Dear David, God bless You and your wife. I would share this with You : By the will of Christ, the Catholic Church is, in fact, mistress of truth: its function is to authentically express and teach the Truth which is Christ [...] the disciple is bound towards Christ Master TO THE DUTY TO KNOW EVER MORE FULLY THE TRUTH THAT HE RECEIVED FROM HIM, to announce it faithfully and to defend it energetically while refraining from any means contrary to the Spirit of the Gospel. (Extract from the book “365 Days of Hope” by Cardinal Nguyen Van Thuan)

Keith Nester is a legend. In one of his talks, he pointed out that with the times we live in everyone wants a new St Francis of Assisi to stand up or a new St Thomas Aquinas to correct everyone. Keith then got real passionate and said, "Friends, God didn't put them in this time! God put you! Go be the saint the world needs today!"

Even the nature of your condemnation of the Catholic Church is not rooted in the fruit of the Holy Spirit. There is no charity or compassion. And frankly, sir, you are wrong. The Catholic Church is the true church that Jesus Christ died in order that through His death, She would be born. A real question??? Why would you think that John 6 is a metaphor and not the declaration of a Loving God, who desires to be so close to us that He becomes one flesh with His children. It is beautiful and it is true. The Old Testament unfolds the Mass and the Eucharist that ultimately comes to it’s rest and fulfillment in Christ, the unblemished, sacrificial lamb. Everything the Catholic Church teaches, believes and participates in, is founded and deeply rooted in scripture and is lived out through the sacraments which Christ Himself established and commanded, even confession. May God bless you in your desire to reveal truth, but may He also give you the wisdom and courage to see what the truth is and come to believe and worship as God desires and founded and not as man established🙏🙏!!! All Glory to God!!

If one thing is true among all religious believers is that they all want to know the truth. But they all cannot have the truth when they have different doctrines, different beliefs, and differents Gods while believing by faith. So what hinders them from obtaining the truth when they have both faith and prayers? After all, all things are supposed to be possible to one that believes. The answer to this dilemma can be clearly seen when one compares indoctrination (a way of thinking in which all converts have in common) to critical thinking, which is the direct antithesis of faith and religion. I) Indoctrination tells one what to think, where as critical thinking teaches you how to think. 2) Indoctrination says, "believe what you are told and do not doubt". Critical thinking says, "assume nothing, but rather, question that which you don't understand". 3) Indoctrination says, "believe without evidence". Critical thinking says, "believe because of evidence". 4) Indoctrination says, "l believe, therefore it is so". Critical thinking says, "ln the absence of evidence, judgement or decision making must be suspended until evidence is available". 5) lndoctrination says, "Truth is a matter of faith which is based on one's belief". Critical thinking says that truth is the extent to which a claim conforms to reality. 6) lndoctrination says that l can do all things because of what l believe. Critical thinking says, "Show me that you can do all things, and l will know that you are able to do all things". 7) lndoctrination says that if you don't believe as l do, then you are wrong! Critical thinking says, "We wait until the evidence shows who is right and who is wrong". 8) Indoctrination say, "Lean not on your own understanding". Critical thinking says, "Whose understanding shall l lean on if not my own?". 9) Indoctrination is that childish bully on the play ground, taking advantage only of the smaller kids. Critical thinking is that cival, humanitarian adult who has learned to treat people with respect just as he would like others to treat him with respect. Indoctrination breaks the rules of reasoning, logic, and rationality, thereby giving way to naivete, absurdity, and an unrestrained arrogance for what may not be right nor true.

@@mariobethell3731 that is what separates us from christian cults. In catholic faith you are free to leave and free to join. Number 2, testimonies are actual anecdotal facts 3. No one inside the church will bully you if you leave the faith but will just pray for you on your spiritual journey becAuse we believe everyone of us is on a “journey” to the truth. 4th you are free to learn things along the way and that is mostly each person’s experience. Growing up catholic i don’t know everything. We were just taught to read the Bible , go to mass in sundays, (they wont even push you to go even inside the family) etc and the rest is up to you. So how can you say there is indoctrination??

