I really want someone to open up this power bank. I just received mine and was surprised to see the 3950mAh*7. I would think that means that it does not use 6 2170 cells like the 737. The past Anker power banks I’ve used have had pretty accurate representations of how the cells are positioned in the pack in marketing material compared to teardown videos, and the Anker 250W battery is the first to showcase pouch styled cells in the marketing material that I know of. This would seem like the first time Anker didn’t use cylindrical cells which I presume is for better volumetric density. Thanks for this amazing and thorough test. It did almost reach the claimed 240W for 2 USB C ports. I wished you went ahead and added a USB A device just to max it out because using all 3 ports is when Anker claims 250W. I did figure out how to turn off that USB A output by putting it on the base and pressing and holding the side button. Can’t figure out how to turn it off without the dock😅.

I have been waiting for this review! Anker states this bank supports dual input charging up to 170W on their website: "170W Fast USB-C Recharge: Recharge your power bank at lightning speed with the convenience of dual USB-C ports, allowing you to fully replenish it in just 37 minutes." I did not see that tested nor it mentioned in one way or another. Can you test that capability? I love my two Anker 737 banks(got 1 for free). With the MASSIVE battery(99.6Wh) in my Apple MBP 16" M2 Max, the additional capacity of this new bank calls to me. Is it worth it? Sounds like the 737 has more accurate display information(100% actually means 100%?), but you mentioned this new one does 140 power delivery MUCH better than the 737. What does that mean exactly?
@TheStopwatchGod Жыл бұрын
The Anker 737 requires a break after discharging the entire battery at 140W. AllThingsOnePlace said during the 140W discharge test he had to wait for 1 hour before the powerbank would let him charge it again. The Prime 27,650mAh powerbank, however needs no such break. It can output 140W and recharge at 140W all day long with no overheat
@numberIII-dc6tx Жыл бұрын
I have tested it as well. Can be recharged at 170 watts in 37 to 40 minutes, NO PD 3.1 REQUIRED!! you just need some multiport 200w+ charger to get this to work. Ugreen nexode 200w and 300w will work with this. Wotobeus 200w charger will also do the trick. you could also hog up two wall outlets and then plug two 100w PD 3.0 chargers with two 5 amp cables and it will also work. It'll just split the charge 20v 4.25a + 20v 4.25a

After using it for a few weeks I will say this is by far my favorite bank to use. I have a bunch of oppo/oneplus devices that use Supervooc (proprietary charging tech) and this is the only battery I’ve seen that does the full 65w that US supervooc allows. Also the app (while questionable) is undeniably a great feature. Minimal battery drain (according to Anker it’s .12mw per hour or so because it uses BT LE)….don’t know if it’s accurate but my favorite feature is a find my battery feature. Anker definitely hit a home run too. Also it’ll fast charge with huawei, ROG 80w, QC5, and most other fast charge standards as well from what I’ve seen (a bit of a tech hoarder here)
@AllThingsOnePlace10 ай бұрын
ha, yeah, I'm a lab equipment hoarder but also acquire too much tech, so much I made a channel out of it. Thanks for the reporting on devices and uses for this though. I don't have any Vooc or related devices to test with so I always skip that part. I think the ZMI no20 also has this feature but you have to use the 'special' USB A to C cable that comes with the power bank.
@Subbias202410 ай бұрын
@@AllThingsOnePlace technically speaking supervooc as a charging standard is better than PPS, QC5, and Samsung fast charge just due to the way Chinese manufacturers like oppo, huawei, OP, Vivo design their phones. Unlike with most devices that use one continuous battery cell most of the Chinese phones use dual cell so they can charge 2x+ as fast (120w or higher in some cases) and because it’s two cells they actually age slower than a single cell battery (oneplus rates around 1600 cycles) and they seem to charge at full speed even with screen on (thermal limitations apply). Tested the 250w with oppo, huawei, vivo, oneplus, and a few others. I can confirm that power IQ 2 usb A will supply faster charging than usb c on the same battery….averaging 18-28w for usb c vs 40-65w on usb A. Not sure what Anker is doing but it’s working. Just a little bit of information I felt would be useful

