Ive learned a lot from these. I have 2 bambinos and took some corms without pulling out the plant from the pot. What Ive noticed is that they can endure morning direct sunlight but the leaves become slightly whiter (or like foggier looking surface). I kept one under bright indirect sunlight and the leaves retain their glossy green surface
@onlyplants2 жыл бұрын
Interesting… perhaps they are slightly bleached or producing less chlorophyll as a result of intense light. But yes they thrive in bit of direct light and will grow twice as fast

Hi, would that same cutting propagation technique work with a pink bambino? Meaning would the varigation carry through to the new plants?
@onlyplantsАй бұрын
Actually I have the pink bambino and I meant to do a propagation video about it. Some of the variegation can pass through the corms or side shoots. For me though the chance of good variegation is less than 20% of the babies. Most of them ended up green or poorly variegated.

how do you “train” the plants to tolerate so much moisture in the potting mix? my plants always get root rot even when i’m watering less frequently than you say. My bambino is getting water once every 5-7 days!
@onlyplants10 ай бұрын
Its a combination of light level and airflow too. Also if you propagated a plant they will get used to your care 😀

I have an alocasia Polly that suffered a terrible accident. I was shaking the plant over a white paper to see if it had spider mites (no spiderites )but the plant broke off. The stem separated from the roots completely 😭 The bulb/corm is intact alongside the stem and the leaves on the stem but it has no roots what should I do now ?
@onlyplants2 жыл бұрын
Ive never heard of people shaking plants over white paper for spidermites hehe. You can usually see them on the underside of the leaves. I would treat all alocasias regularly (2-3 months) regardless of spidermites. I would water propagate the top broken off portion. And the lower nodes can form Roots and leaves no problem. Give it high humidity and dont drown it in water

@onlyplants Жыл бұрын
Its much happier in a smaller pot. Yellowing leaves may have been sign of too much water. When you have a lot of potting media it can retain too much water
