@AndrewFolts

Meat and vegan are both fine for allergies. Dairy, gluten, and processed or non-organic foods are the main culprits that you need to remove from your diet. For meat, it's also important to check what the animals are being fed. I'm currently eating a mix of vegan, wild salmon, and elk/bison, which I order in bulk from Northstar Bison, northstarbison.com because their animals are treated respectfully and graze on their natural diet, rather than being fed grains (like most grocery store meat). If you eat a cow that's been fed grain, you can still get allergies from the grain, along with other health problems. Make sure the meat says "100% grass-fed AND finished," because a lot of companies lie and feed the animals grain at some point.

@AndrewFolts
@AndrewFolts 2 ай бұрын
Hay fever does in fact connect with the food we eat. What happens is that problematic foods drive the body into a state of heightened immunity to the point where it will overreact to harmless stimuli, like pollen, and cause extreme allergy symptoms (sneezing, mucus, etc). With the proper diet, you may sneeze occasionally to clear your airways, which is totally natural, but you won't have any chronic or excessive symptoms.

Dairy and gluten are the two that everyone should take out, at least at first. Those are always #1/2 in autoimmune protocols and most people are either intolerant or allergic. Very interesting story. I have just started using cold pressed organic rapeseed oil on my skin as an alternative to olive mixed with lavender, aloe vera, and making fresh saint johns wort tea to help with my depression. One of the coperates are causing me severe itching. I'm going to start using black seed oil as an alternative ro the rapeseed as that is known to help with allergies, but as for the saint Johns wort my question is if it was the pollen in the flower causing the reaction, would it make a difference just using the leaves? I really need this plant and like you I never had allergies as a child but since my immune system got very week everything now seems to be an issue for me and if it wasn't for my extreme dicipline I would no doubt be dead, but despite everything being organic real food i'm still fighting a battle because it's that bad.
@AndrewFolts
@AndrewFolts 5 ай бұрын
Yes...there's a reason they call it "RAPEseed" oil, ha. It can be quite irritating to the skin and digestive tract. Black seed would def be better. Coconut oil or shea butter are also good options. Your allergies are most likely coming form something you're eating. The most effective strategy is to eliminate the top allergens to see if that helps... 1. dairy 2. gluten + grains 3. eggs 4. nightshades (peppers, eggplant, etc) 5. acidic (citrus, garlic, grapefruit, etc) For vegan foods make sure you're soaking ALL your nuts, seeds, legumes, and pseudo grains (quinoa, etc) for 4-8 hours, because plant foods contain harmful "anti-nutrients" that can be mitigated by sprouting and then dehydrating or cooking/baking. More on this in my raw vegan video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l33an5ZplrV8mJo. For meats, I'd avoid chicken/pork (they're fed soy and grains) and stick with organic grass-fed free range beef/bison/elk and wild caught seafood, like salmon and scallops. I get my meet from Northstar Bison, which is excellent. bit.ly/3KuYS4g Also make sure you're filtering your drinking water, as chlorine can also cause allergies. bit.ly/48dm9lC

@@AndrewFolts Very good advice my friend, and thank you. Most I already know. I think I will go back to using olive oil despite it not being native. Dairy have been free from for about year gluten and grains I don't have the strengh to give up, but I only have sourdough, sprouted and i just discovered soaking flour. So I am only now having rye which contains the least gluten and will be soaked. The rest of grains like millet I always soak anyway or cook very well. Nuts havn't been doing that as much but I don't consume that many often. Eggs don't have the strengh to give up but I buy them from a local organic farm. nightshades I take all of Dr gundrys advice in preperation, (removing skin and seeds to reduce the lectins) and the only one I consume really is tomatoe because I can't give up my favriout food which is curry and you can't have a curry without a tomatoe 😊 Wasn't aware of acidics causing issues but generally I only consume native foods anyway unless there reduced in store. Meat and fish is always wild definately won't eat anything farmed unless like my eggs I know the people. Remember through this itching has only come about recently so it can only really be a number of things iv'e added in recently like the rapeseed despite it being organic and cold pressed why I brought it either way it's going off the menu again! Will check out some of the videos anyway maybe I will learn some more wisdom in all this diet restriction unfair madness!

@AndrewFolts
@AndrewFolts Ай бұрын
Hey there, sorry to hear about your son, allergies are no fun. Often it's a problem with the immune system as a whole. Making sure to eating only organic whole foods with no dairy, gluten, or processed is always a good starting place. For nuts, make sure to soak them for 4-8 hours (times vary, so look them up), and then dehydrate or bake. This neutralizes most of the plant defense mechanisms, which can cause serious issues if eaten raw. Reintegrate nuts very slowly, if at all. Same for fish. Probiotics and digestive enzymes, as well as reishi, or other adaptogenic mushrooms/herbs, can help calm the immune system, so it learns to tolerate fish.

By all raw, do you mean all raw vegan? One thing to check is that you're properly soaking all nuts, seeds, grains, and legumes. Plant foods have "anti-nutrients" to prevent digestion, which can be significantly reduced by soaking/sprouting. I cover this in my raw vegan video, if you don't already know. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l33an5ZplrV8mJo Also, avoiding highly acidic foods (oranges, peppers, etc) and nightshades (eggplant, etc) can help. Other considerations are sticking with organic only and local, if possible.

