Yap away on your history with Lizzy, dude. You tell a story, and that’s exactly what Lynott did. Your ‘Life’ video spurred me to revisit my own history with the band, which began with Chinatown. If I may, a little perspective. I saw Motorhead all three nights on the Iron Fist Tour at Newcastle City Hall in ’82 (around 2,000 capacity)-Monday-Wednesday. Lizzy were scheduled for the Thursday, but cancelled. Fast forward to 1983. I saw Lizzy at the same venue in March and sold out; Motorhead were back in June ’83 and get this, one night, and the balcony was closed! This is the venue where most of No Sleep ‘til Hammersmith was recorded!

Hey Ralph, you know I’m a theatre guy and I’ve got some cool news from that world! A dude has written a theatre rock production about Phil’s life. It’s called Moonlight: the Philip Lynott Enigma and it premieres in Dublin this April. It’s to honor him as one of the most important Irish music stories of the last 50 years. Glad he is getting the love that he deserves!

I read about that too ! At first I thought it was a movie about him...but it's a play with a live band accompanying the play ...the guy playing Phil was born and raised in the same area so it should be interesting to see if he pulls it off ...also Eric Bell is supposed to be involved with the production too ...could be interesting...!

Ah ! One of the best Kiss related albums against maybe the best Thin Lizzy album ! Awesome stuff Ralph... let's go ! 1. Rip it out 2. Toughest street in town 3. Snowblind 4. Waiting for an alibi 5. Sarah 6. Got to give it up 7. In need of love 8. With love 9. Black rose-Rock legend Ace - 3 TL - 6 Ya know Ralph... funny what you said about a few of those Thin Lizzy albums being hard to get...I couldn't find Black Rose/Chinatown & Renegade on CD for ages...I had found them on vinyl (except for Renegade) but it wasn't until years later that I was able to buy them on CD... almost every other album I had of theirs was released on CD by Warner brothers I think ...and then finally in the late '90's I found those 3...they were released on the "Metal blade" label.. probably some legal thing that kept them out of circulation for all those years...but I finally got them all ! 👍🏻😀

I heard that back in the day, Ace's solo album sold more than the other 3 solo albums the members of Kiss put out at the time. Peter probably didn't mind too much, but, i bet it drove Paul and.Gene nuts.

I know a few songs off Black Rose but I'm not familiar with the whole album. I worship the Ace solo album, so out of fairness, I won't do a full track by track. Great to hear your track by track though! Just wanted to point out that you wrote Blood Rose instead of Black Rose in the video title, but I'm sure we all know which album you are battling with.

No contest. Thin Lizzy with Gary Moore on this lp,decimates Ace solo lp. Actually every Thin Lizzy lp beats Ace by differing stretches. Even Phil's Solo in Soho is better. Phil's 2nd The Phillip Lynott Album is merely tied with Ace. All of course imo. Ace's lp output can however be picked thru to make a really kick ass greatest hits.

I love thin Lizzy but even if you put my favorite Lizzy album " thunder and lightning" against the ace album, it doesn't come close.we all know now that ace blew his wad with this album and never made a stone cold classic front to back like this, ever again.Hes doing bad club shows now but at least he's really playing and singing. Unlike his old bosses

I love both "Sarah" and "Philomena". The latter being Phil's tribute to his mother. Both mother and son are now reunited in rock heaven.
