@jsharp9735 You should read Ignatius, Justin Martyr and Iraneous. You'll find that the "invented doctrines" from when "Rome appropriated Christianity" are actually incredibly early and predate any consolidation of the scriptures. Ignatius, for example, literally says: *Especially [will I do this] if the Lord make known to me that ye come togetherman by man in common through grace, individually, in one faith, and in Jesus Christ, who was of the seed of David according to the flesh, being both the Son of man and the Son of God, so that ye obey the bishop and the presbytery with an undivided mind, breaking one and the same bread, which is the medicine of immortality, and the antidote to prevent us from dying, but [which causes] that we should live for ever in Jesus Christ.* Or *It is becoming, therefore, that ye also should be obedient to your bishop, and contradict him in nothing; for it is a fearful thing to contradict any such person. For no one does [by such conduct] deceive him that is visible, but does [in reality] seek to mock Him that is invisible, who, however, cannot be mocked by any one.* Seriously, Ignatius tells the Christians to be unified with and obedient to the Bishop over and over and over again. The authority of the episcopacy is indisputable in the early (and oppressed) church

Born as a Muslim, found Christ. Became Protestant Christian, till I noticed various disagreements within the Protestant Church. I knew something was wrong. But I knew one thing, that Christ must have left us a true Church, because the Bible often warns against false teachings. I just knew deep down that God will not leave us like lost sheep. After 2.5 years, I am convinced that the Catholic Church is the Church that Jesus left us. Last December I joined the Catholic Church and will remain in it until my last breath. Great conversation! I’m a Catholic convert from Mormonism. I still enjoy these conversations between historical Christians that I listened to nonstop during my conversion. My deep dive into historical Christianity led me to accept the Trinitarian God and reject the Mormon teaching that there was a Great Apostasy, necessitating a Restoration. But I saw that Protestants also teach there was a Great Apostasy, necessitating a Reformation. That’s why they think new, pure churches had to be started in the 16th Century. I concluded that Jesus really gave the Church teaching authority and meant it when he said it wouldn’t fail.

The disciples confused it with bread/food/provision, but Jesus was teaching them about something much more. Leaven in scripture is representative of something else. Trent didn’t really say a good biblical reason why pray through Mary 🤷♀️📿 am not sure if all Catholics are not listening right 😂
@alissarehmert25028 ай бұрын
Yeah, I wish they had more time to go into the details of why Mary is venerated and why people ask her, and other saints, to pray for them. He did, however, go briefly into why it doesn't have to be in the Bible for it to be a licit practice. It does not contradict scripture and our view of Mary and her role comes from deductions from scripture. I would recommend reading Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary by Brant Pitre if you're interested in a super in depth study of why Catholics believe in asking Mary for prayers. Regardless of your view of Mary, it is an interesting book to show you the practice doesn't come out of thin air. I'd also recommend watching the videos on Trent's channel where he goes into it. 😊 @@cindybeltran992
@alissarehmert25028 ай бұрын
@@cindybeltran992 Yes, I wish that they had time to go into the details more. There are many reasons why Catholics venerate Mary. While it is true there is not an explicit command in the Bible to ask Mary (or any Saint, for that matter) to pray for us, there are ways that Catholics deduce the special role of Mary from scripture. Just as Trent briefly pointed out in this video, we are also not explicitly told we ought to pray to the Holy Spirit, but many Protestants and Catholics do (and rightly so because of deduction). The Catholic view of Mary is rooted in Sacred Tradition, Jewish views on the Queen Mother, and interpretation of different passages of scripture (usually you'll hear Catholics discuss John 2:1-11, John 19:25-27, and Revelation 12). As I stated above, these scriptures don't explicitly tell us to pray to Mary, but Catholics use them to deduce certain things about Mary & the Saints. I would encourage you to read Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary by Brant Pitre if you're interested in how the Church has historically viewed Mary and why. If you don't want to do that, Trent's channel is always helpful as is Joe Heschmeyer's (Shameless Popery). It did not come out of nowhere! Everything Catholics believe about Mary reveals something about Jesus and His divine nature. We don't venerate Mary because she's a deity or has any power of her own, but because of what she tells us about Christ, His holiness, His Majesty, and His love! It might also be helpful to know that there have been Catholics who were even excommunicated for taking their veneration of Mary too far (see Collyridianism)...so there is definitely a line for us Catholics. Mary is an infinitesimal creature when compared to the one Holy and Sovereign God of the Universe!

I have been a Music Director in many different protestant churches: United Methodist, Universalist Unitarian, Presbyterian, Epicopal. At each church I met wonderful people who love Jesus and I would do my best to understand how each faith was unique so I could do my part contributing to worship through music. When I started singing at a Catholic Church as a Cantor, my heart transformed in the most amazing way, and I am convicted that the Catholic Church is the true church and the most full expression of faith for followers of Jesus Christ. I know Jesus more deeply through the Rosary, Mother Mary, The Saints, Angels, and the understanding of the Eucharist as Jesus's Body. I realized that protestant churches are missing these important aspects that draw us close to Jesus and therefore most of them embrace new age spirituality as they are still hungry for our Lord. Since joining the Catholic Church, I have come to understand the Eucharist as the most important part of our faith and have renounced all forms of new age spirituality.

If Revelation 17 n 18 are what many believe it teaches, then everything happening with many converting to RC n EO is what we have been expecting to happen, but it’s not a good thing according to Rev 17 n 18.

