something to add to the info, Florida just this month added a new rideshare bill. under the new law, both Uber and Lyft are required to cover you 100% of the time you are online. no more period gap. its pretty much made rideshare insurance here into just "we wont drop you if you put a claim in and doing rideshare" lol as the industry continues to grow, id like to see how insurance companies change

As a Licensed Sales Producer for AllState in Arkansas and currently the record holder in Arkansas for the most rideshare endorsements sold, I will tell you, it's in Arkansas too!!!!! 😉 And a small correction: You do not pay deductibles to the company. A deductible is the amount you agree to pay out of pocket in the event your vehicle is damaged. You pay that to the person who repairs your vehicle.

I have the Allstate policy. I have the platinum plan and get money back. I also have the Drivewise app that will give discounts on products for safe driving. I also have the vanishing deductible. Also, fyi, if you drive for Lyft you can get discounts with Allstate Motor Club.

You should do a video James River insurance and how it works and what is the process after you get in accident and your car is total?

That's a great idea!

easy fix is to never drive around with your RS app on available for hire (Period 1). Go to where you know rides exist. Park in a lot(stage), turn on your app and boom, almost zero risk of a Period 1 accident. Rinse and repeat. You NEVER turn on your app while driving unless you have exited Period 1 into 2. When you finish a ride try to stage where you dropped and keep the app on. If you cannot do so exit the app and go to where you can repeat the first part of this post. If the worst happens and you get into an accident in periods 2 or 3 you call UBER, not your personal Insurance ever. No need for this supplementary insurance if you know how to play this game. That's how you do Uber/Lyft. Could go into never doing anything less than surge but I digress. Find the apps which help you find surges and watch the apps in passenger mode to see where the idiots who will not be driving in a month are currently roaming in Period 1 risking everything they own.

If I call my insurance company and tell them I drive rideshare, will they jack up my insurance rate? I wouldn't see why they would considering if I get into an accident while on the app, Uber or Lyft pays for it (minus the deductible of course)?

They may increase your rate a little, but you can shop around for different companies in your state and you may find cheaper options: therideshareguy.com/rideshare-insurance-options-for-drivers/

I'm very disappointed! After waiting in the new drive share Staging lot at OIA (Orlando) Tues Jul 18th for well over 1 1/2 hrs when the wait count was over 150, I finally got a rider. To my surprise and dismay Uber took me once again off the OIA property for a pickup which was (I would guess) a mile North, and drive the three passengers about another mile or two north, to a restaurant. My earnings were a little over $3.00 The long wait in the staging area just to earn a measly $3.00 is not what I signed up with Uber for. What is going on out there? Is this intentional? Isn't the OIA staging lot cue for picking up airport fares? Please be aware of Uber's deceptive policy . . . YOU MAY NOT NECESSARILY BE DIRECTED to an AIRPORT RIDER.

Find some new spots to stage. Get mystro and limit the area you will drive to PU a ride. Measure your airport grounds and set the limit to that. When you see another of these type of rides lean back and laugh as your assistant declines the crud.