I am just so desperate for direction. Please pray for me and my family. I feel an urgency to bring my family home, but how I wish my husband would be the one to lead us there. I can sympathize with your fears. The truth is absolute, however, and the Holy Spirit will guide you. Continue to study God's word. Look at some of the videos by Dr. Scott Hahn, Dr. John Bergsma, Dr. Brandt Petrie, all very learned biblical scholars who have read the scriptures in their original languages, and studied the history of the Church in the 1st century, and the context of why the scriptures were written the way they were. What they find is that Catholic doctrines are all found in the scriptures and there is nothing that deviates from or contradicts scripture in the Catholic church. May God bless you on your journey!

About 3 years ago now I started on a journey as a result of my daughter being of age to go to school. I had the choice to send her to preschool and then the local public school. Or a Catholic preschool and school system. The answer was obvious from an educational perspective however I was a devout Protestant born and raised. I always believed that Catholics were going to Hell and was well versed in the typical anti Catholic low hanging fruit. I desperately wanted to make the right choice for my daughter’s education so I started studying what Catholics actually believe and both of these men’s videos were instrumental to my learning. My father and I had a solid year and half straight of heated arguments about my converting however I am now in the Church and my Father also is in RCIA. God is good!

Love this podcast. I was raised in Reformed Judaism, and I plan on joining RCIA at a local parish next week. I know the Lord is calling me to Catholicism, but I just wish I had more support from my Catholic friends. Not to be rude, but I would’ve thought my Catholic friends would’ve been more welcoming and excited in my journey towards Catholicism. It often feels like they don’t care. No one talks about the difficulties of converting to Catholicism from Judaism. It’s very isolating, and I sometimes wish my Catholic friends would understand/sympathize more with that. Thank you, Keith and Matt, for understanding the difficulty in this process ❤️

As a protestant (in name only at this point) that has been drawn to the church for over 5 years now, I have always been so amazed at how gentle and kind the vast majority of Catholics have been to me as I searched, wondered, questioned, wavered, and longed. Almost no one has ever rushed me or made me feel like I had to make a decision immediately, or that I was not already on a journey with God as a protestant. That was such a very different experience than what I had a non-believer in my teens and early twenties before I came to Christ when encountering evangelicals in my life. Even now, because of my situation- which is that my husband is staunchly opposed to even considering the Catholic church and as we have two young children, and my conversion could lead to separation and a disruption of their lives, all the spiritual direction I have received is to be patient, to wait, to love my husband, to wait on God. It's really hard. Sometimes I want so desparetly to come home, to receive the sacraments, to be in community with Catholics instead of anti-Catholics, and there are times I almost wished that some priest would have told me I needed to convert right then or I would be judged by God for it. But in the end, I know that as hard as this road is, it's the road that God has ordained and its part of not only my own conversion story, but the conversion, Lord willing, of all my family. But all that to say, yes- be gentle, be patient, be kind, be understanding and know that you are not the Holy Spirit. You are just a fellow beggar, there to share some bread.

As a cradle catholic who didn’t learn much about my faith because it never interested me, I would attend mass on a weekly basis because I felt I needed to and that would put me on the good list. I fell away from the faith but still attended mass but was only physically present. Protestant pastors on tv and KZbin helped me learn more about the Lord and want to read the scriptures but I still retained my Catholicism and would pay more attention at mass. I had the itch to take the dive into Protestantism because I liked the music and their services but once covid came, I got more and more into catholic KZbin channels and learned so much about the richness of Catholicism that the itch went away. I still listen to some Protestants sermons and do attend a Bible study at a Protestant church but I don’t feel the need to leave Catholicism.