Good! keep saying the rosary ! The rosary have no Salvation, it is religious spirits, when I experienced the holy spirit my eyes were open and I said, Lord all these years Mary! The rosary! why not you? Did I expect an answer? But I heard very clearly, he said , I see you practising patience and diligence, I burst out laughing , yes you are right lord! we are practicing patience , waiting patiently for answered that never came and diligently doing it over and over again. Memorising a rosary cannot get any one into heaven, it’s not to what you do it is what Jesus did on the cross, that is grace, Mary has no part in anyone’s Salvation, that is doctrine that comes from the teaching of the Catholic Church . I come from A catholic background, I still attend mass ,at the Catholic Church, but I attend especially to ask others , they like if I pray for them, I find them always receptive In receiving prayers . I would say, if you kneel down, close your eyes and pray with all heart your mind your soul and your strength believing you receive it , God will answer your prayers. He doesn’t answer prayers that is of repetition , if you want to know how to pray, read the palms, David poured out his heart to the God of Israel , how he felt and what was going on in his life. God already know all, but he wants us to come to him. I saw and I know the difference. I read the old Testament and I would spend hours in the morning talking to the Lord, what is the church teaching Lord ? what did the Catholic priest read to know you ? , I was angry! I knew about Jesus but I did not know him personally, I later realise he wants us to know him personally or I would end up in hell. He began to stir my heart and I did not know where I can go it worst yet who can I talk to , I did not know the Bible I did nkt know the Word of God , I thought maybe I should go to the Catholic Church and talk to some one , but I heard a very Stern voice , No Not There ! I thought? , so where then ? Foolishly I went all the way to the Vatican . Lots of people queueing … I realised no it’s not here. I stayed with a friend unknowingly she was Buddhist ! Goodness ! I returned to London not knowing where to go , later I realised we look for God In the garbage bins . Yoga, we join new age Buddhist. But none satisfy , only Jesus satisfy . Our longing. The Holy Spirit led me to Holy Trinity Brompton in London, and on Pentecost Sunday2002 he catapult into heat seeking missile. That is over 20 years ago and he has held my gaze ,I don’t concentrate on any thing for long, but with the Holy Spirit 24/7 he is my thought Word and deed , and I encourage others, so please read the Bible. The rosary would lead you to hell read the Bible! The rosary is NOT biblical and see for yourself. GOD would not accept anyone or share his glory with anyone, ir any idol , if you call Mary his mother, the relationship between Mary and Jesus changed , it was not about Mary but we can learn from Mary her obedience is beyond . . Why Did Jesus say in LUKE , 11:27-28 true blessedness 27 As he was speaking, a woman in the crowd called out, “God bless your mother-the womb from which you came, and the breasts that nursed you!” 28 Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.” This is Salvation ! not the rosary. It is a religious spirit! when I was throwing my rosary away it tugged at my heartstring, I reached to pick it up and I heard leave it very stern ! Jesus said my sheep hear my voice and they listen . There is a battle for souls and Satan and his demons are going all out. The one true church are the believers in Christ, spiritual Israel , we are grafted in into the one Church. And it not religion but relationship. . The church is build by God’s own hand. When my faith is threaten , I know Jesus prays for me, just as he told Peter , Satan asked to sift you like sand but I have prayed for you. Can that which is small contain that which is Big ? God longs to give us his Holy Spirit to empower us, he knows without his Holy Spirit we are toast in Satan hands , he wants to be strong. Mary can’t give us the Holy Spirit , the Holy Spirit give us translation when we read the Bible then he gives us revelation then we got transformation. Into a new creation. In Christ call Born Again , he removes our sin as far as the east is from the west and remember them no more . This scripture cancels our purgatory , WARNING ! purgatory is adding to God’s Word that has serious consequences. The Catholic Church want to take away Eph , 2:8-9 for it by grace through faith we are saved, it is a gift from God , not works, ( indulgences ) not of our selves (we can’t earn salvation ) SO NO ONE CAN BOAST ! Written in stone ! 1tim 2:5 for there is only ONE GOD and ONE MEDIATOR between God and mankind the Man Christ Jesus , who gave himself as a ransom for all . And we don’t need a Pope , the priesthood was done away with when Jesus died on the cross , the Jewish priesthood came to an end AD70 when Jerusalem was destroyed . Jesus became our high priest . Hebrew 4:14:16 Jesus The Great High Priest! 14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven,[a] Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are-yet he did not sin. #16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.# We don’t need to ask the dead to pray for the living , God gave us his Holy Spirit never to be alone. . All who are joining the Catholic Church are looking for religion , I did not have to leave the catholic church but I have freedom in Christ to go to any church and listen to the word of God , I hardly attend the Catholic Church , because I now know Jesus personally, I have a personal relationship with my Heavenly Father through the Holy Spirit in Jesus name. I know it’s the believers in Christ who are the church not religion. That is his Church he is building a people of power a people who are called by his name … Christian. Not all Christians are Christians . I’m speaking of spiritual Christians. God is Spirit and he is looking for people who will worship him in spirit and in truth. Not through religion ! One question if the Catholic Church is the true church why was people stragjez and killed for teaching the Bible to children . Today Catholics still don’t read and study God’s Word believe snd obey , they listen to doctrine believe and live but it . That has no salvation ….that is scary! Salvation is real experience . Hell is real there is no turning back your name is written in the book of life there is One heaven and it our father who art I heaven not hail Mary. Mary in the Bible is not the. One the catholic church teaches . Don’t take my word for it . Read the BIBLE FROM Genesis to revelation .its the Holy Spirit who will translation,if Gods Word then he give you revelation and you believe, he transforms you, into a new creation in Christ , called Born Again, now you know truth , and the truth sets you free , the Holy Spirit brings freedom and relationship with God in the name of Jesus , this make Christianity different from religion. Only Hod gives the jolt spirit no priest can declare you are born again without the evidence of the manifestation of the Holy Spirit . Whew!

@@amoyjoyce1117 the Rosary is a deep meditation of the 4 Gospels centered in the Life & Actions of Jesus Christ using words which come directly from the Gospel. No one can have a relationship with someone they don't know and it's impossible for someone praying the Rosary NOT to get to know Jesus on a much deeper level. Reading the Gospels is one thing - like jet skiing on the Ocean & Mediating on the Gospels using the Rosary is quit another - like scuba diving in the Ocean. If someone wants to truly KNOW Jesus, they ought to do both daily!!! I think Satan Loves it when he's succeeded in convincing people, like the way I was raised to believe, that the Rosary is evil. I double dog dare you to pray the Rosary for a week.

Please read you Bible don’t lose the way don’t be blinded. I believe sooner God will bring you out of this false church. Remember we don’t belong in a church we are putting our trust in God so please read the Bible for yourselves. God is the way the truth and the light. Please let the truth be revealed to you. If a church breaks even one of God rules or adds to the Bible it’s not God’s church remember what God said revelations “And I solemnly declare to everyone who hears the words of prophecy written in this book: If anyone adds anything to what is written here, God will add to that person the plagues described in this book.” Revelation 22:18 there are many things the Catholic Church assess to the Bible and also misinterprets the Bible and makes up its own things that were never Moncton to be followed in the Bible forgetting that the Bible is what we look at not the church. Here are a few things that the Catholic Church has changed 1. Praying to Saints and Mary • Catholic Practice: Catholics pray to saints and Mary, asking them to intercede with God on their behalf. Bible: in the Bible Christ is the only mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5), praying to saints is never mentioned in the Bible that is idolatry 2. Veneration of Mary • Catholic Practice: holding Mary, the mother of Jesus, in very high regard, calling her the "Queen of Heaven" and emphasizing her perpetual virginity, immaculate conception, and assumption into heaven. In the Bible While Mary is honored in the Bible, critics claim that doctrines such as the Immaculate Conception (Mary being conceived without sin) and the Assumption (Mary being taken bodily into heaven) are not explicitly found in Scripture. It is blasphemous to say that Mary is the queen of heaven. On God rules the heaven so why would a someone created by God be on the same level as God. There is no place in the Bible no single place that says that Mary was taken to heaven and is queen of heaven this is a idolatry but not many people realize this.

