Not just that but also the rotating assembly of the rods, pistons, and crankshaft. The heavier those are the less rpm you're able to turn. And also whether the block is a 4 bolt main or 2 bolt main.

@@billykennedy2265 exactly only run two-bolt mains because they're a lot lighter than a four bolt main same strength. And the crank rods and Pistons have nothing to do with how many RPM a motor can turn it's the heads that limit you. You can put rotary heads on a V8 and turn it in 19000 RPMs as long as it's balanced.

should add a shroud to that trans cooler fan, a baking sheet works great for cheap n easy shroud... other wise that fan is useless, doesn't cover enough surface area to even cause enough of a temp drop since the cooler will heat sync really quick when you got your foot through the floor pan.

You guys want 7000 RPM your going to need valve springs, the cam may go to 7000 but factory valve springs will only let you get to 6000 depending on how old and wore out the springs are.

You coulda put that whole setup you bought in there, it would just make it flat tappet by taking the stock roller setup out of it. All those parts woulda went right in. Ill also add, i read lingenfelters book, and he would run two of those steel shim stock headgaskets stacked, with just spray paint between them to seal them against each other to get .030 thickness to clear a .642 lift cam. Obviously each combination should still check valve to piston clearance. Ive got a set of those gaskets new in the box i never used. But great way to pick up compression. The only thing different on roller cams and their timing sets, is that ledge around the front of the roller cam. Good luck at the freedom factory.

180° out. Btw. To put out a “bowl” type fire simply put a towel over it and it Will immediately run out of oxygen and go out. Waving at it like a pansy of blowing more air into it will not put it out

You absolutely can run a flat tappet cam in a vortec at least I sure did . When that single piece rear seal and center valley roller retainer bosses are basically the only difference. You just need different push rods

Well those intake bolts arent vertical, so they arent vortec heads, and the roller cam, you just ditch the retainers and you can use a flat tappet. I have worked on those blocks with non roller cams from the factory. All the bosses are there just not used. But those arent vortec heads.intake bolts are streight upnand down and only 2 on all for corners of the intake, not center intake bolts. But roller cam blocks can accept a flat tappet. Either use an older timing set without the retainer plate on the front of the cam or a later style cam that will accept the retainer.
