I did something similar on my 23' pro4x. and I agree they need a little wider stance on pro4x with the plastic fender flares. looks weird after you lift it. Mine has a 2-3" lift and the tires are skinnys, 255/80r17. I used spider trax wheel spacers on the stock wheels. they are 1.5". Had to trim similarly to you. I had the Z1 spacers originally, but didn't like how they fit. fit kinda loose on the hub. made in china. spider trax has been around for a while and made in USA. nice quality.

Definitely heard good things about Spidertrax. I've had good luck with the brand I'm running but they're all sort of a gamble (except spidertrax, haha). And agreed 100% on the stance. I couldn't do it without the spacer. Will eventually swap to different wheels with a better offset, but for now with the stockers, I like it with the spacer.

@AllThingsOverlanding2 ай бұрын
Yep, good idea. I'm not terribly worried about it (yet) but will likely figure out a way to either add some aftermarket thinner mudflaps that cover the hole and keep rocks off the side of the truck or figure out some way to block that hole.

After cutting the metal back, have you considered putting bondo in the void and protecting the hollow area? Since you know what that hole looks like, do you think that's an option? I'd like to keep it sealed after modification if possible.
@AllThingsOverlanding2 ай бұрын
It's a pretty big hole, but I have thought about possibly getting some spare fender liner material and trying to extend it down in a way that doesn't catch on the tires. I did spray a bunch of anti-rust paint in there and I make an effort to keep the mud and stuff out of there after a trip, so I'm not terribly worried about it.

I still have the stock wheels and tires on my 22 Pro 4X and I just put 1.5 in wheel spacers on and I'm rubbing bad! I have a 2.5 in lift in the front with larger UCA. I've carved the bottom edge off the mud flaps and cut the whole center of them out. I'm trying to keep them on only because they look nice from behind... I've heated and pushed the liner and got it almost good enough, I only rub now while turning sharp and braking or accelerating at the same time.
@AllThingsOverlanding2 ай бұрын
Yep, it's just the spacers. I went down to a 1" spacer and that helped quite a bit with rubbing, but it's kind of an either or I feel like. You either get the look you want, but with some rubbing or a fair amount of modification to make it work or you lose the spacers, :(.

Great question. It's not terrible, but it's not insignificant. I was averaging about 19-20 with mostly highway driving and with the lift and tire change, I dropped to about 16-17 MPG. I've also been driving more short trips around town (bought this truck right before a 2 week, 5K miles trip to Wyoming) so that could be a factor, but I would conservatively estimate 2-3 MPG drop is pretty standard.

@AllThingsOverlanding12 күн бұрын
People say that all the time in FB groups, but honestly, it's just like putting on aftermarket wheels with a 0 offset. I don't think any additional wear is noticable or serious enough to worry about. I've had 3 Nissan trucks (and multiple lowered cars) with spacers and never had any extreme wear. I might have had to do wheel hubs a few thousand miles sooner than stock, but to be fair, I'm also going through water crossings, lots of dust, and putting a ton of wear and tear on these components outside of the wheel spacers. I'll always run spacers or more aggressive offset wheels on my vehicles because I like how it looks, haha.

quick question. Great video, but I hear the AAL adds capacity to the payload. Did it change the ride with an empty bed? I'm torn between the AAL or a lift shackle. Thoughts? I don't run my truck overlanding with bed racks etc, and have only ever towed one time with it so far.
@AllThingsOverlanding4 ай бұрын
Thanks! When I put on the AAL, I was surprised how similar it felt to stock. Definitely lifted the truck up a bit, but the ride was largely the same. So, I don't think you'll have any issues running it without any weight in the back. If you switched the whole leaf pack to the parabolic which is really intended to carry more weight, I think you'd see a stiffer ride for sure. I've got the parabolics but have been holding off on installing them until I get my bed cap and rework the back of my truck to get the weight that will be in it, in it. Hope that helps!

@@AllThingsOverlanding Sure did thanks! Parabolic is out of my price range to be honest. I was just largely looking at the AAL or the lift shackles. I"m sure for my use case, either would be fine, but there is nothing wrong with a little extra capacity in the back.

Does it void the warranty when you lift the truck . I always heard it voided the warranty I have a 2024 Pro4X
@AllThingsOverlanding4 ай бұрын
Ultimately, it kind of comes down to the dealer, but realistically, no. First of all, dealers can't "void" a warranty. They can refuse to do work if they think the issue was caused by an aftermarket part, but with suspension lifts, there's very little that that could do to cause any issues with major components of the truck. For example, if your engine died, they couldn't really blame the suspension for that because they're completely unrelated. Now, if you put a supercharger on your engine and tune it incorrectly and the motor blows, the dealer/Nissan would have a pretty strong case to deny to repair or replace it in that instance, siting that the modifications likely caused the issue and therefore, they aren't liable for repairing it under warranty.

This sh! is kind of ridiculous
@AllThingsOverlanding15 күн бұрын
Yeah, unfortunately that's par for the course for fitting bigger tires on these trucks. I've had 3 Nissan trucks and they've pretty much all required the same. It's honestly a small amount of cutting and once you've done it once or twice, it's pretty easy, but if you're not up for that, there are other trucks that fit bigger tires better. However, historically, most of those are less reliable so for the exchange in fitting bigger tires more easily, you're rolling the dice more on the powertrain and electrical components, so I've just dealt with the slight inconvenience of having to cut a bit to fit the 33's in exchange for a solid all around truck that will last for years.