Two decades after leaving behind my Jehovah's Witness upbringing and becoming agnostic, I became a Catholic this Easter Vigil. Every day I'm filled with gratitude to God for discovering a spiritual home rooted in tradition, history, and deep theological teachings. As a newcomer to Catholicism, I've come to realize that some of these teachings can be misunderstood, and I appreciate forums like Allie's channel where Christians engage in respectful and thought-provoking debates. Trent's discussions have helped me grasp some of the finer points and nuances of my newfound faith. I like to say my RCIA class and fr. Mike Schmidt's Catechism in a year were instrumental in laying a solid foundation for my Catechization and I received much needed reinforcing of my understanding of Catholic doctrine through Trent's debates. I was so anti Catholic, anti Catholic books, until one day, I decided to read Catholic books from Catholic sources and found out that Protestants do not understand actually what Catholics really believe, nor do they know the entire biblical bases for their beliefs, they’re missing books, and then I learned these two words ‘Latria’ and ‘Dulia’, I mean, really learned them, then searched for Catholic answers about their biblical bases for these words, I studied why the 10 commandments of the Catholic was different and who changed it, and then I started googling, who started the first Baptist church, who started the first non denominational, who started the first Protestant church, first Anglican, and learned about king Henry the 8th (killing multiple wives, jailing the head priest of England for life) and about Martin Luther 95 thesis, etc… There’s the Catholic explanation of scripture and of history, There’s the Protestant explanation of scripture and of history, There’s the secularist explanation of scripture(40k+ sects) and history… the one who gets the most hate by the entire world, the Catholics… I read about Masonic infiltration into all the world’s organizations, including the CC, and I read the CATECHISM, not to judge at this point, but to truly understand and a whole world opened up. I was so happy, as happy and joyful and filled with love as I did when I learned about JESUS and not just about an unknown, unnamed God I was talking to my entire life knowing one existed… I cried for accusing Catholics of idolatry, I cried so Many cast Mary aside, she prophesied she would be called blessed for all generations. I’m in catechism classes now. I will forever love Protestant enthusiasm and love for God, but now I’m learning the history of the martyrs, the continued unbroken line of Christian history, I’m learning what it meant to be Christian all these years.. who founded the Catholic Church? Not any man, but Jesus Christ. There will always be a battle between good and evil, and it takes place inside the church because the world is lost already. Please give it a chance, just study it, not from Protestant sources, from Catholic sources, understand it, completely, and then do your comparing, cannot understand catholicism by learning it second hand, that truth will always be hidden. Didn’t scripture say that the Saints would Rule with Christ? They’d judge the angels? Even the most outrageous things you’ve heard, let their official sources explain it. Learn about the Papal Bulls against joining freemasonry, the only religion that freemasonry wouldn’t allow join were Catholics forever until recently, if you don’t know about what they do at higher levels, behind closed doors, look up Albert Pike’s morals and dogma, and who they worship. Only the Catholic Church stood against it, and it against the Catholics. She is the mother church and I’m so blessed to be home. Please, Protestant, take the time to learn history, again, from another POV, read the church fathers’ writings.

If Christ Jesus and his apostles did indeed establish the Roman Catholic Church, then why is it that we look in vain, from Matthew through the Apocalypse or Revelation, for any mention whatsoever of the “Holy Father,” or a pope, a college of cardinals, archbishops, metropolitans, patriarchs, monsignors, right reverends, priests, abbots, monks and nuns? The Scriptural record does tell us of Christians being organized back there, but if the structure of the Catholic Church is in line with that of the early Christians, how is it that we find absolutely no mention of it, not even a hint regarding such an elaborate system? On the contrary, Jesus said: “Whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave”; and, “One is your teacher, whereas all you are brothers. Moreover, do not call anyone your father on earth, for One is your Father, the heavenly One.”-Matt. 20:27; 23:8, 9, NW. Further, if Christ established the Roman Catholic Church, why is it that we look in vain in the Holy Bible for such expressions most current among her, such as trinity, purgatory, mass, immortal soul, lent, novenas, indulgences, penances, holy water, veneration of Mary, the Immaculate Conception, the Assumption of Mary, etc.? On the other hand, we read much in the Bible regarding subjects seldom mentioned by the Catholic clergy, such as regards sin’s wages being death, the hope of a resurrection, a new heavens and a new earth, and, above all, the importance of Jehovah’s name.-See Romans 6:23; John 5:28, 29; Revelation 20:5, 6; 2 Peter 3:13; Psalm 83:18; John 17:4, 6; Acts 15:14. Christ did not mix in politics. He told Pilate that his kingdom was no part of the world or else his followers would have fought to prevent his being delivered up. And said the disciple James: “Adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever, therefore, wants to be a friend of the world is constituting himself an enemy of God.” But the Catholic Church has for fifteen hundred years mixed in politics; a classic example being the shrewd, cunning and crafty Cardinal Richelieu, his example being so notorious that Roman Catholic-minded Hollywood did not dare portray him as a cardinal for fear of the wrath of the Catholic Church. Could we imagine a Peter, a John, playing the role of a Cardinal Richelieu?-John 18:36; James 4:4, NW. Then again, ever since her inception at the time of Constantine, the Catholic Church has used force to spread her teachings. Especially notorious in this regard was Charlemagne, the first emperor to be crowned by the pope. Consider also the lives of millions lost in the futile crusades, the wanton massacring of entire cities by the crusaders, men, women and children, even as did Roman Catholic generals during the religious wars of Europe, and as was done in Paris on St. Bartholomew’s night, 1572. Consider also the diabolical tortures inflicted by the dreaded Inquisition, which are without parallel in human history. Catholic apologists, such as Gibbons in his Faith of Our Fathers, would excuse these acts by pointing to intolerance practiced by Protestant sects. But that does not prove that Christ established the Catholic Church, but merely that he also did not establish such Protestant sects! In February, 1954, the public press headlined, “Italian Police Chisel Name Off U.S.-Financed Church,” indicating that the Catholic Church still practices intolerance. Yes, for it was Roman Catholic police, in Roman Catholic Italy (more than 99 per cent Roman Catholic, according to the Catholic Almanac), who chiseled the name of a Protestant church off its walls at the orders of Roman Catholic officials, orders that were based on a concordat signed by the Vatican and Mussolini. Could we imagine Jesus or his apostles causing such a thing to be done? On the contrary, they showed that Christians used spiritual weapons, their sword is God’s Word, and that vengeance belongs to Jehovah and he would repay.-2 Cor. 10:4; Rom. 12:19.

@@alexshatner3907 Honestly, I used to be so disdainful about so many things in the Catholic Church but my own research led me to conclude that I was mistaken. I think it would probably help you (and save you time) if you were to get acquainted with some of the great Protestant scriptural scholars who set out to disprove Catholicism, only to discover that the Catholic Church has been teaching the truth for the last two millennia. Trent Horn is one of them, and then there are Scott Hahn, David Anders, Jimmy Akins, Marcus Grodi, and others. Cardinal Newman also converted from Anglicanism. He said, “To be deep in history is to cease to be Protestant.” I would also recommend a book by (non-Catholic) historian Rodney Stark titled Bearing False Witness: Debunking Centuries of Anti Catholic History. Just wondering if, as a protestant, you were born again? As a Catholic I didn't know and wasn't taught that I could be saved (by being born from above). For Catholics it's all about receiving their sacraments. That's what they focus on rather than putting trust in Jesus.

