Cycles has nod to their song Blindsight from the Debut EP. The lyric "Watching an empire slowly fall" and also during the chorus there is faint piano in the background that sounds very similar to the one in Blindsight, real OG nerd moment whoever picked that one

This year, like last year, has been a brilliant year of music and albums! But this album is almost certainly AOTY! SO inventive, SO well produced and written, SO well mixed and so well assembled. This is borderline unheard of for a debut album like what!!!! Holy fuck! (p.s. Ephemeral is track of the year. Insane!)

I've been a huge fan since they dropped their first EP back in 2020 and always said they would be the next big thing. Fast forward 4 years now and this album exceeded my expectations that were extremely high to begin with, since I said this would be my AOTY since the release of the orphan breed. Not only is this my AOTY, but I think it's my favorite album ever. Seeing all the love and how many people consider this debut album their AOTY, it warms my heart to see they finally get all the love they deserve!❤
@Hitchens91Ай бұрын
I’m mostly with you Drew that this is an AOTY contender. However, I can’t help but feel that this is another example of too many singles being released, leaving little to chew on when the full album drops. Songs like Aquila, Emmnate (almost 2 years old at this point), and Remnant would have hit me so much harder had I opened them like a gold wrapped gift on release day. I fully understand that this is where we are now, and the model requires a steady stream of new music to draw in listeners, as the algorithm demands. Still, absolute blast of an album, and I enjoyed your analysis. Side note- I still think Allt’s debut EP , Dark Waters, is an underrated masterpiece. Quietus is top tier for me.
@JesperadooАй бұрын
Agreed! The more singles being released can have such a big impact on how the rest of the album feels. I was lucky enough to discover Allt on friday, so I got to hear all the tracks for the first time on the same day. I’ve experienced the same with Muse and TesseracT to name some others.
@obenohnebohneАй бұрын
I agree with you 100%. It would have been so amazing to not have too much knowledge about the album. Now it feels a bit fragmented. It is a fantastic album, but I wish, I didn’t listen to all the songs before.

*Sarcastically triggered voice* sToP pAuSinG Loved to hear your thoughts on this, was such a highly anticipated one and personally didn't disappoint. To add in some additional notes which elevated this album even more for me: - The beginning of Ephemeral feels like a callback to Vinjett from TSOSD. Also had some Unprocessed vibes to it with it's intricacy and gorgeous tones. - Cycles heavily links back to Blindsight on the Dark Waters EP, "watching an empire slowly fall" being the most direct but the beginning ambience and notes of the song are similar, some moments throughout do the same. Freaked the hell out on first listen 😂 Robin's vocal progression through the years is absolutely insane, the riffs from Olle and Viktor, Adam's drumming, Samuel's bass grooves, Buster and Calle's influences and production... For a debut this is leagues ahead of what most bands have been doing for years.

Death is Little More. Honestly, I'm slightly disappointed in this Allt debut as a whole. But don't get it twisted..it's a banger of an album but I put Boundaries and Knocked Loose in front of this album. ❤

@@DrewFortune97 This with a bullet. Even just by the singles it was AOTY, but as a full experience, untouchable imo

For me personally it's probably Death Is Little More by Boundaries. I mean this band is super sick but there's elements in Boundaries music that I gravitate more towards. But I mean the year isn't over yet and I have like 3 other anticipated albums on my list that haven't been released yet this year.

For me the last time a band completely blew my mind and did something entirely identifiable "them" with next level song writing and changed the scene was Shadow of Intent back in 2019 when Melancholy dropped. Allt has successfully won AOTY from me, and AOTY for the last several years, even though gloire eternelle by first fragment stole my heart in 2021. I'm proud to be Swedish when I hear stuff like this :)