@AndrewFolts Ай бұрын
Hey Czarne, really sorry to hear that! Is it all raw fruits and veggies, or only some? Do you have issues with other foods? Usually they're harmless for most people, so I would suspect there's some kind of gut bacteria overgrowth or immune issue at play. Can you tolerate tiny portions? Like a teaspoon of fruit juice? It's possible you could slowly acclimate yourself to them by starting very small.

Where did you find information on the correct diet and choosing foods etc?
@AndrewFolts
@AndrewFolts 4 ай бұрын
There's no "correct diet," because everyone is different. You can read a thousand books and they'll all conflict each other, no matter how meticulously the research. The only thing I 100% trust is my own personal experience. I'm just constantly running little "studies" on my self by adding and removing foods to see what works. Dairy, gluten, and processed foods consistently give me allergies.

When I take caffeine (dark chocolate, coffee) I feel better?!?!
@AndrewFolts
@AndrewFolts Ай бұрын
Yea, caffeine is like stepping on the gas pedal of a car. It doesn't actually "generate" more energy, it just forces your body to "release" the energy it currently has. Obviously, this feels great and can work for a time, but it's not sustainable, because you're expending more energy than your body is able to replenish. Once your stores of energy are depleted, caffeine will no longer work (like pressing the pedal down with an empty tank of gas). So longterm it's better to focus on getting as many nutrient-rich foods into your body as possible on a daily basis. Depending on what works for you, this might be leafy greens, avocado, alkaline fruits, sprouted nuts, seeds, and sprouted pseudo-grains (like quinoa) or sprouted legumes (like lentils), lemon/lime juice, and high-quality, grass-fed bison/elk bit.ly/3KuYS4g, wild caught salmon bit.ly/3BEnV3n, and perhaps quail eggs bit.ly/4fNsV5B.

@AndrewFolts Ай бұрын
What I did is replaced coffee with fermented cacao chocolate and hot chocolate using coconut yogurt to make it creamy. When you ferment cacao it has only 3 mg or so of caffeine, whereas coffee has 90+ mg. It's super easy and cheap to make with bulk ingredients. Here's my recipe. bit.ly/3LXqyje As for calcium, you can get plenty from leafy greens, chia, sesame, almonds, etc, and take natural calcium supplement if needed. That said, you want to do an HTMA (hair tissue mineral analysis) a few times a year, which measures your nutrient levels and ratios, otherwise you could be getting far too much or too little of various elements.

There are certainly other foods that can cause allergies. Nightshades, acidic, and high histamine foods would be worth A/B testing with an elimination diet too. Meat that is not free-range, organic, and grass-fed can cause issues, as well as food that's stale.

@AndrewFolts
@AndrewFolts 4 ай бұрын
Hey Sarah, I totally get that dietary changes can be stressful, but, unfortunately, inflammatory foods are the root cause of allergies for most people and it's impossible to improve your symptoms if you keep eating things that irritate your immune system, ya know? That said, an easy way to start is just by swapping out one food, rather than switching your entire diet. If you're eating dairy yogurt, for example, you could simply try a coconut yogurt (or any alternative that works for you), which tastes just as good with no inflammation. Once you're comfortable with your first swap, then pick another food and do the same thing. That way, it's not overwhelming.

Hi thanks for sharing, what are free ranges meat? What do you substitute with milk if you are low on vitamins D?
@AndrewFolts
@AndrewFolts 2 ай бұрын
Hey Sunny, free-range means the animals are allowed to graze and live like they would in nature, rather than being locked up in a feed lot and shipped off to a processing facility, which is how most commercial meat is raised. This stresses the animals out and creates disease, which in tern causes health problems for anyone who eats the meat. You also want to make sure your meat is organic and grass-fed (for cows, bison, etc), because grain-fed cattle meat is not healthy. I buy ground meat in bulk (to save money) from Northstar Bison, who treat their animals kindly. bit.ly/3KuYS4g. For fish, make sure to buy "wild caught" not "farm raised." Most people don't realize this, but milk does NOT contain significant amounts of Vitamin D naturally. Companies "fortify" the milk with synthetic supplements to make it seem like dairy products are more nutritious than they actually are. Cereal companies do the same thing. The best source of VItamin D is sunlight. In the winter you can also take a naturally derived (not synthetic) supplement, like Vitamin Code D3. amzn.to/4dWY4lk For milk alternatives, you don't want to buy store brand nut milks, because they're not "activated" (meaning soaked for 8 hours and rinsed), so you're consuming lots of toxic plant proteins. Coconut milk would be the best option. Harmless Harvest makes a coconut smoothie drink that's really delicious.

Hi @AndrewFolts thanks for details respond, really appreciated your help, but unfortunately I live in Australia, very hard to find free range meat. Regarding to coconut milk, are you referring to the coconut milk that Asian people put in curry? About the cow milk sorry I actually referring to calcium, what do you think of soy beans milk etc..? Thanks
@AndrewFolts
@AndrewFolts 2 ай бұрын
@@sunnylm2045 Gotcha. For free-range meat, it may not be available in stores, but you can easily find it online. They can ship it freeze dried to you. Just search "free-range organic meat Australia." Here's one that came up: ausorganicmeatco.com.au/collections/certified-organic-beef. Yes, coconut milk is often used in curry. It's thick, but you can dilute it with filtered water and blend to create a dairy-like consistency. For calcium, there are lots of other sources than milk. Sardines, collard greens, almonds, and chia seeds are just a few options.