@@jeromepopiel388Wrong. You misrepresent Catholic theology as most Protestants do. The Bible doesn’t tell us what being born again is, and Protestants disagree on that as they all hold up the Bible and say that is their authority!!!??? So the Holy Spirit is leading them to conflicting truths??? Watch this video as he goes through scripture to see what born again means. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKW7ZZh9qcuff80

@@jeromepopiel388 Maybe you had bad catechesis, but Catholicism teaches that you are born again at your baptism. Receiving that sacrament is being born again. And we put our trust in Jesus and in His sacraments that He instituted to spiritually renew and enliven us.

I was raised protestant and was baptized presbyterian, went to a Baptist church when I was young, and then was at a non-denominational church for 17 years. I was never super anti Catholic since my dad grew up Catholic but the past five years, I grew more and more ant Catholic because of the reformed theology I listened too. My brother decided to convert last year, and we debated for about a year. After a year of debating and research I am now in OCIA on my way to become Catholic, Glory be to God, I'm so happy about it.

@@mitchellosmer1293 Those are great questions! Before I respond, you said it must be in the Bible. You believe in sola scriptura. That means you must prove from scripture that sola scriptura is true, but the Bible never actually teaches sola scriptura. It does however teach to; “So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter.” 2 Thessalonians 2:15. This says to stand firm to tradition whether it’s written or oral. ~#1 The idea that Peter is Pope is in Matthew 16:17-19. The specific word pope is never used, just like the word trinity is never used in scripture but we can get the idea in scripture. in Matthew 16 Peter is given the power to bind and loose, the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and his name is changed and he is made the rock. We also see Peter’s special role in (Acts 15:6-11), (John 21:17). Peter headed the meeting that elected Matthias to replace Judas in (Acts 1:13-26) Peter inflicted the first punishment in (Acts 5:1-11) and he excommunicated the first heritic in (Acts 8:18-23). The Pope is the head bishop of the church. ~#2 Would you assume Mary is saved? If Mary is saved then she is in heaven. Revelation 12:1-6 speaks of a woman who birthed the messiah. Most biblical scholars see this woman representing Mary, Israel, and the church. Since Mary is saved then we know God is the God of the living not the dead (Matthew 22:23) so she is alive, (Hebrews 11 and 12) show us that we are surrounded by the great cloud of witnesses in heaven. ~#3 (1 Timothy 2:5-6 says Jesus is our mediator in the fact that he gave Himself as a ransom for us. Only Jesus is our mediator in the sense that He paid our infinite debt. The role of Mary as “Mediatrix” recognizes God chose Mary to do a huge task. That is her role in the incarnation and redemption of humanity. Mary said yes to the angel Gabriel in (Luke 1:38). Mary consented to being the vessel that carried the infinite God and she raised him from infancy. (1 Timothy 2:1)urges that intercession be made for all people and (James 5:16) says the prayers of the righteous are powerful. If Mary is sinless and righteous in heaven with the other saints, and she is part of the one Body of Christ, then we see it biblically fitting that she can intercede for us and pray for us just like you could pray for me. ~#4 In Luke 1:29 the archangel Gabriel greets Mary by saying “Hail, full of grace.” In Greek this greeting is “Kaire, Kekaritomene”. Generally when someone greeted another with “Kaire” a name or title would be given afterwards. “Hail, King of the Jews” is an example of this in John 19:3. In Hebrew culture names and name changes tell us something permanent about the character of that person. Like “Abram” to “Abraham”(“father” to “father of the multitudes”) or “Saray” to “Sarah” (“my princess” to “princess”). When Gabriel says “Kekaritomene” as his “name” for Mary, this word literally means “she who has been graced” in a complete sense. This adjective “graced” is not just describing a past action, but rather this is used in the perfect tense which indicates that an action has been completed in the past, resulting in a present state of being. The average Christian is not completed in grace and in a permanent sense(Philippians 3:8-12) but according to the angel Mary is. We sin not because of grace but because of a lack of grace, or a lack of cooperation with grace in our lives. ~#5 We believe Mary remained virgin for a few reasons. The words used to describe Jesus brothers can also be used to describe cousins, kin, or relative and in fact, this same word for brother is used with Lot and Abram but they were not brothers. In (John 19:25) there is a “sister” of Mary who is also named Mary but it would be odd to have two literal sisters named Mary indicating it was rather Mary’s relative. (Matthew 27:56) indicates that Jesus brothers, James and Joseph were actually sons of a different Mary. Even Protestants like Martin Luther and John Calvin, and Wesley believed in Mary’s perpetual virginity from scripture. ~#6 Jesus is the head of the church. But in Matthew 16:17-19 he gives Peter the keys of heaven, power to bind a loose, and build his church in this rock(Peter). The pope is the visible representative(head), while Jesus is the invisible head who is authority over all. ~#7 The Bible never explicitly uses the word “Catholic” but the early church used the word Catholic all the time to describe Christs church. The word Catholic just means universal. St. Ignatius of Antioch is one of the earliest church Fathers who was martyred in the colosseum, and believed to be under the teaching of the apostle John. St Ignatius came from Antioch, the place where believers were first called Christian’s in (Acts 11:26). Writing in 110 A.D. St, Ignatius says, “Wherever the bishop appears, there let the people be; as wherever Jesus Christ is, is the Catholic Church.” The apostles creed which was written in the 2nd century, which most Protestants even recite says, “I believe in the Holy Spirit, The Holy CATHOLIC church”. So we know early Christian’s called the church Catholic. ~#8 You say “Christ never taught we can pray to the dead”. Well your right, and the saints in heaven are not dead. In (Matthew 22:32) Jesus says, ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not God of the dead, but of the living.” Also at the transfiguration Jesus spoke to Moses and Elijah. We believe they are part of the Body of Christ and we can ask them to pray for us, just like we ask brothers and sisters on Earth to pray for us. ~#9 Once again, the saints are not dead but alive in Heaven. In (Revelation 5:8) we see the 24 elders offering incense to God, and we are told this incense is the “prayers of the saints”. We do know the saints have awareness of what happens on Earth. Hebrews 12:1 describes the “since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses” after Hebrews 11 talk about the heroes of the Old Testament. In (Revelation 6:9-11) we see the martyrs in heaven asking God when He will avenge their blood on those living in Earth, so we know these saints are aware of Earth and asking God to do something to people on Earth. (Revelation 7:13) shows that one of the elders in heaven is aware of the tribulation on Earth. ~#10 We worship on Sunday because Jesus Christ our Lord rose from the dead on Sunday. (Colossians 2:16-17) says; Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in regard to food or drink or in respect to festival, or a new moon or a Sabbath day-things which are a mere shadow of what is to come, but the substance belongs to Christ. Jesus is the fulfillment of the Sabbath. ~#11 In (John 20:21-23) Jesus gave the apostles the authority to forgive sin. Jesus also said “Just as the Father sent me, even so I send you.” Jesus gives His authority to forgive sins to the apostles and sends them, just as the Father sent Him. You would have to prove from scripture that this authority to forgive sins ends with the apostles. The Bible does indicate that the apostles appointed new men, who laid hands on new men, and we believe this is apostolic succession. ~#12 Concerning priests forgiving sins Paragraph 1441 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church states: Only God forgives sins. Since he is the Son of God, Jesus says of himself, "The Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins" and exercises this divine power: "Your sins are forgiven." Further, by virtue of his divine authority he gives this power to men to exercise in his name. We see this is (John 20:21-23). ~#13 The Catholic Church teaches that Christ can save anyone, even non Catholics. Protestants can be saved by having an imperfect union with the Church, through baptism, faith, and repentance. Christ has bound us to the sacraments for salvation under ordinary means but God is not bound by the sacraments. This means under ordinary means baptism saves( Mark 16:16),(John 3:5), (1 Peter 3:21),( Acts 2:38),(Matthew 28:29), and under ordinary means we must eat Christs body and blood(Eucharist) (John 6:54),( John 6:56). The church is where we can find the fullness of the Christian faith, and where we find Gods grace through the sacraments He established. In (Luke 10:16) after Jesus sends out the 72 He states, “The one who hears you hears me, and the one who rejects you rejects me, and the one who rejects me rejects him who sent me.” The church is Christs church, we should be part of the church He established. ~#14 Prayer beads are a practice that help us count our prayers and focus on our place in prayer so we don’t loose our place. ~#15 Christ started a church. (1 Timothy 3:15) describes the church as a pillar and foundation of truth. Jesus said the gates of hell would not prevail against His church( Matthew 16:18). (2 Thessalonians 2:15-17) tells us to hold firm to tradition whether by word of mouth or by letter. The church has teaching authority. The church has the authority to forgive sins(John 20:21-23). If you read the early church fathers they all sound very Catholic in their theology and practices. This would indicate that the Catholic Church is closet to the early church. All other churches throughout history split from the Catholic Church. ~#16 Jesus gave the apostles the authority to forgive sins in (John 20:23) and whenever the Bible says to “confess sins” this does not refute confession to a priest because those verses never specify that we should only confess to God in private prayer. We do see confessing sins to others in the Bible; - Christians confessing their beliefs to other people (Matthew 10:32), (Luke 12:8), (John 9:22), (Acts 24:14) (Romans 10:9-10) (1 Timothy 6:12) (Titus 1:16) (1 John 2:23 4:2, 4:15)

