@Zizzyyzz7 жыл бұрын
EvilAlbear They most certainly certainly DO. I'm in California and I guarantee you that I have Rideshare insurance on my policy. It added another $238 per year to my policy which equals a little under $20 per month. Perhaps they don't offer in your state or other states but in the state of California they DO offer Rideshare insurance. I had Geico before AAA and they did not offer Rideshare Insurance in the state of California. That's one of the reasons why I switched to AAA.
@Zizzyyzz7 жыл бұрын
EvilAlbear I'm sure. This was only a few weeks ago, but things are constantly changing. I wasn't happy with Geico's customer service anyway, so that was another reason why I switched to AAA. I'm in Northern California towards Sacramento. This whole Rideshare insurance thing is relatively new to some companies, so I'm not surprised that there may be some confusion. But I guarantee you that I have the Rideshare Insurance endorsement added to my AAA policy. It's listed on my Declarations Page clear as day.

Thanks for the resource. I am glad I did a little more digging as I got a slightly lower overall quote from USAA than from my current carrier Allstate BUT found out that while the USAA rider covers the gap between you logging into the app and your first ride when Lyft kicks in their version DOES NOT provide any relief for the $2500 Lyft deductable which the Allstate rider in my state (Wa) does so I pay about $3-4 more a month but if I get in an accident with the Allstate will cover the difference between my regular insurance deductable ($500) up to $2500 of the my Lyft deductable or $2000

Harry just like someone else commented I can't believe that there is still discussion on this issue. I agree with the person who commented that commercial Livery insurance is the best way to go. At least with Livery insurance there is no worries about not being covered. In this day and age with people being sue happy having Livery insurance is the only way to protect yourself. I wouldn't depend on Uber's insurance for second.

If Uber/lyft have all their drivers covered with their insurance, why do drivers still need to get a rideshare insurance? I’m a little confused because, the driver is being covered by his personal car insurance when he is not having the Uber/Lyft app on. As soon as he turned on the Uber/Lyft on, he is being covered through Uber/Lyft insurance. Is it not?

If the ins company asks directly, you have to lie to them - and that's a criminal offense. If there's several thousand in damages on the line, they'll certainly use every means they have available to try to find you out and avoid paying - although I can't say for sure what means they use. Here's a blog post on the topic - therideshareguy.com/rideshares-little-white-lie/

in WA we're pretty far behind in the rideshare game. I did a fair bit of research regarding this. so in WA, they require Uber and Lyft to cover you during phase one but the coverage as as crappy as it gets. I had Progressive as my personal coverage and not only do they not have a rideshare coverage option, but I can't even get commercial ins from them. State Farm has TNC coverage add on for about $15 a month obvi depending on your location. it gives me the ability to not only be covered during all 3 phases but I will also have roadside assistance like I would on my personal coverage. I pay more for the basic coverage than I did with Progressive but their basic plan also offered a bit more. I read that MetLife offers coverage for Lyft only but their quote was too rich for my blood. Geico dies not cover. I think USAA does but I can't get in. State Farm is kind of the only option in my area.

I drive in Texas and so far I've yet to find any insurance company that has rideshare insurance for my state. None of the small companies in my town offer it, geico and Allstate also do not cover. State farm covers ONLY if it's less than half of my driving and not my main source of income. Going to try progressive next but I have a drive ahead of me for them.
@user-kb7vg5ws3c5 жыл бұрын
There is.no need for a ride share insurance, because your car supposed to be old enough, and does not need collision coverage. Only liability, provided by uber/left. You personal car insurance should not care if you drive ride share. That is why after 25 years with Geico I went to Liberty Mutual. My personal insurance became even cheaper.

I prefer Uber to Lyft. Every area is different, & I have driven in Naples, Fl. for 1.5 years. People r nice, except late night which I now avoid. Some passengers sit in the front seat, esp females. Also, tips r nice, & I find my wait time no different between the 2. I also get poor connectivity message sometimes w/Lyft, & thus cannot connect to the app. I once accepted a Lyft ride request then lost the signal therefore losing the ride. Also. I like the driver app WAY more than Lyft. Plus, Lyft collision has $2500 deduc vs $1000 for Uber.
