The main argument against picking and choosing, is that since the establishment of the 4 madhabs, there has not been a single scholar who has mastered and become an authority in all 4 madhabs. Also,, presenting a madhab as opinions from the founder of the school is wrong. A madhab is the opinions of the collaborated work of scholars generation after generation who examine and re examine opinions to reach what they believe to be the correct rulings. It's from the minds of thousands upon thousands of scholar.

all 4 mathhabs are salafi, they respect them more then sufis who use the names of mathhabs to create a blind spot to fit in bida and create disunity. even the 4 mathabs teaches when to reject them, if a non Muslim lies on Quran and Sunnah we can look it up, if a sufi lies on a mathhab its more difficult to look up, and this goes against Quran, Quran 21 :7 says ask ahlul thikr but Quran 12 :108 says follow clear evidences and give dawa with that, so give dawa with the evidences only just as salafis teach, and this is linked to Tawhid while extreme taqlid is linked to shirk in Quran 9 :31.

WHY all these Madhab?! essentially Madhab is ways or methods of doing.. do you think Mohammad PBUH did things differently ? Sunni consider all four Madhaz legitimate but its paradoxical ! For example ! Abdul Qadir Jilani in 73 misguided sects he mentioned Hanafi as going to Jahanam ! lol Abdul Qadir Jilani was Hanbali and then become Sufi.. Imam Hanbal said to his student if you cut Abu Hanifa you get reward ! its well documented ! so.. where is Sunni United then? ONLY in fake Khilafa of Abubakr, Omar and Uthman and all those Umayyad era.. which is political and under duress. this is ONLY a small tiny reality of Sunni Islam.

If i'm right to say i heard that 3 talaq in a row is invalid in the Shafi'i not that all 4 imams agree on the talaq Now the sheikh is saying all 4 imams agree on the issue of talaq CORRECT if i'm WRONG the sheikh is wrong on this . Majority of us UMMAH is not on his level just speaking the language let alone understanding the fiqh'i mas'alah So stay safe & only follow one off the 4 imams if anyone off us say is in a pickle seek a reputable Mufti only they will have a broad understanding off all the 4 madhahibs ( imams ) to best suit your needs in that dire situations comes to light but not something which is an everyday issue . Just show your RESPECT to everyone especially our Salaf us Saliheeen which they are included in the 4 imams rahimahullah Barakallah hu fikum

The best book to read on this subject is by Al-Hafidh Ibn Rajab (r), who wrote a book titled: “Al-Radd ala Man Ittaba’a Ghayr al-Madhahib al-Arba’ah” (The Refutation of those who follow other than the Four Schools). He summarizes why the student should follow and learn one Madhhab such that he may follow the way of the scholars and the traditional method. Barakallahu Fikum.

The Four Madhab and their authenticity Q: Are the Four Madh-habs: Al-Hanbaliyyah, Al-Shafi`iyyah, Al-Malikiyyah, and Al-Hanafiyyah, true? When did they appear? A: These Four Madh-habs are well-known schools which have spread during the second century and the later centuries. As for the Madh-hab (School of Jurisprudence) of Abu Hanifah, it was known and spread in the second century as well as the Madh-hab of Imam Malik which spread during the second century too. As for the Madh-habs of Imam Al-Shafi'y and Ahmad, they spread during the third century. All of these scholars sought goodness and guidance and their target was to seek the truth which is implied in the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger (peace be upon him). This does not mean that each one of them is infallible and errorless but each one has his own mistakes according to the knowledge they gained from the Sunnah and the Book of Allah (عز وجل). They may miss some knowledge from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and pass a fatwa according to the knowledge which they already have. These are well-established religious matters according to the people of knowledge. Likewise, the people of knowledge such as Al-Awza'y, Is-haq ibn Rahawayh Sufyan Al-Thawry, Sufyan ibn Uyaynah, Waki ibn Al-Jarrah and other well known scholars; each one of them observed Ijtihad (juristic effort to infer expert legal rulings) according to the knowledge that they received, so whoever was correct, has received double reward and whoever went wrong, would have the reward of his Ijtihad despite the error made. This was reported in the Sunnah from the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم). May Allah grant us success. [Majmoo 'al-Fataaawa Ibn Baaz, Vol.: 7; pg. 149]

We should appreciate the historical significance of the four main madhabs while recognizing the Quran and Hadith as our primary guides. We should avoid blind following and strive for a deeper understanding of religious teachings. We should embrace a balanced, evidence-based approach to Islamic jurisprudence, valuing diverse scholarly opinions. Ultimately, we should combine respect for traditional scholarship with direct engagement with primary Islamic sources.

theres a few points that can be clarified. Firstly, a madhab is not solely one imam, it is the work and peer review of 100s of thousands of scholars of each madhab. Secondly, even the usul have been transmitted from the companions to the imams because it was an oral tradition before a written one. Thirdly, for everyone below the mujtahid, it will not be asked whether they picked the correct opinion so this obsession with trying to discern between opinions that we're unqualified to do isnt worth it. We will be judged for having picked an accepted set of framework (madhab) by which we conducted our lives. The last point is y there is no issue with saying the truth is restricted to the 4 madhahib, since the usul of the other madhahib have not been preserved even if some rulings have been.