One thing I haven’t heard in this talk, which is a main concern regarding praying or speaking to people who are deceased, is the command against necromancy, or consulting the dead. It seems to be too fine a line that often gets crossed, and many catholic people believe that our deceased loved ones guide us through life, and walk with us. And that is a very clear thing in scripture for what not to do
@jerome264225 күн бұрын
You are right to define NECROMANCY as "consulting spirits of the dead". But that definition is incomplete. You must include "magic" in the definition, because every English dictionary defines necromancy as "a magical act" or "a form of black magic". And so NECROMANCY isn't simply the act of "communicating with people who have died". Rather, it is the act of using MAGICAL POWERS to CONSULT spirits of the dead. And the word "consult" means "seeking information or knowledge about something" A good example of Necromancy is described in 1 Samuel chapter 28. Here, King Saul asked a woman to use her MAGICAL powers to summon or call up the spirit of Samuel because he wanted to CONSULT Samuel i.e he was seeking knowledge or information about the future of his kingdom from Samuel. Saul wasn't just COMMUNICATING with Samuel; he was specifically CONSULTING Samuel (Not every COMMUNICATION is a CONSULTATION) Catholics do not practice Necromancy because (a) They do not utilize any form of magical powers to "summon" or "call up" Mary or any of the saints in heaven (b) They are not consulting Mary for any information about future events. They are simply asking her to pray to God on their behalf

The 2nd century Christian Church father Tertullian wrote, "Having taken the bread and given it to His disciples, Jesus made it His own body, by saying, 'This is My body,' that is, the symbol of My body. There could not have been a symbol, however, unless there was first a true body. An empty thing or phantom is incapable of a symbol." (Against Marcion, 4.40) This is in the context of refuting the Docetic heresy of denying that Jesus had a physical body. But Tertullian clearly wrote that the bread is a symbol of His body. You may not agree, but this debunks the claim that the symbolic view of communion is some new Protestant idea

Catholic convert from Presbyterian here, this was a fantastic interview, very charitable on both sides. Would love to hear more from Trent on justification and clear up the huge misunderstanding of the role of works - as he said we cannot merit initial justification, but our works can increase our sanctification once when we are justified. Catholics need to understand what our church teaches on this as well…we cannot earn salvation. Looking forward to part two!!!
@revelation12_18 ай бұрын
Increasing our sanctification has nothing to do with earning salvation. For instance, Protestants often quote Ephesians 2:8-9 to say works don’t matter: 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God -- 9 not because of works, lest any man should boast. But then ignore the very next verse: _10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them._ Even Jesus says that not everyone who says Lord Lord will enter the kingdom but only the one who _does_ the will of the Father.
@SavedbytheLordsgrace18 ай бұрын
The works are a *by-product* of saving faith, but no good work a human being could do could ever merit salvation. That’s why verse 10 isn’t quoted, because verses 8-9 emphasise that salvation is GOD’S work and Catholics so often misunderstand v. 10 to argue that works save us. All saving faith will *produce* good works (otherwise it’s antinomian rubbish and not real faith), but to argue that good works produce or contribute to a person’s righteousness in any way, as Catholicism and the rest of the world does, is heresy and not true. Righteousness comes only from trusting in Christ. And when a person trusts in Jesus and is born again, then they can walk in the good works that He prepared for them in advance. (V. 10). Which shows that sanctification is also Jesus’s work, as He’s the Founder and Perfecter of the faith of those who trust in Him (Hebrews 12:2)

The RCC doctrine changes the gospel and that means it is not a saving gospel, it is a works gospel. I get this information I am sharing from Mike Gendron and his Proclaiming the Gospel ministry. Mike is an ex-roman catholic, as am I. God opened my eyes to the false teaching of the RCC. There are many Scriptures in the Bible that state we are saved by God’s grace alone. Jesus is the ONLY way, not one of many multiple-choice ways that so many false religions teach. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” The numbers Mike put after what the RCC teaches is the paragraph number where it is found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church The Bible teaches: Titus 3:5 “He saved us, not because of any righteous deeds we had done, but because of His mercy” RCC doctrine teaches that “by His death and resurrection, Jesus Christ has ‘opened’ heaven to us” [1026]. Each person attains His own salvation by grace and good works [1477]. The Bible teaches: 1 Peter 1:18-19 knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like sliver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, [19] but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. These words apply to the Lord Jesus Christ alone, not to Mary but RCC doctrine teaches that Mary is the sinless co-redeemer, “Without a single sin to restrain her, she gave herself entirely to the person and work of her son; she did so in order to serve the mystery of redemption with Him…being obedient she became the cause of salvation for herself and for the whole human race” [494] The above doctrine of the RCC is blasphemy, it is the doctrine of demons. NOWHERE in Scripture does it say that any person except the Lord Jesus is sinless. Mary knew she was a sinner and in need of a Savior. Luke 1:46-47 And Mary said: “My soul exalts the Lord, [47] And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior! The Bible teaches: Hebrews 10:14 For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified and Hebrews 7:27-28 who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself.” Jesus said when He was hanging on the cross: John 19:28-30 After this, Jesus, knowing that all things had already been accomplished, to fulfill the Scripture, said, “I am thirsty.” [29] A jar full of sour wine was standing there; so they put a sponge full of the sour wine upon a branch of hyssop and brought it up to His mouth. [30] Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit. RCC doctrine denies it is finished. Which means they are calling Jesus a liar when He Himself said IT IS FINISHED! RCC doctrine states” The sacrifice of Christ and the sacrifice of the eucharist are one single sacrifice..the same Christ who offered Himself once in a bloody manner on the altar of the cross is contained and offered in a unbloody manner” [1397]. The sacrifice is “offered in reparation for the sins of the living and the dead” [1414]. The RCC is saying that Jesus is continually being sacrificed on the alter, that is why they have Him hanging on the cross. Jesus is not on the cross, He is seated at the right hand of the Father. RCC priests actually think they have the authority to call Almighty God from His throne in heaven to sacrifice Him on their ‘altar’ and they actually believe they are turning bread and wine into the actual body of Jesus Christ. And then the priest holds up this fake Jesus for the congregation to worship. BLASPHEMY! IDOLATRY! They are worshipping a false Jesus. Who would want mankind to worship a false Jesus and believe a false gospel? Satan of course. Jesus did not die for dead people. After we die our eternity is sealed forever. If Jesus is not your Lord and Savior, your eternity will be in hell. We have nothing whatsoever to offer to God. We come to Him with a broken spirit. Psalm 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, You will not despise. We cannot do any works to earn our way to heaven. Jesus said, “Repent and believe the gospel.”