Haha I’m the opposite, I came to the church with a passionate devotion and my poor husband had to sit through a roller coaster that he found incomprehensible. He didn’t understand what was happening to his wife or why I had turned into a completely different person. We fought about it at first and all the cracks in our marriage definitely showed up. But I took the Lord’s advice and stopped trying to convince him and just prayed for him. A year and a half later I got to watch him be confirmed into the church as well, and now we have a beautiful sacramental marriage on God’s terms ❤️ Time, prayer, and total abandonment to the will of Christ, that’s all we need!

I know how and what you feel, I think. They say that familiarity breeds contempt. That's way too strong as a description of our feelings, but the gist of it is in the right direction. When you're born into something and have lived with it all your life, it's easy to take it for granted. A first-generation wealth builder knows the value of the money he worked so hard for. His wealthy children likely take it for granted. One way of dealing with that "cradle Catholic" feeling with regard to our faith is to hear about the faith journeys of those who had to 1:27:06 1:27:06 work hard through all the struggles and obstacles to their conversion. Working hard to te-ignite the smoldering embers of our faith is little different than a long-lived marriage that has fallen into the rut of daily routines. When that happens, couples resolve to carve out sacred time to be alone in one another's company. We need to do that with Jesus.

Among them my mom getting cured from stage 4 cancer, me experiencing a stop of my Tinnitus for a full hour after confession, and then later on experiencing the Holy mother myself at an apparition in Croatia after all the rhetorics in my mind would still want to lead to a protestant understanding. My husband and I are both cradle Catholics who knew nothing about Church teachings. Considering that I had been married before, and hadn't had the marriage annulled. Partly, I had no understanding of why I needed to do it... But I clearly couldn't afford it. On my husband's side, there was a deacon in the family, who I didn't really know well. At family affairs he use to call my husband aside and would tell him how we were living in sin. At this point we were married at least 10 years of our 34 year marriage, so far. Anyway, I use to get so mad when my husband would tell me this. Shamefully, behind his back, instead of referring to him as a deacon...I would refer to him as a dicken! I set out to learn my Catholic faith in my late 40's, and learnt on my own why this was so important. Pope Francis waved the fee on annulment, and made this possible for me to do. We were married about 20 years when we convalidated our marriage. I am ashamed what I called my husband's family member. Though honestly, thus deacon could have tried to lovingly explain this, instead of "you are living in sin and going to Hell" approach! Sorry this was so long... I talk too much, and can't answer anything with a short version..ha! God bless you my friend! ⚘️

This breaks my heart to hear. My wife is a former Catholic and we were married at a Methodist church by my father the pastor. My wife is absolutely in love with Christ, and pushes me closer to Him daily. Her issues with Catholicism are not from a poor catechesis. They are legitimate, as are mine. That said, I appreciate so much of the rich Catholic beauty and doctrine so often lacking in evangelical churches. Yet we are evangelicals by conviction, no less separated from Christ. Anyone who knows my wife knows she is filled with the fruits of the Holy Spirit, especially Joy. We have been blessed to know the Sacramental Grace of matrimony in a profound way since the day we said I do. To claim that our marriage is invalid in the sight of God is a pharisaical affront to the Sacred Heart of our Lord

I was really worried about a friend who was very interested in Catholicism, and then just sort of fled. While hearing Keith's story, I just looked up at the Crucifix, and the Lord said, "Be not afraid. I am with her. Please keep entrusting her, and your own continued conversion, into the hands of My Mother." We need to be there for those we love, but the Lord does His work.

