Awesome! I've seen so many Hell's Gate videos that did not have good outcomes, haha. I can't wait to get back out to Utah, I rented a two-door Rubicon a few years ago and ran some trails, including Fins & Things. Ran out of daylight, didn't make it to Hell's. The guy at the rental shop told me to do fins first, and if I liked it to Hell's afterwards. Had a blast on Fin's, had the trail to myself, ran it solo with no spotter. Kind of glad in retrospect that I didn't end up on Hell's, I think I would have needed a spotter a few times at least.

Excellent video production and narrative! Kelly, you and I have similar builds. You doing some recon on Hell's Gate, gives me a chance to study your lines on your assent. I must admit that there was some "pucker factor" when you almost rolled into the side of the rock. I think that your RTT wasn't helping for sure. You've now shown me that it can be done in a Tacoma. I think that I'll tackle it in a few weeks when I'm out there. I'm glad you mentioned a "bypass" too. A couple of friends that I'm rolling with may not have the stones to do it.

I was at the bottom of Hells gate in my 13 Tacoma sport (no lockers) 2.5” lift on 33’s and right there next to me was a kid and his broken ZR2. Honestly I think he’s just a noob who thought his rig would do everything for him, but that’s a good example of the driver makes a huge difference (experience!) I walked it right up on 4-Lo and on the perfect line. I’m not gonna lie that I did burn out a little while climbing because of the lack of no lockers but made it up with my wife recording the whole time at the top of Hells Gate. Yes I have it on video and for the guys who believe that they need lockers, yes it would’ve made it easier in me.. but I’ve done so many trails and obstacles that people say require lockers to do so and I’ve done them just fine. You should see my Tacoma it’s no longer pretty, I’ve upgraded my suspension and wheels but it is all marred up, dented and scraped everywhere. But it’s my off road rig.

Hells Gate is a side trail that you can avoid completely. You basically enter onto Hells Gate and immediately drop into a little canyon and then climb right out on Hells Gate. It’s a wild ride. People hang out at the top and watch people like us struggle on the unfamiliar terrain.

Thank you very much. My wheels are the 17” Method 701 in black with a 0 offset. I still rub just a little so if I had to buy them again I would get the -12mm offset to kick them out just a pinch. I have tried the smallest spacer I can find but they are still too wide and I rub on the outside edge of the tire. Without the spacer I have a slight rub on the frame and fender only at full lock. This trail vs. Top of the world trail? Which one was more difficult??
@AdventureBuilt

Hmmm that is a good one. I think Hell’s Revenge was harder only because of Hell’s Gate. That climb stresses me out and I definitely thought I was going to roll my truck. Now that being said we did the entire trail in about 4 hours and that was the hardest part which was short. Top of the World took us from early morning and into the dark and had so many hard sections that you can not avoid. I would say as a whole Top of the World is a harder trail! What do you think?