@getrit3007Chicago priest needs to reread what Pope Francis said about this issue….
@WC3isBetterThanReforged8 ай бұрын
@getrit3007 if the priest in Chicago is blessing same sex unions, then his bishop should discipline him. However, sola scriptura would not necessarily fix that. Methodists, Lutherans, congregationalists, non-denoms, episcopalians all cite sola scriptura and have varying interpretations. But that priest's bishop can look to definitive teaching and say that priest is wrong. While the dicastery for the doctrine of the faith did issue a document saying homosexuals may be blessed, it can not be such a way that endorses a relationship or endorses their sin. If the priest is doing otherwise he is wrong and going against church teaching.
@WC3isBetterThanReforged8 ай бұрын
@getrit3007 my point was that catholics not only have authoritative scripture but authoritative interpretation by which we can objectively say that priest is teaching error. As for all those denominations i listed, if you don't like the conservative interpretation in a methodist church, you can go down the street to the liberal or vice versa, but both are methodist. But since everything is personal interpretation, there is no heterodoxy or orthodoxy, just differing personal interpretations. And if you call a liberal version of your preferred denomination a heretic, well, that's just your personal interpretation.

Dear@@mitchellosmer1293, yes, we have all read the Bible. God named the seventh day to be a day of rest. He told us in the 10 Commandments to keep holy the Sabbath Day, and we are told how to do this under the Law of Moses. But during the time of the Maccabees, the Greeks wiped out a village of observant Judeans on a Sabbath (1 Maccabees 2:25-38). So those who sat in the Seat of Moses, determined that Judeans could defend themselves if attacked on the Sabbath (1 Maccabees 2:39-41.) Jesus refers to this incident in Mark 3:4. Jesus came to fulfill the law. Not just in a ritualistic way, under the Mosaic Law, but also in the Maccabeen sense of saving Life. And not just on one day a week, but on every day. I am writing this response as a courtesy to you, to give you a fair chance at understanding how far your understanding of the Sabbath is from that which is taught in the Bible (since you do not have the the books of the Maccabees in your Bible, you would not know this history that everyone in Judea and Galilee knew at the time Jesus walked the earth.) But I doubt that I will reply to anything you may say to me, since you have already proclaimed that you intend to read what I say in a twisted manner.

Remember we don’t belong in a church we are putting our trust in God so please read the Bible for yourselves. God is the way the truth and the light. Please let the truth be revealed to you.

No, the Bible does not teach that Mary is the mother of God, nor does it suggest that Christians should either worship or venerate Mary. a Consider: • Mary never claimed that she was the mother of God. The Bible explains that she gave birth to “the Son of God,” not God himself.-Mark 1:1; Luke 1:32. • Jesus Christ never said that Mary was God’s mother or that she was worthy of special devotion. In fact, he corrected a woman who gave special attention to Mary’s happy role as his mother, saying: “No, rather, happy are those hearing the word of God and keeping it!”-Luke 11:27, 28. • The terms “Mother of God” and “Theotokos” (God-bearer) are not found in the Bible. • The expression “Queen of Heaven” in the Bible refers, not to Mary, but to a false goddess worshipped by apostate Israelites. (Jeremiah 44:15-19) The “Queen of Heaven” may have been Ishtar (Astarte), a Babylonian goddess. • Early Christians did not worship Mary, nor did they give her any special honor. One historian states that early Christians “would have rejected cults and probably feared that undue attention to Mary might evoke a suspicion of goddess worship.”-In Quest of the Jewish Mary. • The Bible says that God has always existed. (Psalm 90:1, 2; Isaiah 40:28) Since he had no beginning, he cannot have a mother. Furthermore, Mary could not have held God in her womb; the Bible makes clear that even the heavens cannot contain him.-1 Kings 8:27. Mary-Mother of Jesus not “Mother of God” Mary was Jewish by birth, and she was a direct descendant of King David. (Luke 3:23-31) She was highly favored by God for her faith and devotion. (Luke 1:28) God chose her to become the mother of Jesus. (Luke 1:31, 35) Along with her husband, Joseph, Mary had other children.-Mark 6:3. Although the Bible shows that Mary became a disciple of Jesus, not much additional information is given about her.-Acts 1:14. Why do some consider Mary the mother of God? The earliest evidence of devotion to Mary dates from the late fourth century C.E. At that time, the Catholic Church became the State religion of the Roman Empire. As a result, many who had a pagan background became nominal Christians. The church had also adopted the unscriptural teaching of the Trinity. The doctrine of the Trinity led many in the church to conclude that if Jesus were God, then Mary must be the mother of God. In 431 C.E., a church council in Ephesus officially proclaimed Mary the “Mother of God.” Mariolatry-the excessive veneration of Mary-flourished after this Council of Ephesus. And as those from a pagan background joined the church, images and icons of the Virgin Mary gradually took the place of their fertility goddesses, such as Artemis (Diana, to the Romans) and Isis. In 432 C.E., Pope Sixtus III ordered a church to be built in Rome in honor of the “Mother of God.” It was built near the site of an earlier temple erected in honor of Lucina, the Roman goddess of childbirth. One author described this church as “an enduring symbol of the assimilation of the Great Mother of the pagan cults to the cult of Mary after the Christianization of Rome.”-Mary-The Complete Resource.

