I can't wait to get back out to Utah, I rented a two-door Rubicon a few years ago and ran some trails, including Fins & Things. Ran out of daylight, didn't make it to Hell's. The guy at the rental shop told me to do fins first, and if I liked it to Hell's afterwards. Had a blast on Fin's, had the trail to myself, ran it solo with no spotter. Kind of glad in retrospect that I didn't end up on Hell's, I think I would have needed a spotter a few times at least.

I was at the bottom of Hells gate in my 13 Tacoma sport (no lockers) 2.5” lift on 33’s and right there next to me was a kid and his broken ZR2. Honestly I think he’s just a noob who thought his rig would do everything for him, but that’s a good example of the driver makes a huge difference (experience!) I walked it right up on 4-Lo and on the perfect line. I’m not gonna lie that I did burn out a little while climbing because of the lack of no lockers but made it up with my wife recording the whole time at the top of Hells Gate. Yes I have it on video and for the guys who believe that they need lockers, yes it would’ve made it easier in me.. but I’ve done so many trails and obstacles that people say require lockers to do so and I’ve done them just fine. Amazing video!! Just curious, what size tires do you run?

Thank you very much!!! The Tacoma is running 35x12.5 r17. They are great tire but took a lot of work to run on the Tacoma.

Hey Kelly, what wheel and tire specs are you running? Including offset and brand of the rims. Looking to get a setup just like yours! Thanks for a of the premium content!
@AdventureBuilt3 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much. My wheels are the 17” Method 701 in black with a 0 offset. I still rub just a little so if I had to buy them again I would get the -12mm offset to kick them out just a pinch. I have tried the smallest spacer I can find but they are still too wide and I rub on the outside edge of the tire. Without the spacer I have a slight rub on the frame and fender only at full lock. The tires are the Toyo MT 35x12.5/17. Hope this helps.

This trail vs. Top of the world trail? Which one was more difficult??
@AdventureBuilt3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm that is a good one. I think Hell’s Revenge was harder only because of Hell’s Gate. That climb stresses me out and I definitely thought I was going to roll my truck. Now that being said we did the entire trail in about 4 hours and that was the hardest part which was short. Top of the World took us from early morning and into the dark and had so many hard sections that you can not avoid. I would say as a whole Top of the World is a harder trail! What do you think?

So the FJ is much better off-road? Or it was just his setup?
@AdventureBuilt3 жыл бұрын
Ben in the FJ has an amazing setup. He has lower gears with front and rear lockers. That FJ is a rear weapon!!!
@ron89753 жыл бұрын
I went from a 2011 FJ to a 2019 Taco. Stock for stock and even with mods on the Taco the FJ would/will run circles around the Taco when off-road. I regret the day I traded the FJ for the Tacoma.

@@ron8975 thanks for the comment. I'm not sure exactly what I want yet. I think I'd very rarely try something like this though. It seems Ike the FJ is a good buy because it should hold value.

@@RichardsWorld I drove my FJ for 8 years and about 140K miles. Paid about $30K for it brand new with 7 miles on the clock. I got $25K for it as a TRADE IN. So, yes, they hold their value.
