For anybody asking The Front end is tight. Ive double checked it a few times. The Gearbox has some play but that's about it. Ball joints and all tie rods are tight and good and well greased. I believe we have 1 possibly 2 issues. The Trac bar is at the proper angle which is achieved by a drop bracket but it is still a factory style Trac bar. One end has a bushing that has a little bit of play. Im gonna get rid of the bushing style and go with something else. Honestly the play is so little it's very hard to tell. It has never given us an issue before even cruising down the interstate at 80MPH. I think this was one of those perfect scenario moments. On top of that the truck has no front sway bar which lets the truck have a lot of torque roll off the line and when you let out of the throttle. These Issues will both be addressed before we take it back to the track!! Just glad it wasn't any worse... And for anybody telling me not to run the truck down the dragstrip because it's a big diesel and it shouldn't be raced.... Get that negative energy outta here!!!!!! If they will let me run it on a track you bet your ass I'm gonna try it!!! LOL

You shouldn't be experiencing death wobble with one tons..... You should look into what you did wrong on your steering
@FullSendFarm7 ай бұрын
@austincassell4741 I know exactly why it does it lol. I'm not running street tires, I have 42" tsl"s on weld on beadlocks. It's a rock crawler that can be drove on the street. I didn't put alot into "balancing" the tires due to it only death wobbles around 35mph and momma didn't raise no b... 🤣 so I just drive through it to 45+ and not worry about it. I could probably throw some balance beads in them and help but it really don't bother me, it's become more fun than a nuisance as I can roll into 35 with an unexpecting passenger a scare the shit out of them🤣

Add as much caster to the alignment as you can, ideally 7-12 degrees if possible. Done it many of times on all different gens of mopar straight axle vehicles!
@9rjharper7 ай бұрын
Yep. Caster shake.
@russellharper30277 ай бұрын
I studied why this happens to sprint cars sometimes when they don't have enough caster. It's caused by gyroscopic precession slightly lifting one side of the axle, which causes the steering to turn slightly one way, which causes the opposite side to lift slightly, which causes it to steer the other way, then it repeats over and over really quickly, causing caster shake, aka death wobble.

Wasn't there something in those second gen Dodges and third gen Dodges like a missing crossmember in the front of the frame that caused the death wobble
@paullane74897 ай бұрын
I’m not sure how you have your lock up switch wired, but there is a way to wire the switch where it won’t lock the converter until the transmission is in 2nd or a higher gear. What that does is it allows you to stage in 1st gear, go ahead and flip the lockup switch, and then when you shift to second the converter will lock up automatically giving you once less switch to hit while you’re going down the track. That’s actually the most common way I’ve seen a dodge lock up switch wired, so yours may already be setup like that. Just something to consider trying. It would definitely be easier than trying to shift to second and flip the lockup switch all at the same time you’re going fast accelerating down the track.

Caster. Add a bunch of positive caster. It'll be fine. Likely nothing is worn out or broken. The aftermarket always says it's this part or that part and want you to spend a bunch of $$ buying band aides. Look at an old dragster and notice how much positive caster they run - the front wheels look like they are going to flop over when they are turned tight in the pits. That's why. Harder to steer but super stable.
