A year before I left Florida I took Two Nodes one at a repeater at one hospital and the other at another hospital. Both of those were private nodes since they were connecting two hospitals together and did not want outside traffic. It worked beautifully. That is until Hurricane Ian hit. I had the two nodes on the area AREDN Mesh network and Ian took some of the antennas on that network down. The club has decided to find an alternative system to link the two repeaters back together.

I would love to hear or see that configuration. I could see that being an interesting setup for EmCOM Medical

@@HamRadioCrusader Fairly easy to do. Since it uses ip addresses like the internet uses we kept it internal to it without opening ports to the outside. Pretty cool system.

Thanks for this Freddie. Now I can see the value in the private nodes. Looking forward to the information on the DV Switch app.

Can you explain the pros/cons of setting up a private node for Echolink? I've seen other Allstar repeater networks use this setup.
@HamRadioCrusader11 ай бұрын
You do not need to use a Private Node for EchoLink. You set EchoLink Up in the Node Itself. I'll do a video to showcase this feature.
@HamRadioCrusader11 ай бұрын
But to elaborate. Having your Echolink account setup in your AllStar node allows it to work at the same time as you AllStar node does and in one place. If Anyone on Echolink wants to connect to your EchoLink account the audio will come through your AllStar node.

@@HamRadioCrusader ... thanks for the reply and link. My reason for setting up Echolink as a private node is I manage a ASL Hub server for my club. We have multiple repeaters connected to the hub. We'd like to keep Echolink as a private node so if a situation should arrive whereby we want to disconnect from Echolink, we would just disconnect the private node. Then later reconnect the private node to allow Echolink users to connect again.

How do I allow incoming connection to notify and allow me to decide to disconnect from a group node and accept that connection or not. The group allstar node I connect to frequently has a strict policy against keeping the connection open when doing other allstar.

How do you add one public and two private nodes on one pi.
@HamRadioCrusader9 ай бұрын
Every initial setup comes with one private node. But I have added extra private nodes. Sounds like I need to make a video to explain it better. Too much to type here.

I will work on it very soon.

Thank you I will look forward to seeing what I am doing wrong. I tried copying the second node placing under the itself renaming the node number etc I followed instructions for adding a second node but did it for the third. I am glad I backed it up because it failed big time.

I have it working. Found my mistake very simple to do. I was over thinking it. Anyone that wants help just let me know. 73 Stephen VE9SC
