Maybe we are exposing avocados to a lot of air, taking too long making it up. Gonna put water on like you show, also not cutting open avacado until all ingredients are in mixing bowl. Thanks for this great tip!

Use the saran wrap trick but use one of the spritz bottles of lemon or lime juice right before you seal it with the saran, you dont use a ton of the juice but it creates a nice barrier from oxidation with the addition of the saran wrap.

I use oil (good veg oil or olive or avocado) rather than water. I also drop half avocados in a mason jar full of oil. A peeled half without the pit will keep for quite a long time in the fridge. If you have a food saver with the mason jar attachment, you can also store in an evacuated jar... I personally use a high vac refrigeration vacuum pump and a pressure cooker to accomplish this. I use this setup to seal jars for many items to avoid oxidation. Many food products go rancid if exposed to oxygen.... good quality whole wheat flour for example. Most folks don't have these kinds of "toys", and not in the kitchen if they do.......I use the vac pump for work, and use it so much in the kitchen that it lives there.... Food savers are a priceless kitchen accessory if you freeze anything, etc.
@stonetoolcompany3649
@stonetoolcompany3649 3 жыл бұрын
@Iwwy Iw I re-use the oil and eventually cook with it...... Food saver is a consumer vacuum sealing appliance. Some of us live far out in the country, and freeze a lot of food. Vacuum sealing eliminates freezer burn. The nearest grocery store to me worthy of the name is 50 miles. Hunters and fishermen use these a lot...It prevents a lot of wasted food.

I have a working theory that you can actually make the avocado last longer by up to 3 days if you seal additionally in a container. The question is, how long would the water stay on top and would the fat content win after a period of time absorbing?
@karthikunnikrishnan9608

I mean, it's not a working theory. That's a fact. Anything done to limit air will keep it fresh

I make fresh guacamole using Great Value (Walmart brand) mix. I was skeptical at first but it tastes as good as any brand name mix. Then I add orher ingredients like for example diced tomato. Select unripe avocado all about rhe same color and allow them to ripen at home. I have been freezing leftover guacamole and sealing the surface with plastic wrap before placing container in freezer. Thanks for the tip on keeping fresh guacamole refrigerator.

Thank you so much. I buy this delicious fresh made guacamole but it's a huge container and the top always turns brown after the first use but it stays green below. I usually scrape the brown to the side n eat the green below then slide the same bit of brown guacamole back over the green but sometimes I lose half the quacamole but I'm gonna try this tip next time. Thank you ❤❤❤