I just can’t get the Mary as our Mother thing. My own mum was wonderful. I can’t see a need for Mary as my mother. As far as I see it, Mary is the mother of Jesus, she doesn’t replace my own mum.
@Nightguardian
@Nightguardian 3 ай бұрын
@@rosemarybaxter9120 Think of it this way: Mary is a spiritual Mother to us all. This does not diminish in the slightest our very spiritual relationships to our mothers who raised us. While He was dying on the cross, Christ presented His mother to the apostle John, and John to His mother. The way this is understood in Catholicism is that Jesus is giving us all to His mother Mary, and Mary to us all. If we look at the Acts of the Apostles, Mary is with them at Pentecost, in the coming of the Holy Spirit, that is, being Mother to Christ's church, His family. Historically, there have been many apparitions of Mary coming to people as our spiritual Mother, to help bring people to Christ, as it seems that she brought John to the foot of the cross (notice that he was the one who did not hide or run away). Furthermore, the Blessed Mother has made herself known, present to me in my life. Do I have scientific, quantifiable proof of her presence? No. All I can do is testify to my own experience. If you note my above comment above, 4 months ago, the Lord told me to entrust my friend to the hands of His Mother. Well, int he past week, out of the blue this friend has come to me, wanting to discuss Catholicism. So, as I see it, a prayer answered, brought to the Lord in the hands of His Mother. In the Lord's own timing. The Blessed Mother does not replace our own dear mothers, but she is the spiritual Mother to us all, because Jesus wanted to share everything He had with us.

Conversion stories are beautiful anyway though, it’s like they love God so much and are searching and finally found the One they have been searching for. They truly love God and I love them for that. I'm in RCIA right now and my wife is a lukewarm protestant who enjoys spending time at our local Methodist church , she doesn't really understand what's going on with me. My kids are young and don't really know what's going on either. It's nice to hear Keith's story, there are many similarities, except I came from pure Naturalist Atheism. Thank you for sharing your story, please pray for my wife and kids to follow me eventually. I will not push them, but I will pray for them. God Bless.

Statistically kids are most likely to practice the faith if they see their FATHER devoutly practicing it. Fathers have a huge impact and are spiritual leaders of their family. So keep doing what you are doing and focus on being a wonderful husband and father and your love through Christ is what will help them see Christ. I would also look for other devout Catholic dads or couples with kids of similar ages whose company you enjoy so they get to see Catholics in their natural habitat. 😂

I will pray for you, brother. I'm sure that, eventually, your kids will follow you to the light, especially given how comparably appealing Catholicism is to a reasonable mind. Your influence will speak volumes. Be responsible with it. Live your faith through humility and kindness. The rest will fall into place.

I went from Baptist to Lutheran after many years of being dissatisfied with the low view of communion. My husband gave me his blessing and joins me occasionally, as I do with him. We can’t take The Lord’s Supper together, but we still read the Bible together. I would not have left that church if our marriage was not strong. We’ve been married over 25 years and are in a good place. But now my husband is referring to The Lord’s Supper as the real presence ❤️

It's clear that Jesus Christ wants unity for all Christians. I would also urge you to look into the the saints of the Counter-Reformation. Many of the issues that led to Martin Luther's leaving in the first place were fully resolved by the Council of Trent. God bless you both. Keep chasing the Lord!

I converted to Catholicism in 2019 after 55 years as a Protestant member and ordained elder. Through reading the Bible, I finally saw the authority of the Catholic Church in the Bible. Keith was the one I followed most and I think he had just recently converted himself. He really helped me. In a small way, even the Protestant trolls on his page who were offended that I would convert to the Church that Jesus Christ founded. If they hated the Catholic Church that much, it must be from God.

I was baptized Catholic as an infant, but never grew up in the church or read the bible. It wasn't until Feb 2023 when I gave my life to Christ, I started to read the Bible front to back and go to church for the first time. I was attending and volunteering at an Anglican church for 4-5 months not knowing it was Anglican. During this time I've been praying the full Rosary in Latin mostly everyday. I truly believe The Blessed Virgin Mother led me to the Catholic Church. I've now had my first confession, attend Mass every Sunday and going through RCIA for Confirmation. The Rosary is my weapon like how St. Padre Pio calls it.

Love this interview! I don’t think Catholics share enough how the church has wounded them. It’s not all rainbows and sunshine. But it’s beautiful for someone to share they were put off by the Church or wounded and still saw the beauty of Christ’s church; still came to the fullness of the Christian faith. Just like our human family can hurt us, we forgive and heal. More people need to know there is healing when we focus on Christ and not the humans.