@Whatintheworlt I don’t watch all of her videos, so I can’t make a determination to this cringe you speak of. However my original point stands. We have lots of doctrinal differences (including but not limited to the Catholic understanding of the same scriptures she has a different interpretation of) but she has much of her scripture memorized, she’s put herself out in the world to share her faith and Jesus. While she disagrees with Catholic theology she isn’t online spitting on people who identify as Catholics. If not for her forum we wouldn’t have had the opportunity to see this discussion for instance. I could not abide an existence without the Jesus in the Eucharist so this page will not change my firm faith, however I love seeing people speak publicly about Jesus and His unfathomable love and mercy. All that being said, I respect your right to your opinion. I may disagree with her interpretation of scripture, however Jesus is The Word and to quote scripture verbatim is to share Christ. I have trust in Gods power that He is capable of using all of us broken vessels to share His Mercy, and if someone is seeking God will their whole heart, we’ve been told that we WILL find Him. “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” Anyway, I’ll stop, I don’t disagree that there is a possibility, and obviously it’s happened given all the churches with same sex couples who are married, or where trans people are pastors etc. I have not witnessed anything I would consider demonic when I’ve seen Allie’s videos. I am open to being wrong.

Jesus or the "Church"??? >>>>>>>> Sola Scriptura, or “God’s Word alone,” maintains that the Bible is the highest source of authority in a Christian’s life, the final court of appeal (though not the only authority: the Bible itself mentions governmental and other authorities). Sola fide, or “faith alone,” affirms that justification-being made right with God-comes only through faith in Jesus. Sola gratia, or “grace alone,” says sinners are saved as an unearned gift of God’s grace, “not as a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Eph 2:8-9). Sola Christo (“solus Christus”), or “Christ alone,” emphasizes the exclusivity of Jesus’ role in salvation: “No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). And soli Deo gloria, or “to the glory of God alone,” says that the purpose of creation, salvation, and everything-including our goal as Christians-is the glory of God, “that God may be all in all” (1 Cor 15:28). I can certainly understand why the roman Catholic does not agree with scripture . It would have to get rid of some , not all , some doctrines that are totally false. @timboslice9808 ай бұрын
@DavidJosephBoth It's called catholicism, I know you probably never looked into it seriously. I was an anti catholic for a long time, the church I grew up in was traditional. These days the UMC is lost but in the 80s they actually cared about scripture. John Wesley created a method to reduce and eliminate sin from someone's life. It was known as the Wesley method. Methodist became a slur against his students that they proudly accepted. That's not to say I didn't study other branches of protestantism. I studied Calvin's doctrines for 10 years, read luther, Spurgeon, rc sproul, cs Lewis and listened to podcasts from Doug Wilson, James white, Michael brown, John MacArthur, Francis Chan, and about a dozen lesser known pastors like John Samson. All that study and perspective and I still found myself confused about some passages. The best pastors couldn't explain it.... for instance, I've never heard a logical reason why calvinists believe the Jewish had no choice in choosing christ. He literally weeps because they would not choose him. Eventually I figured nobody really has it figured out and we should all just do our best with interpretation. It's a crazy long story but I started investigating the catholic church to prove it wrong. Eventually I realized they were right and the true church. Honestly don't have a single Bible difficulty, all the doctrines are sound logic, all the traditions dig back into the first century. You should at least look into what we belive. The chances are 100% that you have a misunderstanding about the church. If you didn't, you'd be catholic too.

@@timboslice980 My friend, there is nothing biblical about praying to Mary and other saints. Christians are called to pray to ONE God. We are not to call on the name of any other name other than Jesus. There is nothing biblical about going to a priest and confessing your sins and being "forgiven" and then giving penitence. There is one high priest, and that is Jesus, and He is the only one that can forgive sins. We have no need of an intercessor between the Father and us on earth any longer as we now have Jesus who goes directly to the Father. The amount of absolute idolatry worship in the catholic church is staggering. Have you ever seen the Vatican? Have you seen all the pagan imagery? Have you seen how the catholic church has taken pagan gods and littered the Vatican and their other "holy" churches with it's imagery? Have you seen the Pope's Audience hall that looks exactly like a snake and was built that way purposefully? I'm well aware the disagreements within the Christian church. Calvinism is certainly not something that I agree with at all. Salvation was paid in blood FOR ALL. It is us who chooses to believe or not. We accept, or reject Christ and his free gift. Calvinism is absolutely wrong in every way.

@@EliVanFleet Check out the vatican snake hall debunked. People take pictures of it from a specific angle to make it look that way. Any other angle and the image disappears….. its a silly conspiracy theory. Also check revelation 5:8 When he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell before the Lamb, each holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. How do the angels and saints get the prayers to offer to god here? Do we pray prayers only to god, he then takes the prayers and gives them to the angels and saints to offer back up to god? How absurd!? Sometimes i think you guys don’t look up what Catholics believe before you criticize us. It’s obvious you have a prejudice against catholics. The thing is there are certain theological principles and full on passages in scripture that are NEVER the topic of sermons. I’ve never heard a pastor talk about Romans 2, they literally always start at 3 because no Protestants seem to realize theres a distinction between good works and works of the law. This causes a theological virus in your thinking that causes you to ignore so much scripture it’s alarming. You guys cant make sense of matthew 16, james 2, and revelation in its entirety. Vestments, incense, prayers to saints, the queen of heaven, not tolerating sinners in church, the Eucharist the whole book is so catholic that you guys just say “its a symbolic book” Why is it of Protestants dont get it, they just assume its symbolic? @@Ruth_1_16 He and many other have countless of debates and responses on videos regarding Mary. Praying to Mary is a layered theological doctrine because it talks about venerating Mary in a unique way because she's the mother of God, and because she's the queen so she does get a special grace for being the queen, another layer is the idea of prayer to Christians who are not alive on Earth, the next layer would be to explain what prayer actually is and isn't. There's a lot of barriers to explain before you can even get to why Catholics make a big deal about Mary. Feel free to check out other Catholic videos on KZbin that deal with that question specifically. He did answer it though. He said later on the conversation that the body of Christ is one shared with those on earth and with those in heaven so if we can communicate with those on earth we can also communicate with those in heaven because prayer just means asking. He was spending some time trying to understand the framework of our vocabulary because prayer means asking or intercession for Catholics. She thinks that dead Christians are dead and are not aware of anything in heaven (where is that in the Bible) but Catholics believe that Christians are alive with Jesus in heaven (to be away from this body is to be with the Lord) and are aware of what's going on (The angels rejoicing over someone repenting on earth is a sign of heaven being aware, we have a cloud of witnesses like in Hebrews mentions, He mentioned in the catacombs of the early church that they would ask Peter and Paul to pray for at that loved one even though Peter and Paul have been dead for a long time at that point). I encourage you to rewatch the video or look up other Catholic videos that deal specifically with that issue.

Moses went up to the mountain and it didn’t even go a week and they started to worship a cow. So the fact that the Apostles died and left disciples doesnt actually say much. Not to mention how John says he was banned from a church by a diciple. Furthermore Jesus Christ rebuked alot of chuches saying they had gone astray in Revelation. Besides how do we even know that the teachings left from the diciples of the apostles are even real? For scriptures we have many manuscripts but how reliable are these writings? On the other hand when (in the old testament) all got corrupted and no one worshipped God or remembered how to worship God, meaning there was no tradition, King Josiah read the scriptures and it was an authority for Israel and God accepted it their repentance. So.

