I don't get why people are making a big deal about alternative inputs. If anything, it should be a good thing that we're making the interface between human and game more seamless. Everyone has access to this and they're no more expensive than any other high end fight stick.

Nice video! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Hitbox Crossup control scheme. I would definitely be interested in seeing more custom stick videos in the future where you showcase your process and work flow (kinda like in the beginning of this vid but more detailed). You seem to have a lot of experience in that area and I'm sure it can help a lot of people as well.

So you attach the joystick straight to the board with the 20pin harness and then strip and mount the wires on the screw bits for the hitbox buttons? Very interesting, might give this a try

The u,d,l,r are wired to the terminal connectors, but my Sanwa lever is wired via the J9 section with a 20 pin harness.

Depends on your ability to do the sequence really fast. There's a surprisingly large distance your hands have to go to plink inputs with your crossup movement buttons. Especially for frame perfect stuff it can take some practice.

Phew, can't imagine this being tourney legal
@mistweaverjc78984 жыл бұрын
it is tourny legal, it's basically the same as a PS4 D-pad except there are some things you can do on the PS4 D-pad that you can't actually do on the crossup. NihongoGamer did a vid on it that was pretty informative and wasn't quite as biased as this guy. kzbin.info/www/bejne/haeumYOIicScd9E (he shows how the crossup is legal because it's basically just a modified ps4 stick, I'm summarizing)
@CrestofPotential3 жыл бұрын
The official cross up is legal because it uses an analog stick. I believe that means that this current build wouldn't be legal because it's using a traditional lever

About the hitBox CrossUp, I would remove the four extra buttons, cut the four extra buttons' wires with a wire cutter and replace the four extra holes where the buttons were at with button stoppers.

@@loque69Sounds like that, which doesn't make any sense, since the CrossUp is the much needed upgrade that the outdated fightstick model needs to remain competitive against Hitboxes.

Your video is informative, and the project is cool (I have a cross-up inspired stick in the making too), but you literally trying to destroy your buttons at each input is very annoying. So either put the mic farther away, or stop stomping on your buttons :)

i think you are exaggerating a bit here; you didn't do ewgf every time and seemed to struggle with it tbh. I don't mind the opinion but when the gameplay directly contradicts what you are trying to put out it doesn't really make me want to trust your opinion on it. Reliable execution is what makes these games good to play and watch! having more reliable tools doesn't make it "wrong" or "bad" and this elitist stigma is actually silly. Imagine all the innovation ever (not just in games) there were always groups of ppl who were afraid of it and wanted things to just stay the same, not because it was better but because they were good / comfortable and they didn't want to feel threatened.

This controller destroys some features Wich define Tekken....
@mistweaverjc78984 жыл бұрын
@@TheMrManiax actually it does the same thing as a Ps4 controller and actually has limitations that the PS4 controller doesn't have. If anything I'd make the argument that it is just a regular controller with a different layout that gives the user the false confidence that their gear helps them perform when in actuality (this controller in particular) actually makes moves less easy to execute because you are taking what could be done with 1 hand and trying to translate it to 2 hands, which means if you don't have equal amounts of dexterity / coordination then this will hinder you gameplay not help. I'll say hands down as a mixbox user, that the Mixbox and Hitbox are more Precise then this Crossup, the Crossup is honestly just a gimic to get ppls moneys. Or to get die hard stick users to convert to the digital side while luring them over with the safety of a traditional analog joystick. It's snake oil basically. Ppl are so silly that they don't actually look at what it does compared to what it is trying to replace. Even this demo video shows that the guy who "claims" to get a Electric all the time constantly drops it whereas with a Hit/Mixbox I can assure you I will be getting a electric every time because of how precise the buttons are. Watch the video and see for yourself, it's not making things easier for anyone, you are taking something done with 1 hand and trying to teach your other hand how to perform the action as well, not efficient at all! nor is it more precise since it still is limited by the analog stick
@TheMrManiax4 жыл бұрын
@@mistweaverjc7898 it does not the same thing as a pad you can press b and forward conveniently at the same time and get easy access to things you would normally have to master like kbd and such. some strong things in the game are balanced around the concept of being strong but difficult to execute. If you make something strong and easy to execute you get a Leroy situation. And I don't know there are videos of people first time playing Tekken with this thing and getting electrics where I want to see you picking up the controller for the first time if you were even able to do the wavedash Motion properly. Tmm plays the game for over 20 years and Mains kazuya and watches someone play Tekken for the first time and do more electrics in a row than him on a normal stick
@mistweaverjc78984 жыл бұрын
@@TheMrManiax this is how i know you didn't look at what the ps4 pad can do. you should go look up how the sticks on the ps4 pad actually work rather than coming to brash conclusions from YT'ers who are trying to make content get views. Hitbox/Mixbox gives a new player a edge, this doesn't. At the highest level neither matter.
@TheMrManiax4 жыл бұрын
@@mistweaverjc7898 I only play on Pad so I'm pretty sure I looked at it enough to know that using the Stick and arrows of the pad isn't really practical. Execution matters on every level a dropped combo or misplaced button press can turn the tide.
