I was surprised the 90s didn't show the hair all curled forward and teased for height like so many of us used to wear. I think that style took me over an hour to do. My 80s big hair didn't even take that long!

4:13 tbh that’s not an Afro. That’s just big curly hair with some frizz. An Afro is what Nina Simone has, what Viola Davis has, what Lupita N’yongo has. Curly hair does not equate to having an Afro and vice versa. They’re two totally different things. Stop equating curls or frizzy, unkempt hair with Afros.

Surprisingly the 20s one was probably the most accurate part of this video, the straight bob did exist although it would've probably been shorter. I think the marcel waves they did for the 30s would've been better for the 20s since they were at their peak of popularity in the 20s, but waves were already dying out in the 30s as longer curly hair got more popular

Exactly, when I comb my hair it forms in afro. When nonblack comb their hair it isn't considered a style, it's just the way their hair grows....down. My hair grows up, I comb up and it forms an afro. It's not a style, it's how my hair grows

First. The 1940s peek-a-boo look was Veronica Lake's iconic look. Victory roll and hair curled into snoods is more iconic. As far as the 1980s, WTF was THAT monstrosity? Not even CLOSE! Do you EVER research or just go "Hey! This is what we think it was!" and just go with it, no matter HOW inaccurate it is? 🤦♀️🤷♀️

And what really bothers me about this is that they spent more time doing makeup than actually trying to get the hair correct, and even the make up is wrong. This is a fantastic fail, and if they expect folks to be nice about it they should have tried harder.

This was better and a bit more accurate than your "100 years of long hair" version but the makeup still does not seem quite right. The Black is Beautiful movement is important and I'm glad you represented that, but Farrah's 70s style also needs to be represented somewhere in the 70s. It was everywhere you went back then.