Do you do a rated capacity test? Many of the powerbanks has this listed in specs. I think I saw the UGreen with 14500mAh. This seems to done at 5V so seems like a good real world test to test useable battery capacity and dc dc converter efficiency before bms switches off. This would be relatively easy standardised test to do on all powerbanks. Great test you have to done show UGreen doesnt stand up to high discharge rates. Keep up the good work.
@AllThingsOnePlace8 ай бұрын
Everyone does it differently. The voltage would only be part of the equation. I don't only use the 5V setting test since it's unfair to some and would make others look great. What I do instead is a full load and a partial load test on larger power banks, and the 5V or 9V test on a smaller power bank representing a typical phone as the load. It is a time balance thing too. I'd do more testing but spending days testing power banks for a couple extra data points that will only give you a small amount more information does not seem a worth while trade off.

It depends on what the camera needs for power. If it's only 5V and 1 or 2 amps, then these or nearly any power bank will do fine. If it needs something more, then figuring out how to power it, if it can negotiate PD modes or if you need an adapter... This is a deal breaker for me as the intended purpose was to provide reliable power to a router and wifi access point. One additional problem occurred when the battery reached full charge it stopped supplying power to the other port altogether so the router was offline. Another deal breaker. It also only charged and supplied power while connected to a 60W PD port. Connected to a 20W PD it slowly used power even though the connected load was only 2 or 3 Watts. Fit and finish is nice. If you're powering something that already has a battery then maybe it's okay, but don't rely on it for uninterrupted power" I would love to see you test this again. Thank you for the great content not sure how i missed this video the first time around. Also when are you making the UPS video?

Thanks! Yeah, I tend to move through that part quickly. It's a quick check then next part of the video, it looks like that reviewer spent a bit more time exploring this function, I would expect the behavior described based on how USB negotiates. Power bank videos take a very long time due to the waiting for charging and discharging and cooldown over and over. I do need to get going on some UPS videos. They won't get views though, need a big brand to strap on the side of it or no one will click on it, apparently even that doesn't work, haha. No idea how that algorithm works.

Yeah, so probably anything with over 75 Wh of available capacity. Something like the Iniu 25k. The camera shouldn't be using more than 5W, it would over heat if it did, so 5*6 = 30 Wh but times two for efficiency losses and a bit of safety factor, so 60 Wh.

Did the 100W port turn off at 70% because both at the same time were overheating it? When would it turn to lower wattage if it was just the 100W output port working?
@AllThingsOnePlace2 ай бұрын
As tested, one port operation overheated it. I didn't check two port operation. The device didn't dynamically adjust so it kept trying to deliver full power, and immediately shutting down, restart, it'll deliver 100W, shut down quickly, so the power level never changed.

I bought an INUI 20,000mAh/65W output battery for my Dell Inspiron 15 (3530) which has a 3cell 56Wh battery... conversion is difficult between units without knowing voltages (online suggests that the dell is 11.25v) but also suggests it's only 4400mah..which is less than my phone which seems unlikely ! Anyway, from around 15%, I got to around 90% on the laptop before the INUI battery ran out which was disappointing but maybe it's what I should expect - I guess efficiency isn't great when you're stepping up/down and transferring. Still, the battery was only around $50, so not bad I guess. Previously, I bought a misc. chinese branded 40,000mah battery for $30... LOL... Amazon does returns so there wasn't much risk so it was more for 'fun' - I reckoned it had max 8000mah. How is that Amazon is allowed to collude in supplying fake products like that ?

Well, you could dream it, along with that list your attempting to dream into existence. I don't blame you for not installing the APP, you and I are both educated on the truth of Anker, we know what type of company they are, and we don't trust them one bit. The Fact that Ugreen claims to be able to sustain a power output of 140 watts, but can't do 100 watts sustained for long, let alone 140 watts, is really quite troubling.