@@melodybarbour3218 The Catholic Church has never taught such a doctrine and, in fact, has constantly condemned the notion that men can earn or merit salvation. Catholic soteriology (salvation theology) is rooted in apostolic Tradition and Scripture and says that it is only by God’s grace-completely unmerited by works-that one is saved. The Church teaches that it’s God’s grace from beginning to end which justifies, sanctifies, and saves us. As Paul explains in Philippians 2:13, “God is the one, who, for his good purpose, works in you both to desire and to work.” Notice that Paul’s words presuppose that the faithful Christian is not just desiring to be righteous, but is actively working toward it. This is the second half of the justification equation, and Protestants either miss or ignore it.

@@Bornagaincatholic101 The RC church does teach such doctrine. I gave you God's word and RC doctrine. Why do RC go to mass? Why do RC baptize babies? Why do RC think there is a purgatory? Why do RC pray to Mary? Why is Jesus still on the cross when He said, "It is finished!"? Why do RC think that Mary remained a virgin? Why do RC believe that Mary was without sin? We are saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus. We repent of our sins and have faith in Jesus' finished work on the cross. We don't add anything to it. We repent like the tax collector when he said, "God have mercy on me, the sinner. We don't 'pray' like the Pharisee who boasts in what he has done. Matthew 7:21-23 "Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord," will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter [22] Many will say to Me on that day, "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform may miracles?' [23] And then I will declare to them "I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTIVE LAWLESSNESS.' Notice how the people talking to Jesus are saying, "Look what we did, look what we did." They did not have faith in Jesus for their salvation, they were working their way to heaven. In addressing your last paragraph. We are made righteous by faith in Jesus Christ. God imputes Jesus' righteousness to born again believers. Without saving faith, we can do nothing. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

As for all converts, it won’t be easy and it won’t always be pretty, but it is the pearl of great price that she will find she must have, at all cost. As long as Protestants remain outside of the only Church established by Christ, having abandoned Sacred Tradition, the Magisterium and most of the sacraments, and using an abbreviated and edited Bible, they do not have the fullness of the Faith. I specifically addressed Roman Catholicism because that is what this video is about and I used to be Roman Catholic and God, through His word and through a teacher, gifted by the Holy Spirit graciously taught me the truth. Only the gospel of Jesus Christ that God has said in His word can save us. False gospels cannot save. Jesus Christ was born of a virgin and lived a sinless life and gave Himself as a blood sacrifice for guilty sinners. He was crucified for our iniquities, He died in our place for the death we owed. The wages of sin is death. And He rose from the dead, granting us eternal life for all who believe. We cannot add anything else to the gospel. As soon as any religion says you have to do good works, you have to go to mass, you have to confess your sins to a priest, you have to appease God with your 'sacrifices,' that is adding to the gospel and Paul says in Galatians 1:8-9 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! [9] As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed! For anyone wondering what the rosary is… it is essentially a biblical walk through ❤ We start by reciting the Creed, which is what we believe as a whole, based on the teachings of Christ. I believe everything stated in the Creed can be referenced back to the Bible. ❤ Then we recite the Our Father, which was taught by Jesus Himself as the perfect prayer, and can be found verbatim in the Bible. ❤ Surprisingly enough, the first half of the Hail Mary is also found verbatim in the Bible, in Luke. When we say “Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with Thee” we are quoting the Archangel Gabriel’s greeting to the Virgin Mary at the Annunciation (which can be found in the gospel according to St. Luke). Then we say “Blessed are Thou amongst women and blessed is the Fruit of Thy womb, Jesus”, which is also a direct quote from the gospel according to St. Luke, and is St. Elizabeth’s greeting to Mary at the visitation. ❤ Then for the second half of the Hail Mary, we say, “Holy Mary (just as the Archangel Gabriel referenced Mary to be Holy), Mother of God (also just a biblical fact), pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.” So we are just stating Her title (which is biblically referenced) and asking no Her to pray for us, because She holds such an incredible title and is therefore so especially loved by God. ❤ Then we state the Glory Be, which can be referenced back to biblical teaching ❤ And then before each decade, we remember and meditate on a different part of Jesus’ life with very specific Bible references. ❤ So I hope you can look up “scriptural rosary” and really see the beauty of the rosary as a biblical walk through. ❤

As a converted Catholic, one of the reasons I became Catholic was because they honored Mary like she was Jesus's mother. Even if she didn't answer prayers, she should be valued and respected so much.

Raised Catholic and then left to become Presbyterian and then realized something was missing. I went back to the Catholic Church and fell in love with Jesus in the Eucharist. Nothing compares! Jesus words are true when He says, Unless you eat my flesh…you have no life in you! I invite everyone to come to Jesus and experience His healing Love and peace in the Eucharist!❤

Bread isn't changing to Jesus's flesh and wine isn't changing to blood. Science can show us today that this isn't true. Just eat communion bread attach some isotopes ,swallow it with an endoscope. When it gets to the stomach, after some hours bring it back up and check if it's flesh or a different person's blood.

@@mitchellosmer1293 Where in the Bible does the Bible say that the Bible ALONE is your only Authority and everything has to be stated in the Bible in order to believe it? Tradition really opens up the door for why we pray to Mary. The disconnect between Protestants and Catholics is Sola Scriptura. If you can ONLY focus on the Bible as your only source for Christian teachings then your limiting your understanding of Christianity. Trent said: The Word of God is how we know that praying to Mary is beneficial. The Word of God is both Scripture and Oral Tradition which is BTW IN SCRIPTURE. Paul says that much Christian teaching is to be found in the tradition which is handed down by word of mouth (2 Tim. 2:2). He instructs us to “stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter” (2 Thess. 2:15). I always have to point out that there isn’t any scripture verses that says Bible ALONE is our only authority. Again, that’s the disconnect. If you can show me the verse then I’ll gladly start answering all your questions.

“If one does it will either be out of context or twisted scripture”-You. This is not language of someone wanting to seek truth. You are asking these questions in the mindset of sola scriptura. First, you have to remove yourself out of this box to find the fullness of the faith. Be careful not to think in black and white (clearly In Bible/Not in Bible). The Bible was still being formulated throughout the first 300 years of the church, at the same time, the Church fathers and earliest Christians were establishing traditions and rituals. (Language Catholic Church uses): “Asking Mary for her intercession” was among these early traditions established as Trent said in the video. In the same way the Bible was put together so was the early Catholic Doctrine. Again, in the video, even though the lady put an ad right in between his best point, he says the earliest Christians were asking the apostles to pray for them and the earliest recorded prayer in history was asking the Theotokos “Mary” to pray for us. Many people hate what they think the Catholic Church is, but almost no one hates what’s the Catholic Church truly is.

She put a b+ effort. She unfortunately was a little out of her depth w/Trent & unfortunately there wasn't enough time for him to unwind on Mariology. I think she should entertain having a guest like a Scott Hahn, a Tim Staples to dive into Mary because frankly, as Protestants, we really have Mary incorrect. Trent nailed it when he spoke of inscriptions and earliest findings describing the Theotokos & belief in her intercession.