This is a discussion that can go for ever. Because, it’s extremely very very important that every one is struggling whom to chose to follow. For a person who doesn’t know any better how that person can tell what this mazhab is teaching is fact or not? For example these days Shia in Iran is teaching everything opposite what Islam is all about, then how a person bringing up in there knows the truth?

belal miah you are absolutely right brother. It is actually a stupid statement to make. People running around saying don’t blind follow, we are all blind followers. The salamis are also blind following because they haven’t come out with their اصول. The 4 imams the ummah accepted at the expense of many imams is due to “qubuuliyya” from Allah SWT because the truth lies within the 4 Madhabs and not outside them.

brothers you are right but I think you have misunderstood me. What I meant was obviously there is no problem in following a madhab but you must put the Qur'an and sunnah first. You cannot have the assumption that they have got EVERYTHING right because at the end of the day they are human. Obviously there is no blame if you blindly follow when in a situation that you yourself don't have much knowledge on or cannot find any sufficient information regarding that ruling (as the imaams are a much higher rank than us) but if you are presented with a ruling/Hadith by a another imaam or students of knowledge and has MORE authentic evidences and is backed up by the Qur'an and sunnah that might completely contradict what your imaam said (which does happen often) we shouldn't choose our imaams and be ignorant. We should just assume that the hadith didn't reach them.

Ta’asub (fanaticism) is impermissible in the Deen. Question: What is the ruling on someone who says "I love him very much, I do not want to hear anyone refuting him and I will take his words even if they are in opposition to the proof because this Shaykh is more aware of the proof than we are". Answer: Shaykh Saalih al Fawzaan Hafidahullah: This is ta’asub (fanaticism), which is detested and condemned, and it is not permissible. We love the scholars, all praise be to Allah, and we love the callers to the way of Allah. However, if one of them errs in an issue, then we clarify the truth with regard to this issue, with the evidence. And this does not detract from the love or status held for the one being refuted. Imam Malik (rahimahullah) said: There is none of us except that his opinion could be accepted or rejected except for the one buried in this grave, meaning Allah’s Messenger. So when we refute one of the scholars or one of the noble personalities, this does not mean that we have a hatred for him or that we are belittling him. Rather, we are clarifying what is correct. This is why when one of the scholars saw that one of his colleagues erred, he said: So and so is our beloved friend, however the truth is more beloved to us than him. This is the correct way. And do not understand from the refutation of a scholar in an issue he erred in to mean that it is a belittling of him or hatred for him. On the contrary, the scholars have not ceased to refute one other (throughout history), but in spite of that, they are brothers holding love for one another. It is not permissible for us to accept entirely everything an individual says whether he is correct or wrong because this is ta’assub (blind fanaticism). The (only) one whom we can take all of his sayings and not leave off any of them is Allah’s Messenger (salallaahu alaihiwa-salaam) because he is the conveyer from his Lord Almighty and he does not speak from his own desire. As for those other than him, then they can err at times and be correct at times. Even if they are from the most virtuous of people and they are Mujtahids (i.e. scholars), they can err at times and be correct at times. There is no one that is protected from error except Allaah’s Messenger. We must know this. Furthermore, we do not conceal the error out of our love for such and such individual. Rather it is upon us to expose and clarify the error. The Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: The Religion is Sincerity. We said: To who? He (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: 》To Allah, 》To His Book, 》To His Messenger, 》The Muslim leaders and 》Their common folk. Clarifying the error falls under Sincerity to everyone. But as for concealing the error, then this is in opposition to Sincerity. [Al-Ajwibah Al-Mufeedah]

I being a Revert in Bangladesh highly discourage anyone from getting their knowledge from the Hanafis. Most hanfais in use Logic to decide rulings which is not what the prophet used. Bangladesh is a Hanafi country but a huge problem is that there is a lot of Sufi Baggage that comes with it. Imam Abu Hanifa also said to throw his ruling on the wall if it goes against the Sunnah, so clearly if you hear something from these "Hanafis" that sounds a bit fishy then run from them and follow the way of the Salaf instead. It's okay to first learn form a certain madhab but you have to be EXTREMELY sure that you are learning it from someone who is PURELY following that Imam instead of blindly following it, make sure their is no extra practises added to it. Learn the fiqh of that madhab thru the lens of the salaf not thru the lens of that madhab, cuz' there are blind followers of these madhabs who knowingly or unknowlinly add Sufi/Shia/Modernist/Feminist/Athari/Ashari beliefs to your knowledge. Ofcourse the best thing to do always is to just sit back relax and do the basics like memorizing quran, learning Arabic, and finishing reading all major hadith collections. The Advanced Aqeedah/Fiqh/Madhab stuff is complex and must come later. - Enacaus. Jazakallahu Khayr.

A man asked Imam Malik, ❝Who are Ahl al-Sunnah...?❞ Imam Malik replied, ❝The ones who have no title they are known by; not Jahmī, not Rāfiḍī, and not Qadarī.❞ [Tartīb al-Madārik] The only title you have to be sure you're upholding is Islam. The only title you will be asked about in the grave is Islam! Every other title: Salafi, Sufi, Ashari, Maturidi, Athari, Mutazili, Deobandi, Barelvi or Ahl-e-Hadith all have useless baggage that comes with them. Don't attribute yourself to anything but Islam . All Imams strive to walk in the best way to Allah, every acceptable way, and the most important thing is the Quran the word of Allah.(وَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ تِبْيَانًا لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ) .
