He needs to be a bachelor-- he's far too selfish to consider anyone else's needs, and so immature about getting help on the build-- sulking because Piers had a floor put in in one day while he's been fiddling with sticks. Eco is fine, but life is SHORT-- what if she got cancer before he even pulls his finger out and puts a real roof on that shack? It's all about HIM-- his process, his methods, his materials, his way or the highway. She should tell him get it done or I walk- NOW.

There are a number of succesful really low cost buildings like this in Lammas and all over Wales that are built in that way. Charlies roundhouse is a very nice one.

i knew from the begining of the episode that she was not going to be warm and dry by winter :( :( All the cries of I'm not precious were throughly unconvincing and indeed I think he sabotaged the entire thing, if it wasn't his idea or suggestion he wasn't interested A SMILING NARCISSIST (IMO) These types of homes have been built for centuries all he had to do was open the internet or visit a library. WE ARE IN THE 21ST CENTURY indoor plumbing is just basic hygine NOT A LUXURY. Personally I kept asking why didn't they just fix up the first trial house at least there seemed to be a fire in there???? THIS WAS THE WORST EPISODE 10000000% I'm sorry for the very kind presenters please keep going guys you've helped many.

lovely people it is a way of life for them. The husband seems to enjoy the process more than the end result. The wife should be supported by her husband more he is damn lucky she is willing to use the outdoor toilet while they work on building the house. The indoor toilet in the built house is a necessity not a subject for debate. I feel this was a good episode to have made in that it is honest. It is great to see a finished project but so many home shows gloss over how the building process works, more can be learned from a show like this than a home improvement show where they never show the trials of the build and just focus on bespoke details.

I found that Jane and Andy Wells's home is part of the Lammas eco community, but no pictures of the current state or final completion of their house. It seems there are a number of similar builds as part of this community, and they teach straw bale and cob building techniques, so odds are high that they were able to complete the build. One of their neighbors was featured on Grand Designs, but the house sadly caught on fire due to a faulty electric heater. I'd like to see an update on this build.

Nice to know that there are hippies Wales or some other place in the UK. This is exactly the way they operate only they form colonies so that the families can help each other build and run self sustaining farms. They just need a few more like minded people to live next to them and each other. Hopefully not too many substance abusers so that they get enough accomplished each day. Normal location of such colonies the last few years has been the Missouri or Arkansas Ozark mountains with a few in the southern Appalachian mountains. It looks just like the terrain where they are building. So citizens of the UK, you don't need to move to the USA to become a hippy. Their life style is workable for those who want it and in free societies their is no reason to forbid it. Good luck and hope to see your debt free or almost no mortgage home when it is finished. Just remember it takes a community to build a home.

I get frustrated when people call straw hay. Hay is fodder for animals. Straw is the stems from grain that has been harvested and often is used for bedding livestock. If the husband had to sit on a cold toilet seat all winter, he might think differently. Then again, egomaniacs enjoy being contrary. After all, they are always right.

Actually they talk about how the small building they already have is built from hay and the woman says (@7:25) that straw is actually recommended instead; so they do acknowledge the difference.

Once again, it appears that the budget for the series did not provide for much narration. It is a challenge, though, to wonder what the producers are suggesting we should understand. Pity, it used to be a much better series. Come on, guys, tell us what the hell's going on.

@@mollymorgan8652 Well, you're only eight months late with your comment, but I'll revise mine anyway. The only indication of when it was posted is for July 9, 2020 on the Facebook feed. So here it is: This seems to be a rather underfinanced series. Not enough narration, and, therefore, lacking in clarity. What a lousy series. Happy now?
@mollymorgan8652
@mollymorgan8652 3 жыл бұрын
@@johnasumaa8644 Well, unlike you, I just watched it for the first time. I didn't tag you in my comment because rather than you coming back to reply nine months after watching the show I expected my comment to be read more by others who came along later. The later seasons' episodes as posted have more narration, and those were earlier on the watch list, so I figured that back when you watched the video nine months ago, you saw them first like me, which would have made your previous comment "it used to be a much better series" much more logical. I figured you just didn't realize this was the earlier season. It seems like maybe you're unaware that this was a TV show from 2013, not something that started as a KZbin video on July 9, 2020. Some people have been commenting that the sound was probably edited by the people who posted it to KZbin for copyright reasons. I don't know, as I've only seen it on KZbin. Apparently, you can watch it on Amazon, so I suppose one could compare and find out.

@@mollymorgan8652 Quite nice of you to respond. I didn't mean to be rude. I watch the episodes on KZbin, but the only dates attached are those from when the episodes are added to it. But the episodes in question do not seem to be as good as others I've watched. Hence, my criticism.

This is not the first video this month that DIY Daily has uploaded that is missing the voice-over. This show is extremely boring to watch because all the narration is missing.

It seems like that was part of the format of the show the first season. Later seasons they have voice overs and have the balance of music balance quite good. Another show DIY Daily uploaded Restoration Home is a good show but the music often drowns out the narration. I actually prefer the music as a filler with no narration over narration that is hard to understand do to background music being to prominent.

Ah, all the women here jumping to the conclusion that it's all his fault and talking crap about him while calling her the victim, when nobody knows anything about this couple. What we see is what the TV producers want us to see to get ratings, not the real story. Maybe she's one of these wives that has him doing everything else but working on the house? Maybe she's one of these wives that demoralize their husbands and he gave up putting in the effort anymore? Lots of wives are like that you know.
